This is why I have spares cars. One is the yellow base I bought today, two others came apart for the best body/interior/glass/hood

Its been debuted on here before, but finally mine arrived. I've been playing the waiting game on ebay for a while, and finally got a 10% discount offer on one of the sets I've had on watch, along with the good old klarna 3 months interest free.

After all the Professionals related stuff I've gathered over the last few years, it's nice that Corgi have done the star cars from another favourite show from my growing-up years.

I've been meaning to grab one of the fairly recent Vanguards Series 2 Jag/Daimler releases, but this is my first one. It' s a brilliant casting, and looks the part as Arfur's XJ6, despite Corgi using a bit of artistic licence, with the Minder Jag being a SWB and the Vanguards casting being a LWB. Doesnt notice enough to really matter though.

The Jag steel wheels and hub caps look great on this,

IMG_20250723_235041.jpg.99d6d91d12c946534f27f1b15fa18f34.jpg

And a nice simulated slab of wood on the dash,

IMG_20250723_233710.jpg.76190249d14e3d09f590debc2e51174e.jpg

But the real star for me is the Capri. Along with Regan's Consul GT and Doyle's RS2000, one of my favourite ever TV cars.

Screenshot_20250727_005625_com_google_android_youtube_MainActivity_edit_6155112348067.jpg.4fdf69c1320a3e93000e4d5bf2397474.jpg

IMG_20250723_233946.jpg.cddc58de6d24029f5904adeebcb2cadb.jpg

Since the Vanguards Mk2 came out last year, I've always hoped they'd do a non X-pack Mk2 S and they couldn't have picked a better one in my eyes. The tooling has been slightly modified to give it the deeper front valance of the S.

IMG_20250723_234150.jpg.4a3e2f8ce72b4412b572419faa828b6b.jpg

The stripes and decals are great, and it's good to see they've used the Professionalmania wheels on this one.

IMG_20250723_233741.jpg.ec827ce87c8fc53bd9907e62ac829948.jpg

Seats have the correct Cadiz stripes, and thankfully Corgi haven't run the stripes right up the headrests like on the Capri in the Professionals Screen Stars pack.

Only bit to pick at really is the lack of sunroof detail. But overall, a nice rendition of Tel's Capri, the 'original' SLE 71R and one of many, many Capris that were actually used...

Screenshot_20250727_010006_com_google_android_youtube_MainActivity_edit_6171027464259.jpg.f897f7d9d3118c7a58afd6230f87f44e.jpg

The original SLE featured in the opening credits and series 1 episode 5 (but the first episode recorded) 'The bounty hunter'

minder1026gu7_5511.jpg.023012489e8367c25cfe6befd2f1287c.jpg

For episode 2 'Bury my half at Waltham Green', Tel is  driving JRX 782P, a 2.0 GT.

For episode 11, 'You gotta have friends', it's now a GL, RLW 17R,

Screenshot_20250726_213106_com_google_android_youtube_MainActivity.jpg.c053d98e2304b28de848c2dc1bda1ada.jpg

Which, during the car chase scene, becomes SLE 71R Version 2,

Screenshot_20250726_213224_com_google_android_youtube_MainActivity_edit_6035058333999.jpg.3349d35b4c4d2a0af6c997b4aa7fa710.jpg

Poor Mk1 Granny...

Then things went a bit awry in series 2, as  SLE 71R Version 3 is a pre-facelift Mk1 GT for the duration of the series,

Screenshot_20250726_220019_com_google_android_youtube_MainActivity_edit_6128400782453.jpg.ea38274ce4448630e9ab422f87b04e43.jpg

Although I've always thought that as a slightly down-on-his-luck ex boxer and ex jailbird, this is the car that suited Terry the most.

