If anyone missed the MB Civic, matt cream Healey or Nissan hard body in red they have some old stock  in The Original Factory Shop.

Hopefully they will get the old cases we missed.

How much are they?

So pretty well catered-for, in comparison!

Yay!  This is one rarely modelled:  The 1968 Chevrolet Astrovette

20210526_150137271_iOS.thumb.jpg.d34fe6dfbd7a3d880f981e3606d64b07.jpg

It's around 1:24 scale and looks quite swish

20210526_150141907_iOS.thumb.jpg.f325c5402a6ce41815c163344ab7e99e.jpg

Not bad for a £8.50 top bid.  Very surprising in fact.  Now to get it working....

20210526_150148679_iOS.thumb.jpg.3625515d1621092ec8116ad276c6b5ec.jpg

Phact: Astrovette was actually a thing

1968-corvette-astro-vette.thumb.jpg.5f9431216688e99f8f9d197ec1610465.jpg

She looks chirpy.

The other one I like a lot is the 1968 Chevrolet Astrovette.  GM were piling-on the concepts, weren't they...

Grabbed a Mettoy 'Computacar' earlier this year (see quote above) but it's been tucked out of sight in the box since.  Did find out it was  licenced from the 1969 Hasbro 'Amaze-A-Matics' range:

AstroVette is not catered-for quite as well, having the MPC kit in 1:25

123654Copyvi-vi.jpg.cfe60defab181a7f260b605e08a1e5b5.jpg

and Matrix's $100 model in 1:43, but that seems to be it.  Never seen a smaller scale rendition

s-l300.jpg.92db540b5afc0ca8d9cd24ca3e9a5d52.jpg

The real thing was originally pearlescent white, then went to orange for many years after retiring from the show circuit.

68chevrolet_astro-vette_012.jpg.b51fa905bd22554a56a177bd028fe331.jpg

It still lives-on today at the National Corvette Museum in Kentucky (the one that had the sinkhole upset a few years back) where it is back in its original colour

That is brilliant. It's not just the cars, its the seats & various other bits strewn about. However for me the best bit is the ground that looks like mud  & oil mixed, god I remember that shit from scrappy's back in the day.

That scrap yard scene is brilliant. Is that a multi story car park being built to the left?

I'm going to have to catch up on youtube.

£1.50.  25p more than Tescos annoyingly. But hopefully it's a way of getting older stock that we never got or missed.

Did they have much stock? Might have to have a look Sunday when I get some time.

Not many maybe 8 ish, but that type of shop can be hit or miss.

Are you after anything in particular?

Yeah I’ve worn a groove between my house and Tesco looking for a Honda Civic. 🤣

Ha, know the feeling. If you can't find one, I have a spare Civic now that I can send your way.

The bottom one is the earlier issue IIRC. I’d looked for one but they always are missing the front or the back or are absolutely fucked. Or a million quid still in the box.

Well now... I promised you some pictures.  Let's begin with the big yellow garage that's away upthread somewhere, that I restored a few years ago.

DSCN3364.thumb.JPG.a15f2bb6caabd8247404edda4c587265.JPG

It's turned into a busy forecourt!  All the cars are my own restorations too.  There's also a village garage...

DSCN3367.thumb.JPG.21987e7263ebecc186b9f970f7ba63ba.JPG

Keen eyes will recognise some Matchbox and Hot Wheels here.  The red Bentley is an old MB Silver Spirit with some slight resculpting.  This was in a charity shop in Ulverston and would have gone to the tip if I hadn't dug a quid out of my pocket.

And after a village garage, let's head to the big city...

DSCN3365.thumb.JPG.1cb38326ad4dc6e5755edac5c3f30529.JPG

DSCN3366.thumb.JPG.b85d670c52f8b6ad9087092aaeef180d.JPG

Remember I alluded to bringing something back from Down South?  I spotted this on Facebook, being offered FOC to anyone who could collect quickly, or it would be going to the tip.  I messaged former Shiter Mercrocker, who lives down that way, and he kindly collected it and stored it for me, and brought it to our Solent meetup last month.  It's a little bit warped, but I think I can straighten it up, and when I have, there's a verandah to go back on, over the main doors.  It's supposed to be Sun Hill police station!  It's huge, there's another piece of road that won't even fit on my antique table.

@paulplom said very recently he had sent me a little present... here it is.

Yes, the Dinky Vega Major coach!

DSCN3369.thumb.JPG.4679aa1808dde2af3413e6d5b17d8126.JPG

Still with the opening bootlid too!

He posted this up ages ago on TDW and I expressed an interest.  We both then forgot about it, until this week, when he kindly sent it to me.

DSCN3371.thumb.JPG.c80104285e95fccf51e18e90a3b3cf77.JPG

It's in remarkably good condition for a 50 year old toy!  There isn't a battery cover but there is a little barrier that swings across the battery space, so maybe that's all it's supposed to have.  I haven't put a battery in to test it yet.  This is one of those Dinky Toys I never had when I was a kid, so I'm especially delighted to have it now.

Those Dinky Vega coaches are really nice, I was lucky enough to find a boxed one last year.

The flip front coupled to the general awkwardness of the Monza would have made that a proper treasure as a kid. I’d have lost the flip front obviously 😆

Zylmex did a pretty good job of attaching them - my other Monza and Corvette still have them

Pretty sure Stompers and Rough Riders were different manufacturers, it was just the later Riders that had roof 'shifter' on/off/speed switch.  Stompers had their switch underneath

Would be great if you can find remains though as any motorised chassis I can try and get working again and reuse.  I have a pile of working motors, many sizes and voltages.  At the very least worth pulling the gearing and motor off to use again

Schafer Stompers / Corgi Trekkers

Approx what scale were they, anyone?

Found a Civic in the end, they only had one left so any notion of buying one to customise or spray silver like I remember every single one to be was out.

I had a Stomper track, with  what I believe was a Chevrolet Blazer on it.

I'd estimate about 1/40-ish scale - bigger than 1/43, for sure, but smaller than Corgi's 1/36 range.

Spotted this earlier and said to the wife “New Hotwheels in” and yes I did resist, though I’m regretting it now 😁

Not a lot to chose from really, picked up a few bags of 4 for £1 cars for a few interesting ones
