what make is the Cavalier coupé?

That's a proper Opel Manta

I had a Manta in that very colour for my second car.

Is that a Schuco Opel Manta? Either way, there's some excellent examples there. I'm hoping that with that calibre of a collection, you have a few 1/43s, too...

I've got a couple of those Playart Opel Senators, too:

A really nice casting, unlike a lot of their efforts!

Dammit I was trying to be clever saying Cavalier coupé rather than Manta!

Some really unusual stuff there

The difference is the two slats cut on the nose.  Cavalier Coupe and Sports Hatch (despite being built on same line at Genk) had the pressing kept without the cuts being punched out.

Chevair had the same front on the sedans too

Most recent purchases. The Mini cost about double the 500, but I'd been after them both for a while. Innocenti Mini next hopefully.

I've also bought something highly unusual, but it's being shipped from Italy. So I'll have it eventually.

Just discovered Corgi got this close to producing a Gamma Coupé in the late '70s... what an utter waste. This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. One of the cars I always regretted wasn't modelled by anyone in period

A few more little projects done;

Corgi Zakspeed Capri always annoyed me as the wheels and arches were way too small. Had a set of wheels hanging around that suited it better

DeLoreans have to be brushed bare metal. Tried sanding it but it looked wrong, wire wheel finish was as close as I could get, then painted the "plastic" bits silver and found some wheels similar to the originals

If AUTOart comes up with a 1:18 Gamma Coupé I might have to contemplate which part of my anatomy to put on the market.

Yup, that Gamma would have been an absolute corker if it'd gone ahead... apparently Corgi also had a Fuego in the works, after the successful partnership with Renault on the R11, but sadly Mettoy hit the rocks before it had reached production. The Van Cleemput book has a short chapter on prototypes that I've been slavering over lately.

In other tragic mini-near-misses, the Mk2 Escort with the BSM cone was apparently meant as a 1/35 replacement for the VW Beetle Driving School Car - but for whatever reason we ended up, quite a bit later, with the steering Triumph Acclaim instead. Ah well.

Don't forget a Triumph Acclaim is worth five Escorts.

It's the rules.

..Besides, just look at it...     There's been more accurate scaling by a Zylmex employee on drunk Friday afternoon.  ?

Blasphemy! There's a dire lack of die cast MK2 Escorts, wish Matchbox had done a standard one instead of the RS2000

Looking at the steering lock on that Escort I can see why Corgi didn't do the Gamma as the driving school car,

My first driving school car was a mk2 Escort, WCK 726 R.  It was horrible, and I doubt even I would have such a model in my collection.

Plenty of slot car bodyshells you could build from, if you wanted to upscale

Prototype sold for £750.

I paid a bit more for my 1:1 scale one, which also has opening doors and (tell me about it) bonnet, but I haven’t had much more play value out of it.

Me mam found this while clearing stuff out. I think I got it when I was 6 or 7. No wonder why I am now on this forum.

Lovely work egg.

That looks smashing.

Love the level of detail on these older Matchbox castings.

Smoll Eddy approves.

It's a bosozoku-style fantasy, with pointers to the Datsun C110 Skyline 'Ken-Mari'; one of two takeyari-equipped bubble-flared shark-nosed zokusha in the Hot Wheels lineup since 2012.

No, I doubt I could read that through again either.

I knew it was bosozoku, just couldn't quite tell which car. Thanks for the info. ?

There's a coupe version, too, I did think about getting the cabrio one for a custom but I'd already done the first version;

Got this Matchbox Opel Diplomat finished today. Tried to keep it in a period colour, painted the interior grey as white seemed wrong. Left all the casting marks etc on the body as it's so small I was worried I'd get rid of something that was meant to be there. Just a bit of silver and chrome paint to finish, engine bay is unrestored.