For series 3 episode 'You need hands', it's another early Mk2, possibly a GT or XL. This is SLE 71R Version 4 as this car also has those plates, and is seen leaving Des's garage in a worse state than it went in,

Screenshot_20250726_200026_com_google_android_youtube_MainActivity_edit_5911913656285.jpg.76cf6011bd237bd251df6017b1a6df6b.jpg

It's only seen for that episode as it breaks down later on. For the rest of series 3, Tel is seen in a gold Mk3 GL, MJN 701V, by the look of the JN reg and big GB sticker, the only Ford press fleet Capri to appear in the series,

CAPRI3-MJN701V-Capri_MkII.jpg.7887510b09ac20c9d65eb11ae136b2c0.jpg

Screenshot_20250726_214633_com_google_android_youtube_MainActivity_edit_6113025470896.jpg.18fae664250ae2bd48ef4e7034ee3859.jpg

The longest serving Capri of all was the  Mk3 EUC 223V, which appeeared from series 4 to 6,

Screenshot_20250726_212024_com_google_android_youtube_MainActivity_edit_5959515886788.jpg.a259f498929fa5a52b21fe60aaf5f75f.jpg

Not sure what model Capri this was as it had the sports steel 'dartboard' wheels, but seem to have wider rims than standard. Also there appears to be a red coachline above the rubbing strip, and there is a rear spoiler and what appears in one episode to be red 'strobe' style stripes on the seats like the later S models. Whether it was a limited edition or a period modified job I dont know.

CAPRI3-GIVEANDTAKE.jpg.2bb351a485066e63739fdc1e56ec9319.jpg

An oddball one was this very early Mk2 (note the slotted wheels and hubcaps) that appeared in one episode of series 6 and, according to one of the actors, was hired for the day and was apparently "absolutely knackered, not the kind of Capri Terry would drive..."

i001463935.jpg.3e3f1aacc53488fa95031376c618ec59.jpg

In series 7, the last to feature Dennis Waterman, he is seen giving his mate Justin a driving lesson, while being followed by DI Rycott and DS Mellish. The Capri this time round is LTF 980P and looks a bit rough compared to Tel's other Capris. Probably because of this,

vlcsnap-2020-12-30-07h12m46s881.jpg.abf9618c443ef5f5c4e2b239cd05b790.jpg

Mellish gets distracted by an attractive woman pedestrian and punts their Mk2 Cavalier into the back of the Capri...

CAPRI6-UNKNOWN-Capri_MkIII01.jpg.52fd00ec1f819ffc7c0908e97d416fee.jpg

The final appearance by one of Tel's Capris is in the first episode of series 8 when Arthur goes round to his flat and finds Tel has moved out and left his keys behind. Appropriately all we see is a glimpse of a white Capri...

But, despite only appearing in one (or possibly two) episodes, it's the OG SLE 71R that everyone remembers, more than the other Capris, almost certainly due to that iconic few seconds' apeearance in the opening credits every week for seven series. And its nice to finally have a good replica of it.

Should you consider ever passing this on may I please have first refusal? My father owned a 131 wagon in the 70s (SLC 316R) and the nostalgia is running high with this!

I visited an antique/collectable shop in North Wales that I have bought from previously. There was quite a lot to choose from - I was unsure if I was going to buy anything initially however my youngest who was with me decided to do a world ending fart inside the shop. I felt I had no choice but to recompense the proprietor.

🤣 about the fart! My sister did that in a little glass/ceramics shop in Cyprus when we were kids. I swear to god it made the glass vases on the shelves tremble! It was absolutely immense and everyone inside the shop went silent! My mum was really embarrassed and had to shoo my sister out of the shop. Hilarious!

Nice haul there, they look in great condition too. There’s another of those Jag’s in a red-ish colour too.

I will have to get his name down for a Swiss finishing school.

Before I catalogue today's haul, I got the Graffic Traffic Model A van done - this one seems extra white for some reason, I think the clear glazing is part of it maybe

Well I picked up the BMW. I was stood at the locker entering the code I received via text and it just wasn’t working so I popped into the shop for assistance and it was actually in the shop. I’ve never used this service before.

The shopkeeper was quite amused by the packaging!

I've been finishing off some stuff that was clogging my workbench.  Let's begin with a couple of Corgi 1/36s...

