I've just passed on a price to Eddy (above) but I'm happy for you to work it out among yourselves. I noticed that the Anglia is in need of a wing mirror repair when I opened the box, but is in otherwise lovely shape, so how would £8 + P&P sound? Happy to bundle a few up to combine postage too. Thank you for the bids as well, they're much appreciated. I still have some more to add on there as well, so keep an eye too.

Hey, thanks! Very interested in the blue Anglia, and also interested in the Stags too - could you pop the three of them to one side for now, and see how things fall at close of auction next week? The Dolomite Sprint is lovely, but I already have one!

The Stags nearly ended up in the keep pile, due to the fact that my Dad had one when I was a kid, but both were the wrong colour really. Anyone know if any company did a Stag in dark red/maroon?

No maroon ones that I've seen; the only other reasonably common Stag castings I know about was the James Bond collection partwork models, which included a yellow Stag, and the 2000s-era Vanguards versions which included a purplish version.

I daresay there's some high-end white metal versions around in such a colour, but they can be daft prices...

Consider it done mate.

Just been looking at the Vanguards Stags, looks as though they did just about every colour but the one I'd want haha. Still, probably saves me some money.

Don't suppose anyone would want to split these with me?

I want the Tavria and maybe a coupe of others....

Well, I can see why you might be wanting a Tavria, of course...

Some very nice stuff in there, mind:

I count 31 models in the pictures, so there seems to be a duplicate or two in there (two green Alekos, for a start).

I already have a fair few of these - but I'm interested in your proposition here!

I reckon we'd be looking at £80 or so delivered from Italy, assuming no further taxes or imports due, putting it in at £2.60 or so per model... now that's tempting.

I've the usual Friday Market Tat happening tomorrow, so I don't want to overstretch myself in case there's diecast galore happening - but maybe have a chat about this tomorrow afternoon?

Excellent, thank you!

Some of the Vanguards really do go for big money these days - I can see why, as they're usually very decent models, but I pretty much stopped buying them in the late 2000s once the prices started to creep north of £15 new.

The only model shop near to me now sells new ones at £35, with secondhand stuff online fetching ever-more outlandish prices... but sometimes I strike it lucky with finds at the market, or at Cash Converters (weirdly).

Yeah, they seem to be really great looking models to be fair. They only really appeared at the back end of my proper collecting years before the temptations of being a teenager took over so I never delved that deeply into them, but the few times I've been in model shops over the years I've been very impressed with the ones I've seen, particularly the eighties and nineties stuff which is a far cry from what they were making when I was collecting.

We were talking about Corgi Golden Jacks recently, so today I decided to drag some of mine out.

1877327420_RR007.thumb.jpg.678e9062f6ea32d946dace4debe0f941.jpg

L-R: Corvette, unrestored; Hillman Hunter, made up to resemble the one I had in 1982; Mini Marcos, restored in random yellow.

Naturally I forgot one!

Toronado, wearing what I know as Corvette wheels (the green Vette has them too) but don't they just look right on it!

Well... it's a nice morning for it.

513714880_IMG_20210507_0830322.thumb.jpg.146d6ef6922080a839abcc58825c786b.jpg

But still kinda quiet.

1450706179_IMG_20210507_0818192.thumb.jpg.fb2e0bdd086d4caf3bff62e284f912f8.jpg

The question that's burning in everyone's mind this morning... is there tat?

There is tat.

1683726884_IMG_20210507_0805432.thumb.jpg.86548c3cedfa3b3854574380cab79f37.jpg

Although...

1329180594_IMG_20210507_0806272.thumb.jpg.594a9aad61a1f043111636ab9b672cec.jpg

As we all know, there's tat - and then there's utter tat.

And... I think we may be in the latter camp today, tat-fans.

52826198_IMG_20210507_0806312.thumb.jpg.6cd573d370ff35b01cb154e7d60e8ec3.jpg

Mmm... a hearty stallful of Days Gone and Models of Yesteryear. Yum. And annoyingly, absolutely none of the 1/76 buses from last week, for which I had a list as long as my arm.

Clearly, this is my punishment for beaking off work to go to the market, when I should be throwing together a briefing for the Minister's Adjournment Debate on Tuesday about the A4 Bypass at Enniskillen.

Well, let's look a little closer...

1186514615_IMG_20210507_0807292.thumb.jpg.1197d1ca130bfee4c595d04b0e48310b.jpg

Some early Lledo Vanguards 1/55-ish in the mix, plus some bumperless Corgi Classics and all. Fire Service Land Rover is a Solido effort.

977031764_IMG_20210507_0807312.thumb.jpg.0144f491381df109fe1d2a0c9866b446.jpg

No-name Omega Peelermobile looking a bit chipped and dusty here and there - but yours for £2, if the fancy takes you.

