Not the best moment in my life, so treated myself to some applejack and had some fun :-). Will do the detailing and glue the base once it is fully cured.

If you'd like the coach to go with it, you're welcome to it! ;-)

Picked up a SuperKings 305 at a boot sale for a quid, didn't know Matchbox even made one, what an odd choice . Noticed it had just crossed Africa on my kitchen tablecloth, which seems sort of apt, as most of my memories of 80's Pug stories in CAR involved Africa.

VERY SMOL KOLLEKSHUN FOR VERY SMOL SHITE:

attachicon.gif20180623_104005.jpg

Breakfast.

attachicon.gif20180623_102644.jpg

Early start (for a lazy ganch like moi).

attachicon.gif20180623_102611.jpg

The reason.

attachicon.gif20180623_102402.jpg

The method.

attachicon.gif20180623_102510.jpg

Nice morning for it, anyway. ^^ Two for joy.

attachicon.gif20180623_102544.jpg

DESTINATION ACHIEVED. MUCH EXCITE.

attachicon.gif20180623_095238.jpg

Are they open? Are they closed? Hell, even they don't seem to know.

attachicon.gif20180623_101302.jpg

BOOM!

attachicon.gif20180623_101947.jpg

Record time for KOLLEKSHUN?

Precision minishite tools...

attachicon.gif20180623_104314.jpg

Oh yes.

attachicon.gif20180623_104350.jpg

Oh very yes.

attachicon.gif20180623_104403.jpg

attachicon.gif20180623_104414.jpg

Ver' nice.

attachicon.gif20180623_104742.jpg

attachicon.gif20180623_104753.jpg

The money shot(s). Come on, it's the doors that get you too, right? A much neater job than Dinky GB managed on the MkIV Zodiac, IMHO.

attachicon.gif20180623_110536.jpg

Just as I imagined it, and drooled over it, thirty years ago.

Is it as good as an original? No, of course not.

attachicon.gif20180623_104844.jpg

It looks kinda 'bright', while the paintwork suffers from a few of the blemishes Atlas are (were?) known for.

But is it in my cabinet?

attachicon.gif20180623_105805.jpg

HELL YES!!

I even evicted a Renault Fuego to make room for it.

Many thanks to Junkman for giving me this stunning opportunity, and for his courteous updates and scrupulous posting and packing. Much satisfaction, 72/10, would highly recommend for all minishite acquisition purposes.

attachicon.gif20180623_110318.jpg

Bonus opportunity to brush up my Dutch, too.

I HAZ OVERJOY.

attachicon.gifbrilliant.jpg

EDIT: Paint blemishes are by no means a bad thing - it may make it a much easier decision to go for a repaint at some point...

That was a collection caper in miniature?

Dutch-

The A4 was closed because of an accident. Red crosses on the gantry.

And Krakers are squatters.

.iirc they came with a sheet of number plates and country badge stickers for the boot

Here are just a few of the Datsuns that feature in the Tomica collection which I bought from Mr. Cog.

I have always wanted some 70s and 80s everyday Japanese cars in my collection but they are hard to find at an affordable price.

I absolutely love them!

^^^ Nice Corgis there - I had a fair few of those!

Still find it weird that both Corgi and Matchbox produced versions of the Matra Rancho in both small and large sizes, for many years, even though real-life versions were quite a rare sight on UK roads - yet no French toymaker made any, to my knowledge?

Would love to be proved wrong - they just used to really confuse me because toyshops were full of them but I'd never seen one on the road, and the name 'Matra' meant nothing to me!

It was indeed a very small collection caper...

But I only realised later on that no collection thread is complete without the obligatory...

(Damn you, focal length)

Thanks for the Dutch pointers, too! I once knew a girl whose mother was from the Netherlands - she taught me a few basic phrases, but I've long since forgotten them!

Hey Datsuncog, continuing our childhood Galaxie syncronicity into adulthood, I too have an Atlas repro waiting for me at the post office for collection. Sadly my post office is not in walking distance and is only open when I'm at work. Helpful*

Daah, that's deeply annoying... here's hoping you get the chance to pick yours up before too long.

Spooky, eh!!!

Now this is an oddball, made by Marx, totally borked. Must have cost my grandparents a bit when it was new! Anyone know anything about these?

I shall get that Galaxie in due course, just received the Opel Rekord Coupe which is quite nice. I did buy an original Galaxie back in the 70s, I remember that the guy had the Galaxie (in the other colour) for £3.50 and the '67 Thunderbird for £3.90. Sadly I couldn't afford both but preferred the Galaxie so it now lives in one of my display cabinets, one careful owner etc. I do claim bonus points though for owning a RHD '66 Galaxie sedan some years later, went quite well with the 390 V8 wafting it along.

Oh, man, those Matchbox boxes trigger off a soft, cosy, warm feeling of nostalgia every time I see them. I particularly remember carefully* unboxing that 928.

Google Louis Marx.....

They had a factory in Wales but I think I remember reading that only the plastic stuff was made there - I have a Zephyr 6 Motorway Police car which was based on the Corgi Toy.   Playcraft (Corgi parent company) was on the same industrial estate as the Marx factory.   I also had a Lockheed Electra tinplate aeroplane which must have been around the same era as your tractor.    I also have a Pontiac-looking Highway Patrol car which is plastic with tinplate friction chassis and that says  Made in Gt. Britain as well.

Really prolific company but not much seems to have been catalogued....

Found this tiny little Lone Star Tuf-Tots Corvette today. £1.50 seems a fair price, as they're about £5 posted on eBay.

Just bagged this. Very early whizzwheels with metal base, painted figures and chrome rocket launcher. Much better than the later offering which just had red plastic - corgi started dying a slow death in the late 70's.
