Today, motherly_Sterling ordered me to stay at home because: OMG SNO KAOS, which is just as well as I spent most of the day sleeping.

I (eventually) woke up to watch YouTube and instantly fell bored. Thankfully, I've stuff to do here anyway so took the opportunity to organise some of my 1/64 cars.

20241119_201644.jpg.47efc8369952ab487482fa86ad4b6d81.jpg

All these are just half of what I have 1/64-wise.

I remembered that I did some wheel swaps many years ago and I mustard mitt, I'm still chuffed with the results. Here is a sample;

1/64 SIKU Mercedes S500, originally would have looked like this:

il_fullxfull.2289267609_7bqg.jpg.5b8e5a4e09521004c83db9c484ea8492.jpg

I got a bit creative with what I had and got it looking like this:

20241119_201932.jpg.ac5ea780c538fa947528933f7fdb2b12.jpg

20241119_201942.jpg.05755654d0442919dc55a61598031a0f.jpg

You can see in the background the BMW 325i which sports the same wheels.

And then these 3:

20241119_202529.jpg.9ea5cfd2aff499df1f8c5027cd4b454f.jpg

20241119_202554.jpg.ba53c4b945b722888290f36e6960ab0e.jpg

The Landcruiser is some unnamed Chinese thing which would have originally looked liked this:

s-l1200(14).webp.80e408825f5ccc4eb00dad4442bd6d39.webp

I thought that the body of the car was nicely proportioned but let down completely by the wheels. I grabbed the wheels wheels cheap and poorly-proportioned Welly Mercedes ML.

The Mercedes CLK would have originally looked like this:

s-l1200(6).jpg.d6fb605639a4666ab007bdd19930324e.jpg

Which isn't bad, but for a sports Coupe, I felt soke multi-spokes would look better. I grabbed the wheels off a model cheap Chinese Clio V6 model.

20241119_205921.jpg.24bc0d729f5f3aa7fbfee460c23d2363.jpg

The black KA was already modded when I got it. I can't remember if I bought it off here or off eBay. The Silver KA wears the wheels the Black KA came with. But both would have originally started life looking like this:

Majorette_Ford_Ka_(silver_dark_grey_bumpers_NUC2_wheels).jpg.38ce355ad827f8b0eab828220d89aaec.jpg

i3451355624.jpg.4d7d4c23006d7beefc015072c48bf2d2.jpg

Also, one for @brammy777. I think these are all of the Norevs I have (discounting the SIKU truck). I may have more but I doubt it.

20241119_203240.jpg.9ddc1b507ae46104f14f4ad7508e16d7.jpg

Nice collection especially the Citroens!

I collect Citroen C4 Coupe/VTS models and have  few Norev and Majorettes included

A few of these came from members on this forum and if anyone has any C4 Coupe model they don't want or see any at a reasonable price then I am interested.

Had to stop by the shops tonight. B&M still had quite a few of these premiums, so grabbed this Audi.

IMG_20241110_224252.jpg.c92358373e554982e0f94b5ebc48e717.jpg

I was tempted by the Alfa GTV and Supra again, but I already have a few of those in mainline form, and to my knowledge, this S4 casting has never been released as one. I'm trying (not always sucessfully) at the moment to just go for castings I've either not got, or don't have many of.

IMG_20241110_224501.jpg.2ce9ddae284af7ca7fb4b4c73ad1afe3.jpg

Its a nice version, I've only got one other S4, the yellow one in the Deutschland Design set, and this one is more subtle.

IMG_20241110_224436.jpg.7fda83a0e598e8b351191031e0fe2aab.jpg

And at Asda, I was chuffed to finally find a Majorette Golf,

IMG_20241110_225013.jpg.ff05b73fea96f260b2c16f41e7d75620.jpg

IMG_20241110_225033.jpg.25194e11230a23b87b18c79e060f10d6.jpg

And in the colour scheme I wanted it in!

IMG_20241110_225058.jpg.53673b59beea4f6c4fbd20bc98b3aad7.jpg

Pretty good spec on these premiums, with opening parts, suspension and rubber tyres, at a few quid less than a Hot Wheels premium. Just wish they did a few more classic castings.

I've got that Audi, it looks fab. I've not had the guts to open it yet though for fear of wrecking the packaging.

Just to add to the plates collection, this Lesney Mk1 Ford Cortina with reg: PHD 276F

The story of this is Mother_Sterling's neighbour had this in his shed. I spotted it sat on a shelf and asked about it. He didn't seem to know much about it and gave it to me, so now its snuggly and warm.

It fits perfectly in the 'Lesney' garage:

I believe that's the hard to find version, regular wheels but with the raised line for the boot shut - a casting change that happened just before the Superfast version was released.

I won a really nice one of these on eBay, then the seller got abducted by aliens

1 out of my 3 favourite Lesneys of that era, the other 2 being thr MK4 Zodiac and the VW fastback.

Cheers. It's nice to know I have something else actually very rare apart from the 1/25 Rover Sterling.

