Some of you may remember a I bought a 1/24 Jaguar XJ6 off @Datsuncog a couple of years back. It had a rear missing bumper.

I'd looked for one on eBay for a while but absolutely nothing came up. There was someone who'd broken one up for parts in Italy but even they had no bumpers.

A few days ago, I happened upon a cheap Polistil Jaguar XJ6 complete with box and rear bumper. However, it's front bumper was in pieces and it's general condition wasn't anything to shout about.

I decided to hit the B.I.N button despite being utterly low of ££s.

It arrived today and I decided to get to work:

It's a NewRay. It's on the label on the box base to the right.

And absolutely nothing on the base. I can't work out if it was made 50 years or 5 minutes ago

That does have the look of something made yesterday, however I did find some "older" ones on the interwebs.

Few arrivals at Casa DC recently also...

IMG_20250704_1830042.jpg.ba51b87f21414595f2af29b7bb4f45ed.jpg

A magnificent assortment of Corgis from across the eras, courtesy of our own @garycox and his ScaleMail Retro Diecast on eBay.

The Ferrari 308GTS is one I've been after for a while - I'm not usually much of a Ferrari licker, but this is a lovely model with lots of detail.

I'm a sucker for Corgi Classics commercials, even though they're a little smaller than I'd like, at 1/50 scale.

I'll profile these properly once I've got some pics taken.

Some nice HW Premiums at a fair price arrived from the ever-lovely Ana Silva and her Facebook page:

IMG_20250707_1253122.jpg.9888fd01c10c1bf0bcdcf5e56ddfaa29.jpg

The Ford twin pack was offered out at less than I'd have paid off the shelf at Smyths, so I'm happy enough with that.

I had a Factory Fresh mainline release DeLorean that I never opened, and then sold on a few years back - this Boulevard edition is much more detailed, and the lacquered zamac finish is one occasion where it's actually appropriate. It didn't cost much more than the going rate for another carded mainline version, so again - happy bunny.

Also some recent Matchbox from the same source:

IMG_20250707_1253262.jpg.8059490aee3f81309ea10f02843ff97f.jpg

The Morgan Plus Four is one I saw in both Tesco and Poundland at different times, prevaricated over, then didn't buy - and now they all seem to be gone locally.

Any supply of Moving Parts round here is now non-existent, so even though there are others in the range I'd be more keen to get, the odd little Alpha Wolf pickup is still welcome.

IMG_20250707_1249592.jpg.ce95bb54707ecfb5a30ddc3a0f0c1125.jpg

And lastly another Matchbox Action Drivers set, which I dithered about getting for far too long (like, well over a year) until they were all showing as NLA from Amazon and eBay - so I ended up having to source this one from a USA seller in a now-or-never type situation:

IMG_20250705_1237302.jpg.ef49f1ad75be6577dc9ad3b532d5f5e5.jpg

I know, I shouldn't be such a child but there's just something about these little sets and their recreation of everyday situations that appeals greatly.

Mattel seem to have really slowed down on releasing them since 2024 though, so I don't know what the future holds for the range. There's only been one 2025 release so far (another airport).

I just wish they weren't so damn big! Storage for these is an annoyance.

I've opened all these since, so expect more pics...

Not sure if they're ever going to hit the streets or remain a pie-in-the-sky project, but I quite like the Alpha Ace:

I’ve mostly been messing around with making moulds and trying different casting materials and methods recently but I’ve been doing some models too.

Another one of the nice little Leyland FG’s got chopped in half and stretched. Then a scratch built flatbed made for it. Pretty simple truck really this one.

IMG_7532.jpeg.b8c3d8167d18ea2442d6d66b84b07adf.jpeg

Also started looking at doing a box truck. I saw a photo of one the other day which struck me as a cool thing to make (in a boring mundane way!) so decided that would be what I do. It’s actually a fridge truck. I did look at modifying two box truck bodies I’ve got spare but to get it to look how the real ones were would probably take just as much effort as scratch building one so I’ve scratch built.
It’s a long way off yet, but the basic box is done, doors/hinges/lock done and the strips on the sides started. I’ve got some decals coming for this and need to measure them up before I finish the side strips.
Chassis came from a French partwork truck that I just chopped the wheel arches off to clear the new cab. The new cab will need a bit of alteration but I’ve done one before so shouldn’t be hard.

IMG_7533.jpeg.0070756dc45ba1777774b285506e8506.jpeg

This is what it’ll become, (told you it was boring and mundane!😆)
I actually looked up the number plate for that one and it had a spectacularly short life of six years. Tesco must’ve rode em’ hard.

TESCO Ford Fridge

This one left the workbench too.
Greenlight 1:43 Dodge B250. This version started as a custom van in a hideous colour scheme so I’ve done it a nice metallic blue instead (modern Vauxhall colour). It looks lovely in the sun.

