The morning started cool and overcast, but the clouds (of cannabis smoke mostly) soon parted, revealing copies of Katie Price's biographies, worn out lawnmowers and even a bathtub. Also, die casts. There were some familiar sellers still trying to peddle the same stuff that was there weeks ago at over-inflated prices, but also some new faces with bargains - I even got a couple of freebies! Highest price I paid was 6 for £5, but most were 10-50p each

I might have to break this up into a few posts but here are some of this morning's goodies. 

Matchbox Ferrari Berlinetta has been on my hit list for a while, not a Ferrari guy but these are quite pretty

Matchbox Ford Group 6, I have loads of these so one more can't hurt

Marzal with wheel alignment problems

With roof but without spare tyre - only clocked the MK1 Cortina/CND rear lights when I took this pic

Funny old world - it was only yesterday one of these was offered up for £4 @Spottedlaurel

I have two spare doors for this after confirming that they don't fit the earlier green version

Acquired because it's the earlier version with licence plates...

...and because I hadn't seen this in black. It's a bit broken but at least the spoiler's intact

Into commercial stuff now, thought this was a Tonka but it's Tri-Ang

and I found another

Corgi Major crane is obviously missing some vital parts but may well help another one get restored

Kingsize Hydraulic Excavator isn't in bad shape...

But this one is better

Lesney Ruston Bucyrus is a new one on me

As is this - made in France and has 5 little dudes on board

Dinky Ford D800 is uber cool

But seems to be missing some essential parts

Very tidy, complete Superkings Fire Tender has decent ladder reach

Siku Mercedes LP 608 has funky green glass...

...shame it's missing one of the two ramps

King Size Leyland Tipper has lost the rear gate and one tyre, plus its hydraulic ram(?)

King Size Ford Tractor is also missing...something

Superkings DAF has already dropped its load

This was a freebie that I nearly missed - after clearing the table of the majority of the seller's 50p bits, he picked this up and said "Lone Star - never heard of them". I have

Into bigger cars now, Corgi Corvette has the usual broken bumpers

And this Toyota 2000GT has lost part of its screen - beautiful colour though

C111  prepares for take off

Land Rover has broken glass but I hadn't seen one with a winch before

Someone cranked up the boost too high and cracked the supercharger on their Milligan's Mill

Cambuster has no engine but full complement of exhausts

Slightly less than £1 netted me this 505, it's missing a headlight

This was probably my best car find, despite odd distortion in the wheelarches. 50p's worth of Corgi Mercedes Pullman limo

Sorry, I got sidetracked and am now home. It probably won't be much, almost every item of his stock which interested me was very reasonably priced. Will definitely see him again, if it's still there and reasonable I'll  grab it for you.

This was only my second visit to my new local* boot sale (55mile round trip) and it's a good bit smaller than the Essex ones I was used to but the sun was out and it was nice to be outside on a Sunday morning. There seems to be one dedicated diecast regular here, last time we got to chatting and before long he was imploring me to join his Faceache group (Dumfries diecast, if anyone's interested) but I don't have a profile on there and don't intend to start now. Nonetheless he evidently noticed me from a good twenty yards this morning and immediately beckoned me over,saying something like "you like the older stuff don't you?". This is only just not quite my cup of tea, but sort of too nice to leave, if you see what I mean. One scratch on the rear screen, fairly filthy but intact interior (that poor chauffeur seems to be regretting last night's lamb jalfrezi..) and relatively minor chipping. The most expensive item of the morning at eight quid, if anyone fancies it speak up.

This is a keeper however. Come across a few of these over the last couple of years and have always managed to justify not buying one. Certainly better and considerably less expensive than the one in the Sawbridgeworth junk shop which was the last one to niggle me. Actually quite a good effort made by Corgi, particularly the dashboard. Never really appreciated that before now.

It's a lovely sunny afternoon here, definitely the warmest this year so far. Lying in the garden I can hear a good number of motorcycles heading through the Mennock Pass. Can't blame them either, it's a fine scenic drive. However, you all know what that means.. The fuzz are here. Dumfries-shire plod clearly haven't had any new kit for a looong time. They haven't even got a radio or a boot full of shit, how can they carry on? They do have another fine dashboard to look at though. Happy to pass this on if one of you wants it, it was too nice to leave behind at three quid.

Second dibs please! If Eddie gets struck by lightning or something, that would make a smashing replacement for mine, which became rather playworn when I was a nipper. Those Essex living room carpet car chases are tough.

Same seller had a Corgi Plod XJC, pretty reasonable but cracked screen and the Chevy police car a good bit rougher with no screen at all. He appears to specialise in buses and lorries, I ought to have taken more photos but had to watch the time a little.

I must try to catch the live coverage next time. I've been working on the 1/1 all day and away from more pleasurable pursuits.

I remember these in Woolworth when they came out. I bought a Mk3 "Grahame Hill" Cortina instead, but kind of wish I had the Marina now...