Similarly I also have a the Jaguar Mk10:

Sadly it doesn't fit quite so snugly in the garage, although if you park it front-in and remove the towbar, it will fit. I'll not be doing that.

I bought the Mk10 after seeing a discussion on here about them. Apparently some American had bought one from the UK for £2k (?) Because it didn't have the line "Matchbox" above the underside description of the car.

I wouldn't mind adding to my collection of Lesney cars of this era.

Got home to find this waiting for me,

IMG_20241120_001214.jpg.a4d7aa4375bc9b30254505057faa5d04.jpg

Got this in the Corgi site's Black Friday sale, worked out about 58% off the RRP. Another one for the GM/Vauxhall/hot-hatch collection.

IMG_20241120_000510.jpg.3fd4b1c02cd60f51f912f398ddb1ac0a.jpg

Its a fairly recent release, from early this year, although the casting itself dates from 2012. Lately, Corgi have been dusting off a few castings that havent been covered for a while, sadly this release hasn't been a massive success (which probably explains its appearance in the Black Friday sale). Its a shame, as it really suits Carmine red.

IMG_20241120_000125.jpg.a3f2c2c0294aa79b660f507525a75245.jpg

It's a pretty good casting, the Mk2 Astra's shape is captured well.

IMG_20241120_000428.jpg.53fed2a7d3f65fb9fec5389d5edc6dbe.jpg

Its an older casting, but at the period it was launched, it was kind of a peak period for detailing. The front end looks great, particularly the lights, and grille. Love the headlight washers too... The 16V decal is almost lost in the red though.

IMG_20241120_000456.jpg.7f772dd6ab5a41eabbb52ba98347523f.jpg

Corgi had ruffled a few feathers at the time by bringing out a load of more modern '80s classics in the Vanguards range,  even European and Japanese models. These seemed to be made with spin offs like police and motorsport versions in mind, indeed the John Cleland  BTCC Astra was a big seller and is highly sought after today too. But at the time they were seen as "too new". To be fair, Corgi were probably just a bit ahead of their time as  '80s and '90s cars are a lot more popular now.

IMG_20241120_001020.jpg.2162a72e771f49dbb3301764ac89164f.jpg

One criticism though is as the range included a 1.3 Merit spec police car, the problem with the GTE version is the too-high rear suspension, especially as the real 16V was 25mm lower than the 8V. Sadly unlike the majority of Corgi-era Vanguards, most of the modern classics didn't get sprung suspension, so I can't slam this one! To be fair, they do look a bit better off the plinth and on their wheels.

IMG_20241120_000540.jpg.88bd9b51f13f010e7056b862f75014f2.jpg

An improvement on this one, compared to the earlier GTE releases is that the interior trim has been upgraded to the two tone trim (rainbow?) like on the real cars, on the seats and door cards. It does give the model a bit of a lift,

IMG_20241120_000905.jpg.0300360f2a1baab99639901377362955.jpg

IMG_20241120_000943.jpg.40d0a167964cb4edc36c54ff1c444f45.jpg

IMG_20241120_001103.jpg.75f98e609c7cb9a20fe22a29fd063ca3.jpg

Nice low number on the collector's card! Or maybe its how many they've actually sold 🤣Perhaps 1200 was a tad ambitious...

I have one of the Cortinas but it’s got auto steer fitted which seems uncommon.

Just the regular wheel versions in brown. That was a nice little feature, sadly only on a few models. VW 1500 and Mercury Commuter spring to mind, along with the Mustang only system with the lever on the side

Values of Lledo models of vintage cars are at an all time low at the moment, cash in now and send them to Autoshite Lledo for cash. Your priceless models of tacky unlikely associations like a Model T Ford Van advertising Shredded Wheat will be carefully collected by our courier service and compressed by our team in their vice. Over 310,000 Days Gone By have been smashed into pieces with hammers since 2016. Call today and we guarantee they will be tossed unceremoniously onto a concrete floor and reduced to their component parts in less than 24 hours’

’Mrs T Leeds… I had over 50 boxed examples of a Bullnose Morris depicting adverts for Smarties that my husband and I spent over 6 months trying to sell at car boot sales across the county after being left them in lieu of a 4 bed detached house in Kent that went to my sister. A few wee bits and bobs have appeared with me recently...

Poundstretcher continue to slash their prices on Mattel products, rather belatedly - Matchbox down to £1.11 (though the short cards still don't scan at the till);

IMG_20241114_1339532.jpg.4742be70e697da113a44e517f897bc6c.jpg

The Matchbox have almost all gone now; most of what's left on the pegs are just those unloved Cargo Truck things.

It's taken them the best part of a year to sell them through, though - from a retail aspect, that's pretty slow. Although I did find a Super Chase in amongst them, way back in January - the only one I've ever encountered in a shop.

Some pretty stale 2023 Hot Wheels mainlines are still available at £1.52:

IMG_20241114_1340402.jpg.e0003348f3b5b32116c8e52ee414e5bb.jpg

These are the ones that seem to arrive in small boxes containing only one type of model, rather than the usual large mix cases - believed to be ex-US retailer surplus.

