Shite in Miniature II

I remember the Siku 190 from the catalogue well as it was quite 2 W124 like in its proportions.

Now, I recall I had a pull-back 190 in grey which was a rip off of the Superkings version. I don't think I still have it, but I will check!

Ah - that'll be why then. It's OK on newer castings but I've heard of it dissolving older stuff due to different metals in the alloy. It eats aluminium for example.

The first Superkings I had was the metallic blue Mercedes 190E 2.5. I got the beige Taxi spec one after.

I was actually walking backwards to avoid being papped, I'm not exactly photogenic ?

Yes.  Do not put 1950s-70s turned (not cast) wheels in.  Corgi and Spot-on wheel surfaces lose a couple of mm so are ruined.  Dinky wheels e.g. FAB1 are reduced to dust.  You will know when it is happening if you see the bubbles on the surface rising from a specific spot

Older castings can have odd areas eaten away.  I have a very frilly arch on a Corgi Beetle while the rest is sound; so the metallurgy must have been sightly different there.

Perhaps you are pappogenic then  ?

By Dinky Toys - it's a rather nice model and good quality too.  Bought loose, over 20 years ago and the paint etc has stood the test very well.   I had a thing about the Tucker so was very pleased to find this, at the time I never knew it had been modelled by a 'toy-priced' manufacturer

I hadn't thought of that, thank you.

Chuffed to find this one. This is the first 2000GT I've got, it's a lovely casting. Looks like there's an Olympic themed collection in the pipeline.

Yes, the not-happening 2020 Olympics. I wonder if there will be a set for whenever it actually happens? Gorgeous casting too

I got the Chevelle's bodyshell painted yesterday:

It needs another coat or two, but it's going nicely so far.

Poor old Fairlady is back to square one again. I think Fiat do/did a pastel blue on the 500, so that could be a source of replacement paint.

Posted

I like the Fairlady like that to be honest - great paint on the Chevelle, love a bit of yellow

Posted

I agree on the Fairlady.  Perfect opportunity to make a 1979 California student's old banger!  Perhaps soften a couple of tyres slightly, and paint a whitewall on just one?

And yes, Chevelle is looking very smart too.

I've never known a car boot to take place on a Weds?

This is unusual in that respect locally at least. Of course, despite muttering "don't just buy shit because you can" to myself almost all the way here my resolve lasted literally about twenty fucking paces... Two quid for a Corgi Thunderbird? SOLD!

Never mind the whisky: yellow Sierra and not one but two R5 Turbos!  That should get one or two of our number excited...

I'm interested in the Red 1.24 Fiat Uno if you can get it?

Also, does anyone have a 1.24 Fiat Punto for sale by any chance?

I'm here for about another hour, I'll swing back by if you'll go a tenner on it?
