I got a hot tip about Hot Wheels in one of those little Tesco corner shops

Porsche is the second release with the inverted colour scheme. Not really a Merc fan but this one's cool, needs some gold Real Riders I reckon

I've this Matchbox-sized panel van by Welly, which looks like it was cloned from Siku's T4:

Detail's not amazing, but it's intact and would probably make a decent enough custom base.

Dunno if that's any use to you? 50p takes it.

Yeah sweet dude. Can you put it to one side for me, as I'm hoping another bus like the one I had off you will turn up soon?

Yes please @155V6

I did look today funnily enough.  He wants £20 for the Lotus by Fleischmann

If he will do a discounted deal on the two for us, while the cash is under his nose, even better!

Mission accomplished,no discount though 🙁20210622_161809.thumb.jpg.e23f1cec60ef7d4490ac5048c12ebe73.jpg

Trik-Trak was licenced from Transogram in the US by Tri-ang, which is likely why it seemed an odd fit to the rest of the range.  1968 does seem very late too.

I have a story to bore you.  Around ten years back we were out at my Wife's office 'do' and at some point around a restaurant table, one fella piped-up that as a child he always wanted a Trik-Trak and did anyone remember them.  Blank faces all round - including me.  So, him being a decent fella and coming-up to his 50th birthday soon, I hatched a plot.  I got hold of a set, bought blind through fleabay.  Thankfully, it was complete and I managed to get one of the cars in the set working.   Weeks later, the same crowd was out again, for his 50th meal and drinks.  It was presented as a gift across the restaurant table - a big box too.  Pretty sure this was the set:

Later that night, sloshed, we went back to his new flat (recent divorce, part of the reason to cheer him up) and, fuelled by more beers, we laid it out all over the floor.  The sight of grown men on their knees enjoying getting a motorised toy to drive itself about must have been great* fun for our Wives.

This is the car in a Trik-Trak.  Anyone got one?  I remember the drive was direct to one tyre:

They pop up occasionally, not valuable, just nostalgic for all of five minutes.

Aha that's the set I had with the roller coaster type frame thing

I gathered together my remaining Spot-Ons for a photo...

The Isetta is unrestored, and will stay that way.  Caravan and Fiat 500 have both been through my sprayshop; Bentley and A40 done with Humbrol.  A40 and Fiat represent cars I've owned; Bentley is about as close as I'll get to the one used on TV by Jason King (played by Peter Wyngard, first in Department S, then in his own series).  The Fiat cost an arm and a leg in repro parts, it would have been cheaper to put it in the bin and buy another off ebay!

Now then... one for @Heidel_Kakao!

Yes, I'm a Stalwart owner too!

Snap I have one of them too 😀 I currently own two real and four model Stolly's. Is there much Micro Machines discussion in this thread at all? I have more.

My Stalwart Dinky.

Can't bear the wheels !   Since when did Alvis fit ROstyle-esque Whizzwheeling efforts?

For that reason I can only look at it top-down.

No Micro Machines cars here, but I do quite like the buildings,as they just about work with 1/87 scale cars 20210623_123355.thumb.jpg.5781700da3376fa810636f594b4e05cc.jpg

Wouldn't it be great if Nemesis is seen sporting Purdey's tan boots on Friday.

I definitely need psychiatric evaluation. I probably didn't need more of these, but I was after a parts donor, and the Lone Star Jag was just too minty to resist

WHO DID IT WORSE?

The Simca 1100/1200.

On the left, Majorette's Simca 1100 TI

On the right, Guisval's Simca 1200

IMG_0690.thumb.JPG.a282e35549a67532f61f71dde48fd94e.JPG

Both approx 1:60 in scale and have good profiles.

IMG_0691.thumb.JPG.02b0ba8bafc4c235df65432781dc033d.JPG

Both have reasonable clochardes.

IMG_0692.thumb.JPG.051a29614ccc88e43d12c7823d1e40fe.JPG

But the Majorette has an OPENING THING.

IMG_0694.thumb.JPG.52f5b7f090bc692c2cfac3c4372afa4b.JPG

And the Majorette has a tow bar for towing something.

It's a pity that The Gaul had the 'the gall' to photobomb every photo.

Further Hot Wheels discoveries at Tesco last night:

Long card packaging too, for maximum artwork display.

Can confirm that the Mercedes really is lovely. Even the cast-in headlight wipers are visible.

The Simca 1100/1200.

That Guisval is the nicer to my mind, partly because we don't see many of the Spaniards over here.

The Gulper from earlier on had its engine unceremoniously hoised out and stuck in the bare metal base I've been doing for my fake colour trial version. I did try leaving it exactly as it was under the paint but it was messing with my head, so all got cleaned up. Leaving the chrome to dry overnight before swapping the shells

Also I don't know if anyone else noticed (or cares probably), but the Lone Star E Type is different again. The tatty one has flared wheelarches and a body line joining them

20210610_163053

The tidy red one has no flares but has the line

20210623_134342

The blue one doesn't have either, just a slight crease where the sills roll under

20210613_130018

I think you should* paint the flared-arch chipped one in Gulper pink and fix it, hinged, onto the Gulper base

Then Gus will really have a race car looking like a gulper

Posted

The E Type could swallow a Gulper whole and have room for a 1:64 too I reckon

NOM NOM NOM

Crikey!  I had no idea

Should've looked at the brickwork really

Must try harder

Talking of Gulpers (not that I often do), version 1.5 of the colour trial is done. I just couldn't live with the discoloured, tarnished finish I found under the black, even though it's closer to how the real thing is now - but this is how it would have looked when it was new

20210624_100424.thumb.jpg.6da51eaaceb398c8dc90d407aafbca01.jpg20210624_100511.thumb.jpg.0837f1a6f9e71da4831fb19936ca42c8.jpg20210624_100519.thumb.jpg.b274099a24f98032495962dc129c4cfc.jpg

as a bonus I have a perfect base to plonk another body on. Maybe a Milligans Mill for a change

Our local collectibles shop survived the pandemic (he said the gov loans got him through). So I put a fiver in his pocket for these 4. All should be saveable somehow...
