Charity shop job lot for £3.50.

Found a loose Buford T. Justice ERTL Pontiac for 50p.

I've heard @bunglebus is after another Magnet Southerns Playart Mazda B1600. They had another in a Ferrero Rocher box for £4.50 alone.

They also had these and more at £6.50 each. I don't know how much they are normally but they stayed in the shop. Quite cool though especially the rally Astray.

Ok, I know you lot like a challenge. I'm gathering intel on this one which I relieved from ebay recently:

LPIC5728.JPG.0611d198e4a7a31f703232f4fb72227c.JPG

Look closely.

All I've got is that it's the K145 Iveco cab coz the single rear axle. K145 came out (88) 2 years after the K126 DAF helicopter transporter was released (86).

Below is what the mainstream K126 release looks like.

k1263.jpeg.3fe84e1bdea1b660948fbd8cef1975b0.jpeg

I have hit a dead end with trying to find out why this cab swap exists. There are a few scenarios:

  • It is a prototype for release. But, K126 was already 2 years into the run.
  • A colour trial for if they were deciding to end the DAF cab run, due to costs or whatever.
  • They just run out of DAF cabs during production for a bit because Steve forgot to order door mirrors.

The second scenario seems favorite for me as there is a bit of blue paint in the trucks colour, which is showing on the helicotors rotor. This could be where it's been tarted up for photo opportunities?

LPIC5715.JPG.d336988bb63317451f7aed761bffc83a.JPG

Underside shows no foul play with the fixings.

LPIC5727.JPG.732c1d8d4d2a7a0c42d41854a5766acf.JPG

At the moment, it's the only one in existance. I'm keen to get some opinions on it and if the Iveco shows in any catalogues from 86 onwards.

EDIT: '86 catalogue shows a rather primative DAF cab.

Very interesting. I've only ever seen a tri axle Iveco artic in a Porsche and Ferrari set which also had twin wheels on the 2 rear axles, I've never seen one with just one rear axle though.

I'm sure someone will be along to clarify but it looks like a prototype to me . It could just be age but the orange parts of the helicopter look to be a slightly different shade as well.

You may be onto something there as I've yet to see an uncoupled K145 tipper. Was that a fixed unit? If it is then my Iveco , is the only version of it, the others being twin rear axle. That could be the key to at least establishing what this is! EDIT: K145 tipper does uncouple. So at least I know that my one can only be a K145 cab, painted in RN livery with white hubs by MB. I can rule out preproduction as K126 was already going.

K145tipper.PNG.7fcf97a6920e1c62a93ae08cd3af7f23.PNG

Other things to note about the chopper is that the engine fixing has not been done properly on one side, it's not been in the casting hole when it was riveted and the 'Rescue' tampo is mis aligned. Never gave that a thought really. I guess now I need to get a general release to compare things to?!

It's Play Art, the same as the pickup. I wonder if the Mazda was a general freebie for customers, but you had to be a big spender to get the lorry

I remember I had a Majorette Toyota Celica with black opaque windows, however it did have opening doors, interior and awesome pop up headlights!

I remember buying mine from Poundland circa 2005 and wondering the same thing. Maybe using up castings originally designed for their lights and sounds series?

Still a way to go yet, but it’s getting there. And it doesn’t flex at all with the cars on! Front end sits quite high at the moment as the coupling to the tractor isn’t fitted, it’s just balancing on a lump of plastic.

Got this stripped down the other day, not terrible for a Chinese casting ( but still not a patch on the earlier ones)

PXL_20250715_165454129.jpg.c8c74c6d0fdf058ce5c7d2d3afe22de5.jpg

Interestingly the stickers were put on it before the marker pen was applied, as you can see from the roof. I don't hold out much hope on getting that white again so I may have to paint it, but this one's definitely a better resto prospect than the last one I had, which had a scuffed up hood scoop from a roll during a drag race

It's in oven cleaner, the pink disappeared instantly and it looks like the green may shift too, fingers crossed. Maybe it was done with felt tips rather than permanent marker with a bit of luck