100_2519.JPG.22298691b8e73320d48bc2e87817beac.JPG

Senator had no back axle when it arrived.  Fortunately I have a stock of parts.  Now how about some 1/43-ish?

100_2520.JPG.bd73f08af4105b72293c755b495f20b5.JPG

Sunbeam Rapier came from @danthecapriman in what was left of a peculiar (factory) orange and cream combination.  So I went for red over grey, which I think suits it much better.  Jag was the Fire Chief version, with a very bent chassis and no front axle.

100_2033.JPG.3382abca72940a267fa7c39d6051f2da.JPG

Doesn't look like scrap now!  Mini was a pretty random colour choice which I think has come out quite nice.  But the MGB GT....

100_2528.JPG.fd4b2f3ca404ba49baced6a1d27378fa.JPG

...is meant to be the "Competition model" that was shown in the catalogue in about 1967/8, but which AFAIK never appeared in the shops, despite making it as far as the box art.  OK, I've got one now!  I've used Ford Olympic Blue, which is probably a bit lighter than Corgi intended, but that's fine, I like the result.  It only ever has to please me anyway.

Now... regular readers will remember I made a hearse from a Corgi Cadillac ambulance...

100_1672.JPG.820bb6439a75fabcb05bfa005ee12926.JPG

I cut the other one down...

100_1675.JPG.11686e722fdc48026f2b7bca346c6d85.JPG

So here's the hearse...

100_1833.JPG.ccb3110515ed898484241b1e39d87fb4.JPG

Now let's look at progress on the other one, shall we?

100_2052.JPG.52ffd27b22247cbbf360d9f2144121c9.JPG

Oh look!  Magically, we now have two cut down!  I let myself get sidetracked slightly, partly by the arrival of a third broken ambulance.

100_2202.JPG.09961309a87b5d6bb52516a0c2be869c.JPG

The black one is going to go with the hearse; your American funeral director has a hearse, possibly a couple; at least a couple of limos, and a flower car, known to the trade as a Coupe des Fleurs, because their hearses don't have the glass area that ours have, so any flowers the family wants to send with Uncle Charlie go on the exposed deck of the Coupe.  I've made this deck from the panel on top of a Dinky Transit Accident Unit, which is a lovely fit.  But how do I make the back of the cab?  There's a gap, where the ambulance's raised roof was.

100_2521.JPG.be43e774809b09ae345e84a98dc7da27.JPG

After a couple of false starts with bits I cut from other scrap bodies, I found just the thing!  @FakeConcern sent me a pretty mangled Corgi Ford Classic some time ago - might even have been the first box he sent me! - and I've been wondering what use I could make of it.  The back of the roof is almost perfect for this job.  I need to do some filling, sanding and painting, but at least now I can see the overall shape.

Nothing gets wasted!

It has a motor inside yes? There would have been a remote control lead coming out of it

It was certainly a remote controlled car in a previous life. It needs some work but I might just wire it up so that the front and back lights illuminate?

So here's the hearse...

Now let's look at progress on the other one, shall we?

Oh look!  Magically, we now have two cut down!  I let myself get sidetracked slightly, partly by the arrival of a third broken ambulance.

Fantastic work on those Eddy!👍

That flower car looks exactly right for how they looked. Good idea on the bit for behind the cab too.

MGB looks the absolute biz too. I wonder why they never released it?
Rapier is sooo much nicer than the hideous colours it came in. It’s a nice looking casting so what they were thinking of releasing it in orange god only knows. Yours are way nicer.

It was certainly a remote controlled car in a previous life. It needs some work but I might just wire it up so that the front and back lights illuminate?

What do people think the lettering is, BTF?

I want to try and do a Google search on it.

I picked up a few nice bits of shite at Brighton Marina today. Most were pretty cheap, the dearest being the Caprice and Zephyr at £4 each, but they are both very nice indeed!

I'm going to to see if the maroon colour will come off the Zephyr roof.