IMG_7534.jpeg.70a28fc8478c93fde953bfd2da891a13.jpeg

And a delivery yesterday!
A 1:43 I’d seen before and dithered over. It usually comes as a set with a race car transporter trailer but I’m not really bothered about racing cars and, if I’m honest, the truck itself is really pushing my upper age limit for being too new for my interests but I’m glad I got it as it’s bloody lovely. I spotted it on eBay as a separate cab then got a seller offer so took it.

Volvo FH12.

IMG_7537.jpeg.dc70fa09841a88a8a1b956ccbc2cf902.jpeg

No idea what I’ll do with it, but it’s a nice model. Too nice not to have!
I do have some trailers it’d go with so I might give them a try. Ones a tri axle curtain sider which I think will look the part. At the very least I’ll remove the race team branding from it too. Not sure if it’ll get the full repaint this time.

Hmmm. Not sure tbh. I'd rarely ever go down the route of making a track/race car. I'm happy to wait until some bumpers come along.

What I'm learning about the 1/24 scale Polistil XJ6s are that there are variations. They came in various colours such as silver, dark blue, dark red, a rare white one and I believe there was a champagne coloured one that I've seen too.

There is also a Police version which comes with a plate that was on a real Jaguar XJ6 Police car.

PolistilJagPolice.webp.7e6d7d5c8e34f5bbc23440d78a4cc0f2.webp

11427.jpg.9df9b7e413e483fe76789aec40f66b40.jpg

However, the strange thing is this. Many of the 1/24 XJ6s sold here came with a square 'American' number plate insert where a square 'British' number plate was placed into NTT 642P. However, on some American models, they have the proper rectangular plate insert whuch has a hole in the middle. So I wonder what all that was about:

(These are not the 2 Jags I have despite similarity)

Looks like a nice bit of kit, Polistil did some excellent, if fragile, work

Think mine is a smaller scale but still well detailed

No, that one is the same scale as mine.

Mine would have originally come with "NTT 642P" numberplate but I obtained a "SNV 696M" to make it into a tribute to Arthur Daley's Jag.

The chap I bought the Fiat 500 from was showing one of his mates a project he'd been working on

IMG_2156.JPG.f25af6f8fce8df73a9958aa036d7ed71.JPG

3D printed VDP Princess, he'd bought the bare prints and smoothed etc. the shell, made the glazing and finished off the two tone one before noticing the shape of the rear wings was wrong and doing the white one, which is really good

This is really interesting. I'm sure they're out there, but that's the first  time I've seen a fully 3D-printed 1:43 car and the effect is pretty good. I have seen a few efforts from the earlier days of 3D printers, either making large-scale models or really small ones, and in both cases the finish leaves a lot to be desired. I really hope that as 3D printers become more and more accessible we'll see a lot more of this sort of stuff. I can't even fathom how you would go about designing something like this, but there are obviously clever people out there who can. I'd absolutely love somebody to make, for example, a Bond Equipe model shell which could be built-up using parts from a Vanguards Triumph Herald. After that my mind starts racing at all the obscurities that will never be modelled by any commercial enterprise... Ogle 1.5? Palladium?? I wonder if there's someone out there taking requests...?

I had the police XJ6 and bumpers and other parts got broken a few times. I eventually swapped it for a Stahlberg Saab 900 but I'd have another if I found it. I think the square plate recess would be for an Italian registration as the digit layout and the sheer number of them often fitted better on a square plate.

TW Collection did a Bond Equipe. These kits are now hard to find and sellers want big bucks for them when they do show up.

Here's a list of the TW Collection of white metal kits.

Those TW kits are some of the worst shit I've ever seen, to be honest (There are a few exceptions, some of them look alright). I have looked before but have never seen a completed Equipe, suggesting nobody has ever bothered, but even in unbuilt form it's clear it only has a very slight passing resemblance to the real thing. In the dark, from 20ft away, etc etc. Just real crap. It's a shame, because the subject matter is really interesting, and just the sort of thing that 3D printing could excell at.

I do actually enjoy playing 'what's that meant to be, then?' with these. I bet nobody can tell without looking this one up...

That D-series reminds me of this one I recently made in a much smaller scale. It started out as an EFE Bedford TK but I added the corrugated sides to the body and substituted a resin Ford cab. I particularly like the wheels, 3D printed by Three Peaks Models and intended for Duple Dominant coaches.

It does look similar with that old fashioned style corrugated style box body. Although showman’s stuff usually was a mix n match of all sorts of older stuff so they probably did end up with ex supermarket trucks, or at least the body’s.

That is a very cool looking truck with those stainless style wheel trims!
