Mine was 8 years old at the time, picked up for £250; those were the days. Even then it was sneered at by the 'car lads' in my town - I vividly remember showing my new £250 purchase off that night, for the only response to be 'but it's a Renault'. Did the Metropolitan Police really use the Porsche 944 with 924GT Le Mans body kits? However, the engine makes a right din. Farmer Tom is now deaf. The Hemi engine casting even has the plug leads. The headers are cast too, I originally assumed they were plastic. It looks quite bare, but 17 separate pieces made up this model. Same Sunday car boot, but this time a £1 deal. Well, it is missing the glazing and driver. I assumed this was a work of fiction so was surprised that it turns out L323 JMO was indeed a Porsche police car and there's a photo at https://www.porscheregister.com/l323-jmo. It's a 968 though as the 944 had gone out of production by then, presumably a demonstrator trialled by the Met. DVLA says it had an LPG conversion and was exported in 2010. The red spot on the roof I think is something to do with police helicopter crews identifying their cars on the ground. Modern cop cars usually have their call signs marked on the roof too. eddyramrod, flat4alfa, andrew e and 1 other

quicksilver
So it had a sunroof, a weird fitment on a cop car that would explain the lack of blues and twos. The livery looks nicely authentic but it's a shame they used the wrong model of Porsche. Did any of the toy manufacturers ever make a 968? I did find another photo of L323 JMO as a plain white 968 with red ClubSport graphics, presumably after it was decommissioned by the police. Yes, apparently these Hong Kong built toys are both Bedford CF vans. Hmm. Of the two, the white one seems to be slightly better quality in terms of its detailing, while the black one is somewhat cruder in its shaping. They're very very similar, but not the same at all. I can almost believe that the one on the right is a CF1 Facelift/CF2, though the black one is less convincing - the indicators are in completely the wrong place. The white van looks rather less slab-sided, and the rear lights would suggest the aftermarket units popular on Australasian-market CF1 models - because it doesn't match the standard 'long' UK spec rear light on the original vans, and definitely not the much wider units fitted to the CF2. Interesting all the same! I can sleep at night now, finally achieving both casting 'types' of the Hong Kong Bedford not-a-CF The blue 'Rainbow' one is unbranded, just stating 'BEDFORD' and the recessed flank swage line detail is much clearer Grim. quicksilver
Someone mentioned Metosul the other day and that reminded me they had made this. No, I haven't flipped the pictures, it really is a LHD Leyland Atlantean. These are quite sought after and go for strong money, especially when boxed, but I found this one for a reasonable BIN and it arrived a few days ago. I thought it was a repaint at first but it turns out the slightly iffy masking and hand painted detailing is factory finish. A few chips here and there but it's in a pretty good state. It's not just a mirror-image copy of the Dinky toy though. There's a host of detail changes when you compare them. eddyramrod
Can you tell it's too wet outside to work on Huggy? I dug out my boxed Corgi 1/36s, I think this is all of them; not very many.