70698822_IMG_20210507_1013332.thumb.jpg.11f1c22af862ba5de129369a2f5fd7ac.jpg

Late 90s Vanguards Anglebox is missing its mirrors, but otherwise in decent enough shape.

1357878395_IMG_20210507_0812192.thumb.jpg.0792bcc5cd724bcc197c81c53797414f.jpg

Unusual MoY Lincoln Zephyr wasn't one I've ever seen before; an early '90s casting, rather than the usual 70s/80s tat.

803920087_IMG_20210507_0813122.thumb.jpg.ae36e1f10b602c0fba522356327a0669.jpg

Boxed MoY and vintage-era Corgi Classics, at a fiver a throw, were perhaps a smidge optimistic.

More petrol station promos too, in the form of Shell 'Classico' models - quality and detail-wise, these look broadly similar to the earlier Maisto range (i.e. not great).

1321923701_IMG_20210507_0813172.thumb.jpg.463808f76802c8ba556248861d2b3e92.jpg

Lledo and yet more Corgi along the same lines.

No less than three boxed Lledo Tetley Tea Model T Ford vans; I can remember my grandmother saving up the box tokens to get me one of these around 1989 or so. A bit of a nostalgia tug, then, but not enough to make me put my hand in my pocket.

The small white Corgi boxes drew my attention, though... what treasures could lurk within?

239582748_IMG_20210507_0812542.thumb.jpg.edec09a523f34594a40aec89b1b06f80.jpg

Oh. Cameo Collection Kelloggs Cornflakes promos, that's what. Bah.

Up top though, in the £5 section, were a few oddities, mind...

58444778_IMG_20210507_0806432.thumb.jpg.5d2d13a19e270616087dbcd95f1c37eb.jpg

Well, one oddity anyway.

Any idea?

1056554123_IMG_20210507_0807032.thumb.jpg.0b25f657a6d46c3b7b0b215c90214836.jpg

A very short, very wide bus.

892291771_IMG_20210507_0807122.thumb.jpg.3e128d1cbce4a7cbe5e1734a110e2f11.jpg

No manufacturer name, beyond the stylised 'Y' logo.

Wheels suggest 1970s, maybe? No earlier.

1072361942_IMG_20210507_0807193.thumb.jpg.61a32139a25c223c7aa0f624cd47ca37.jpg

It's rather crude, but still somehow quite appealing. £5 on this yoke. Not sure if it's quite @quicksilver's cup of tea...

More Solido fire stuff too, including a highly unlikely articulated Mercedes truck in New York Fire Department colours. Range Rover not bad, though only partially cased.

462940596_IMG_20210507_1013152.thumb.jpg.8ef2ed16bf5110b8f168e399e9d22492.jpg

A larger scale Bburago Citroen Traction was the only 'big model' today.

1698356283_IMG_20210507_0812312.thumb.jpg.a9b9d511bb93d4ea6d130656813108e3.jpg

No other diecast on the 'main stall'; just the kind of toys that are less likely to scratch that diecast itch.

987180926_IMG_20210507_0811442.thumb.jpg.69ef43fbef1da2d52bf09de523db9517.jpg

There were a few car handbooks on the stall today, but not the Morris Ital one requested - yet.

237086118_IMG_20210507_0812002.thumb.jpg.d8ced56278c272cc345791eede4aa072.jpg

These were definitely kicking around early last year - Chrysler Alpine, Austin Allegro, Toyota Starlet and BMC 1100/1300 are under the rather excellent Maestro one (actually, I wonder if this holds any interest for @vulgalour?)

And really, that was about the size of it for the Tat Stall today, I'm afraid... slightly anticlimactic, and although more pics from the other stalls are upcoming, be warned - it probably won't set your collective tat lovin' hearts a-flutter.

More to follow!

So then - beyond the Tat Stall, it was kind of a case of same old, same old.

The Junkman's stock remained steady; I'm just wondering how long it'll take before I cave and buy the Dinky SD1.

1931404304_IMG_20210507_0814562.thumb.jpg.ae495d62d671a9d12f04be08d015de1a.jpg

Place your bets, people.

Paddy's Overpriced Market, shockingly, hasn't sold much either.

470230247_IMG_20210507_0815322.thumb.jpg.bb58db6dd90d68127b038db16839b852.jpg

The Irish Tatware stall retains its Oxfords and Cararama; the Mk1 Capris are quite tempting, it's true...

1244513595_IMG_20210507_0816052.thumb.jpg.2ce133234b09c2cbac41ea8c01f4b6c8.jpg

Another stall across the way, run by the same stallholder, had a few more Hot Wheels this week, but not a lot to pull me in.

