Probably should sort the Corgi Cabinet out in the next wee while... I've had the new glass shelves cut for months, just haven't managed to rummage through the shed to find suitable brackets yet. It should DOUBLE my display capacity!

Currently showing off these...

...and these.

(The Kojak Buick is being held over for @bunglebus, but it's in here for now)

And three additional shelves should allow me to add in these...

Oh, and these too.

Plus a few others that are still in a box somewhere, including the two-tone Toyota Supra.

Of course, my eyes keep straying to eBay...

You can see I have developed a Corgitronics collecting problem over the last few months.  I am still twitching.

Except.  In these pictures there is an imposter.  Which one is it?

The motor inside the load turns one rear wheel.  Forwards and backwards are available, switching between the two when operating the sonic 'clicker'.  Notice the canted front axle, so when reversing, it steers to the right.  This was sealed new-in-box for 35 years or so, until opened by one person.  Me.

Major want.. Right up until I saw the price. I'm not (that much of) a cheapskate but my 1:1 example seems excellent value by comparison.

You need the Edward Force Corgi book, it’s a fantastic resource, albeit not as good as the Marcel Van Cleemput tome.

Despite that, oiling the friction flywheel motor made all the difference.

I thought it was a trade catalogue, until I saw the Stockist stamp box!

Quite a few in there that were never released.  Also some obvious pre-production set-ups - example being C1180 using the Corgitronics tractor unit (look at the axle)

I had quite a few Corgis right from that era but there must not have been many from 1984. The ones I see which I have are the Dunlop Escort van and the blue juniors MK3 Escort. The others there are in different colours to mine.

Never seen that Escort before.  Were many of those on that page released?

I have the BASF BMW and the ELF Renault but in yellow/red.

Dusted this off, earlier:

Corgi BMW M1 in BASF livery.  Assumed 1/36, not measured it but it does look neatly done

F0595D96-CB40-45F2-9C6E-7362DFDCF9DD.thumb.jpeg.4945e81bca7bda1817d32fc1b09d3740.jpeg

Not really looked closely until now.  Generic wheels aside, it does look very smart in this livery (well ok, to moi) and tampo print is very good.  Seats are painted too.  ‘MADE IN GT BRITAIN’, it states proudly underneath

526153FC-058F-4473-AFFA-8E5F3E7A3E73.thumb.jpeg.cbce248f818032fcc146988da086ba92.jpeg

Deck lid lifts to show chromed injectors.  About the only distraction is the unpainted shut, but perhaps that could be blacked-in to stop the OCD shakes.  Maybe detail the lights both ends too, while out with the paint pens.

Got this out with a few others, with view to selling.  But no, decided to keep it as too tidy to throw to the wolves

I mean, what will it achieve?  A pint of Euro fizz?  At least that’s what I’ll tell the wife tomorrow when she spots it in the lounge on display and climbs the walls again.

Anyhow, the livery is as reproduction of the 1980 Hans-Georg Bürger (RIP) ProCar BASF-sponsored car, driven through 1981 by Hans-Joachim Stuck (#80) after Bürger's death in F2.

IIRC he still had the Deuce but his rail was towed by a pickup, most likely driven by another team member.  I think it had a camper back on it, like Clint's in Any Which Way You Can.

Incidentally the little purple HW that hasn't been identified yet is stamped underneath "32 Ford Vicky", the body style being known as a Victoria originally.

Now you mention it it rings a bell white/pale stepside as well as his coupe.  think Terry the toad was part of the team/crew chief.

Before his callup to Vietnam.

I bought clear plastic brackets at Screwfix, they were well under a fiver for a pack that's got far more than you'll ever need.

Hope you didn't skimp on the thickness of the glass - I found that the originals in my cabinet were bowing somewhat under the weight of 1:36 Corgis, so when I got some additional ones cut I got them a bit thicker. The originals then went higher up with the Juniors, Majorettes etc.

I think you're thinking of Every Which Way But Loose

In 'But Loose', Philo Beddoe ran a 1956 Chevrolet 3100 with the camper attachment

In 'You Can', he ran a 1966 GMC Fenderside, with no sleeping quarters.

Manual steering on both.  So a bit heavy for right and left turns, Clyde.

While on the subject, Logan ran a 1989 Ford F-250 fitted with a camper attachment

I'll go now.

I've been on the lookout for the rare white release of the Gus's Gulper, drawn a blank so far so decided to create my own. I've seen replacement decals for sale so need to track them down, of course I sold the tatty one I had so had to purchase another

Just a bit chipped but all there so shouldn't be too hard. Both were from the same seller, as was...

20210104_154039

I've been having strange visions of building a camper body - I also need to find a method of repairing or replacing the glass section as it's cracked. Those of you who also have one - does yours have a shelf behind the cab? This does

20210104_154119

While my other two do not

20201211_17002220200725_143350

I don't know if that's an addition by a previous owner or just another bit that goes missing like the crane

No skimpage, and no bowing either, thankfully - I got 8mm toughened glass shelves cut for the beefy Corgis, as opposed to the thinner 6mm shelves cut for the smaller box frames (which are fine, as they only ever hold three 1/43s at a maximum).

The three shelves currently fitted on the existing brackets seem happy enough, anyway!

I'd planned to just fit lengths of stout dowel to the sides of the cabinet to act as supports for the others, but those Screwfix supports look pretty good for a mere £3.99 - better weight distribution on a flat bearing area, anyway.

A spot of measurement and a bit of drilly-drilly should hopefully see them all up, thanks!
