More spots from Mr. Mash SPECIAL SUNNY

My other spotted threads are probably buried deep in the mists of time now as it's been a while since I updated (or saw anything worthy!). Here's a few that have been sat for a while, quite a lot taken by my pa who is quite a shite spotter in his own right! Apologies for any you may have seen before.

+2 on that Jag. Nicest model (of XJ) and nicest colour. It even looks to be running on the correct directional tyres. That car really is a thing of absolute beauty.

This was at Langtoft wasn't it on the road to Staxton Hill...I'd always keep my eye out for it every time I went to Scarborough. It was in the same spot on the side of the road for years...

It's not there now though as last November I passed it on the M18 at Thorne. It was on the back of a trailer passing Doncaster services heading south. It was being towed by a modern version of the same...

At the time I did double take when I saw the reg number and realised it was the one from Langtoft.

That's some nice tractor shite right there.

Must be an import from the US - I don't think they were ever sold on this side of the world, were they?

I went to the car show at Ripon racecourse yesterday which is usually not a bad do with a decent turnout and fair autojumble. The weather was kind this year too! Here are a few for your perusal :D

Your eyes do not decieve you, this is a concours Volvo 460!! I don't know if it had always been in this condition but in order to get the engine bay as good as this I'd have to dismantle the whole thing, seriously every nook and cranny was factory fresh:

Chevettes. The red hatch was beautiful, resprayed I think but only 24000 miles or something. VERY RED!

IMG_8781.jpg

I was rather taken with this Humber Hawk, these are very rare now. I'm not 100% on the colour scheme which is more suited to a Minx but the car was fab:

GS Pallas - WANT!

Always liked these Series 2 coupes, this one's a Daimler:

IMG_8764.jpg

Beautiful HB Viva estate:

IMG_8763.jpg

I really liked this Herald in Damson, such a nice colour scheme and this one is interesting to me as it has an East Riding registration number:

This Cortina Crusader is one of the best I've ever seen, really nice:

It's Jack Regan circa 1976!

IMG_8744.jpg

Almost povvo spec Cortina but saved from the ultimate misery by being a 1.6L:

IMG_8740.jpg

IMG_8742.jpg

IMG_8743.jpg

The Autoshite of the breakdown companies - my grandad was with them probably because he was too tight to pay for AA or RAC membership!

Rather fittingly, this was on a brown Dolomite 1300!

Chrsler Avenger, unusal colour:

Nice to see a low spec Granada estate, very rare now - actually could this be a Consul?

Nice spots Mash, especially the Fiat :D

GR14.5 stuff Mash Bridges!

That Glas is RHD and registered as a Goggomobil Esquire, which is the name it got in the UK to sound more 'British' (The older types were sold as 'Mayfair' and 'Regent') so it's most likely an original UK market car, which must make it more or less unique. To be honest I wasn't even sure we actually got these late Isar-type Goggos here, that's the first evidence of one I've actually seen. Sadly it's not showing up on the DVLA so I can't confirm that it was registered here brand new... :?

Great spots. I always thought "National Breakdown" was a great name! I think they turned into what is now Green Flag.

That looked like a brilliant show.

Love the blue crusader, vanilla mk4 but the Fiat is just spot on for me :-)

Erm... the Herald might be a Vitesse, or a Herald with a Vitesse bonnet... or something.

Yes, that's a Consul grille on the front.

It's a Herald 13/60, the bonnet is correct... unless you open it and find a lurking six-pot! Confusingly, all three models were available at the same time: the "old-type" Herald (1200) with the round-topped wings; this one (1300 engine); and the Vitesse (same shape wings, more lights, 2000cc IL6).

And by the way, GR88 spots! :D I love show photos, especially from the north or midlands as I might see a car I knew, or even possibly owned!

There's all kinds of great stuff there Mash!, That John Grose Ipswich Cortina is great to see being a local car and i think the red Chevette is the one that was on ebay last year, It sold for over £3000 IIRC.

I wouldn't kick that Cavalier Sporthatch out of bed either.

I missed most of that lot.

I know, I come back from car shows and see the photos online and wonder if I was actually at the same show? Its not like there is a load of fit women there to take my attention away from the cars :? Maybe I am suppressing a hidden desire for old men in wellies who have a fondness of MGB's.

F***s sake, I live five miles away and managed to miss that, again! Oh well, hopefully I'll be at the July Newby Hall one instead :)

Those dealer stickers look good. Wish I'd bought a couple now...

OMG, bugger me etc.

After collecting my B11 Sunny the other week it got me thinking as to the fate of another such car that was local to me and which I haven't seen around for a good few years. Locally registered, very early and a rare 2-door, I thought it scrapped. A diversion in the town today meant I went along a different road where there's a cheapo garage and tyre place and blow me if the little sod isn't sat outside!!!

So tomorrow I know what I'm doing in my dinner time.....!

FAG25Y.jpg

Looks really tidy and is on SORN until November.

Don't think I have ever seen a 2 door Sunny B11 in the flesh.

You could probably park one in the trunk for town driving...