2112602038_IMG_20210507_0819392.thumb.jpg.0dccda900ee043a1308ea0bd64a895c4.jpg

The Charity Stall contained the same beat-up Tonkas and Corgis as last week; thought the £15 Escort seems to be sold, thereby proving that the Greater Fool Theory is still operating as well as it ever did.

Didn't get any pics, as the stall fella was messing around directly in front of the diecast and I didn't want to invite any further generous* offers for the remaining rubbish.

I did see one of my other nemeses from Tat Central (I now have several; but this wasn't The Nemesis) make off with that cartoon Dodge Charger from last week; since he was also buying unboxed Days Gone from Market Blokey, my opinion of him remains low.

Alan's Emporium did have some new stock, mind...

220290297_IMG_20210507_0825402.thumb.jpg.88748f0118c4370657351e20b25512f5.jpg

Well, sort of.

White Mitsubishi Evo is by Bburago, but is unfortunately missing its windscreen. Still, 25p takes it!

Also...

1004341363_IMG_20210507_0825532.thumb.jpg.234e99bf05a341db03ce37a2e5d902b7.jpg

Some of these have definitely shown up before - the Aer Lingus Welly Toyota, for one, and the Lesney Lonesome Onesome for another. Very cheap-looking Jaguar XJ220 in gold was a mild oddity, though.

1508365758_IMG_20210507_0827122.thumb.jpg.a51baa2ebbf9d9fee65fc2acc24e5747.jpg

LWB MK3 Transit is common enough in police trim, but I hadn't seen it before wearing battenburg ambulance colours.

Blue Clio II V6 is by Maisto; weird silver roadster is by Tomica, but says 'Captain Phaser' on the back and 'Lucasfilm' underneath, so I'm guessing it's some kind of weird Star Wars-inspired thing, like the ones Hot Wheels were banging out a few years ago.

Good to see some different stuff back - but I'm gonna guess it'll be a while before we start seeing some primo chod on the stalls again, as car boot sales (and public auctions) still remain shuttered for the time being.

While the 'stay at home' order has been lifted over here, official advice remains 'stay local'.

But, I didn't leave empty handed...

I disagree.  He is firmly on the cusp of something special and is welcome to buy them all up to clear the table

Yellow and white Corvette looks interesting if it's a couple of quid

Well, funny you should say that...

Coffee and chocolate croissant in hand, I rambled over to the waterfront to stage an impromptu photoshoot of today's rubbish.

802470528_IMG_20210507_0851122.thumb.jpg.92e9125cf9ddbab9d922617457e41e3a.jpg

So the Corvette was indeed picked up - a Matchbox Powertrack item, complete but filthy. The tyres are the usual delightful mix of nicely cracked while also lightly oozing their plasticiser to produce a fragile, high gloss finish - but I guess that's forty year old rubber for you. The body is actually excellent, with no scratching or impact damage.

Available for £2, if anyone's interested!

EDIT: someone's interested!!

I also picked up the Solido LWB Defender, which is equally mucky and a bit yellow around the roof, but otherwise unchipped and complete. I'll take better pics once I'm home, but this is yours for £2 also.

The yellow Mercedes Sprinter in Deutsche Post livery is a Siku, and is complete with opening rear doors and also very good paint. This previously showed up on the stall way back last autumn, so it's fascinating to see what he's still pulling out. £2 takes it.

EDIT: agreed sale!!

The Corgi Classics Cortina Mk1 isn't one I have any real need of, but it's in reasonable nick with only a few small chips and some paint bubbling - could be a decent custom or resto base, for £2?

EDIT: spoken for!!

Lastly, the sole Corgi 1/36 on the stall - a Bond BMW Z3. I picked this up largely because CogSr owned one of these in the same colour (minus the headlight-firing missiles, though). This also showed up last year, when I inadvertently shot one of the missiles across the market and spent ten minutes looking for it (and found it, I hasten to add). Dunno if it's there still now, though - I'll check when I'm not sitting beside a body of water...

So there y'go... I might go for a last wander just in case some giffer's wandered in with a crate of boxed Spot-On and swapped it for some Royal Albert side plates, but I think that could be it for this week... Some you win, hey?

You're the slot car guy so go for it - probably worth plenty more than £2, would be quite nice to put in my collection but I was thinking it was a cheap pull-back I could customise.

1st refusal when your mrs makes you sell it though...

Playart bus going by the wheels.

Interesting - I tried a reverse Google Lens search and they brought back a Maxwell Toys item - made in India.

Looks like a match to me, especially going by the box illustration, but yes the wheels do suggest Playart!

Any takers at a fiver for this oddity?

Could* be worth much* more than that...
