I've never heard of the Eligor BMW which is plastic.

A lot of the Eligor models from the 1980s are old Norev castings that have been modified. The original Norev had opening doors.

For some reason I assumed there were about 20 or 30 different exterior colour issues on the Juniors Escorts and Sierras. I don't know why I thought that though. I can now also see there were only about 3 issued in actual factory paint shades. I'm fairly sure there were a few more like that in the larger scale, especially early promotional items.

Anyway, I love Matchbox but I think I'm a Corgi man at the end of the day, as far as that era is concerned 😅

Those all look like early Rockets models to me. They are the OHMSS RX7 that came with yellow skis attached through the holes in the rear window. The white is an undercoat probably because red would need many coats to stop the raised details showing through the colour.

I remember a model shop which I think might even still be there but all my Blackpool diecasts throughout the 80s were from Woolworths and souvenir shops on the promenade.

It’s still there but it’s a museum. Back in the day it had the full range plus they used to sell seconds.

Thanks for that it was really interesting, when I saw the Eligor BMW I did at first think it was a Norev. Now i know why! I'll now be on the lookout for both Norev and Eligor versions of cars as well as both plastic and metal Norevs!

I believe it is though actually finding one when they get here will be a nightmare! I see they are also bringing out a basic mainline Lotus Cortina too which will be equally as problematic in finding.

They’ll both be castings that very very rarely reach the shop shelves. Shortly after release they’ll all start appearing on eBay at vastly inflated prices. Unfortunately.

Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag does look superb though, as does that mk1 Cortina.

Whenever I see the volvo and dyane I always think of the mercedes car transporter corgi sold in the 70's - the amc pacer and x/19 usually came in the set as well.

Personally I think the majorette 245 knocks the corgi one into a cocked hat.

The old Majorette 245 was a great looking effort. Corgi’s version always looked a bit odd somehow, either too wide or the roof line too low and squat looking.
Majorette’s new 240 estate looks a cracker too from what I’ve seen of it on here. I haven’t seen one in the metal yet.

Had to brave a couple of the retail parks today. For once I caught Smyths at a good time. Loads of Premiums, some new some old, and a fresh stock of Team Transports. I'm trying to resist at the moment but I know I'm eventually going to cave in and get that set with the Audi A4 touring car.

For the first time in I don't know how long, the pegs had some recent mainlines on, and not just fantasy shite as usual. In addition, there was an opened G case just sitting there, and again, exercising some restraint, I grabbed a few that I've been chasing. Only disappointment was not finding the BMW 6 series, but I think that's in the case after this one. But I still came away happy.

IMG_20250421_142022.jpg.2b53f6d171fd2fc778e8e5fba5a5878b.jpg

I was especially happy to get this one. I love the shape of it, and it's a casting that doesn't seem to have been covered much.

IMG_20250421_142243.jpg.57976357789a5ab9e50e4a21062e6d58.jpg

The only other Cyclone I've managed to pick up was a "HW Flames" version with lime green paint, flames, big blingy wheels and the usual for the time, chrome interior.

IMG_20250421_142049.jpg.da9b4de094290297be35e4008845df60.jpg

This one is much more subtle. The colour is lovely and it comes with sensible sized wheels, black interior, and factory style graphics and badging.

IMG_20250421_142146.jpg.47e44c0d918d2336d7c16cae69d872ae.jpg

And from here on in, it all gets a bit German,

IMG_20250421_141509.jpg.f6464b6f724470aa648f7856a04d668d.jpg

Another one I ws hoping to find. Again, I love the colour scheme, even though those nice M-style side graphics mean there is no front or rear detail whatsoever.

IMG_20250421_183237.jpg.fa5e876fc4818ca78fb3f97b40154f35.jpg

IMG_20250421_141705.jpg.b5366ee84078fff609a8f04f32a75a99.jpg

Didn't notice until I zoomed in that the wheels are those nice four-spokes that were introduced recently. From here they almost look like Real Riders.

IMG_20250421_141724.jpg.52b09ba8221cca87093e099f010fc2d6.jpg

Yet another RS2, I can't leave these alone.

IMG_20250421_141854.jpg.ec99c8e75e3f1645397e32b6df2023fd.jpg

Looking very sharp in white though.

IMG_20250421_141833.jpg.f3728e0cd15fbef04c6c5cf67ac442bf.jpg

Today's winner for me though, was this, another fast Teutonic white wagon,

IMG_20250421_142327.jpg.42d1c2556ded5106901fe06b6c4bc941.jpg

Part of a Boulevard series that's from a while ago now, but I never thought I'd find one in a shop. I've had a few in my cart on AliExpress, but as they're all around the £16 mark even on there, there would be no way I'd be paying that, as much as I wanted one.

IMG_20250421_142740.jpg.05cf63f14e1299ca56ce3016253269e9.jpg

Being a serial '80s &90s Merc-botherer, I've already nabbed quite a few of the Hot Wheels W124 500E variants, but never an S124. AFAIK, this casting has only ever been available as a premium..

I have to admit, I'm not 100% sold on the massive flared arches, I think it would have looked nicer as standard, but the AMG front bumper is modelled nicely.

IMG_20250421_142415.jpg.cdb47947c5ec363f2ff4efa2bd21a8a7.jpg

Nice period details too, like the colour coded headlight wipers, grille shell and horizontal strips.

IMG_20250421_142724.jpg.5fbf825d8a6eb526e099602478d7411b.jpg

Best bit though was when I got to the till, and it transpired that with this being part of an older Boulevard series, it was reduced to £6.99. So all of today's purchases, including a premium, came to a few quid less less than what the online sellers are asking for the Merc alone. Wish I'd known as they had the gold E46 M3 from that series as well, I'd have grabbed that too if I'd known they were reduced...

MANYgor Jags.

Yesterday whilst at Nana_Sterling's house, she explained to me that she'd bought me a model car for ky birthday and was expecting it to be bigger than the 1/76 scale she received. Apparently she sent it back not being happy with it, thinking it would be an insult being so small. But then it was sent back to her as the post office couldn't find the address it was being went back to!

I'm glad it came back and that she presented it to me as I'm well happy with it. It's a 1/76 scale of Inspector Morse's Jag (248RPA)

Absolutely. A bit thinner on the ground though. This was an old Who Did it Worse? Can't remember who made the saloon

Playart I think.

Majorette is a fine representation but for nostalgia it's the Corgi for me. I've got a weird variation where the suspension has been filled in and it doesn't say Corgi on the base. I bought it loose in a local newsagent around 1989 when they had a batch of unboxed new Juniors for 45p each at a time when the usual price was 99p. Looked like leftover castings from the 1970s/early 80s as I got a Mercedes 240D aswell.