And HW Car Culture premiums down to £5 a hit.

IMG_20241120_1514332.jpg.6ec5edaa95f4d12458eaa232ab859a84.jpg

I came away with some alright pieces from my local branch, with change from a tenner.

The Mitsubishi 3000GT is a belter; I worked with a fella in the early 2000s who had a sideline importing these over from Japan. Lovely big things, but uncommon now.

A few more Hot Wheels turned up in another Poundstretcher branch - mostly just colour variations of stuff I already have, but hey, they were pretty good value.

IMG_20241116_1001392.jpg.81f8b19789c96e182a37887d9ea94ddf.jpg

The Silverline Porsche 944 was reduced from £6 to £4, which was more palatable to my stingy ways.

For some reason Poundstretcher's few remaining Power Grab boxed Matchbox are still a bit dearer than the blister pack versions:

IMG_20241114_1340272.jpg.bf21a5d87fe10444312872e5d94d8776.jpg

A state of affairs which exists at The Entertainer too, peculiarly - £2.40 for blister pack, £3.00 for Power Grab.

Weird.

And speaking of The Entertainer...

IMG_20241113_1253322.jpg.1eb6d1fe09776c3f20c84e6e20fd115c.jpg

Saw these two and couldn't resist; I didn't have the Karmann Ghia, and while I do have an orange T2 from about 2008, it looks quite jolly in red.

Still no Moving Parts at all, though - nor any Working Rigs.

And a quick spin through the model shop in Smithfield revealed some intriguing Japanese release Moving Parts in boxes:

IMG_20240802_1347402.jpg.adc6d035bbacaa1a420edc66d2ffc067.jpg

I did make a purchase here, but haven't yet taken a pic of it.

Also nabbed this Dinky-branded Kidco Celica for a quid from the loose stuff:

IMG_20241116_1003342.jpg.e89cfa2f58b34dfc7def8e6d6f585880.jpg

IMG_20241116_1003402.jpg.87c60128c0782ed23cb8c58c2becb75f.jpg

IMG_20241116_1003472.jpg.cc2606adc93217cf645bcd4b78cb9793.jpg

Don't think I've posted these pics yet - some market acquisitions from Colin on the Irish Tat Stall:

IMG_20240913_1204402.jpg.49e154f7512a6687c2a2f94375089fba.jpg

These were both swaps for some surplus Mattel stuff - duplicates and so forth.

Escort originated with the Smithfield shop (going by the price written in marker pen on the box base), then went to The Nemesis, then swapped to Colin before passing to me. The metallic brown looks ace.

I haven't seen much to tempt me from Oxford in recent months, but this LWB Mk2 Transit was too good to miss.

IMG_20240927_1213412.jpg.9d0cfca1e44b4ebfd8e869f242026213.jpg

Very much a model, not a toy, but well-proportioned and with a high degree of charm.

IMG_20240927_1214362.jpg.829b3c1311c95ee0cac02d59c09c8ceb.jpg

IMG_20240927_1214422.jpg.1f2009cb84daa1fc6b72b1932101042b.jpg

A bit of a nostalgia trip for me from the Tat Stall too - this Corgi Classics Ford Zodiac:

IMG_20240913_1515012.jpg.34578ad333ee65a4565f7956c11db0ff.jpg

One of these, in this same style of box, was my very first 1/43 purchase - from a model shop in York back in 1989.

I still have the model, but the box was binned - so it's good to have this mint version for a fiver.

And, God help me...

IMG_20240927_1213462.jpg.1a1be71de94250621da0137e91fc6e3e.jpg

Yes, it's happened.

Models of Yesteryear.

IMG_20240927_1216072.jpg.316fd36471eefc9aa05472d233937ab0.jpg

But the Riley MPH is a lovely little model.

IMG_20240927_1216122.jpg.c653036b9286a560175c238f84e47b13.jpg

And a MIB Lesney that's over 50 years old for £2 - well, I knew I'd crumple one day. And I did.

I'm not sorry, though.

Don't think I've posted these pics yet - some market acquisitions from Colin on the Irish Tat Stall:

These were both swaps for some surplus Mattel stuff - duplicates and so forth.

Escort originated with the Smithfield shop, then went to The Nemesis, then swapped to Colin before passing to me. The metallic brown looks ace.

I haven't seen much to tempt me from Oxford in recent months, but this LWB Mk2 Transit was too good to miss.

Very much a model, not a toy, but well-proportioned and with a high degree of charm.

Yes, it's happened.

Models of Yesteryear.

But the Riley MPH is a lovely little model.

And MIB for £2 - well, I knew I'd crumple one day. And I did.

I'm not sorry, though.

Tha Transit looks spot on..

It’s an Oxford… sorry, I’ll get me coat 😆

Technically, technically… that Oxford diecast Transit mk2 has the wrong tail lights for a C reg van!😄

But it is a lovely little model. I might keep an eye out for one or two for my model railway.

And bumpers, light shrouds and grill!

Yes plenty not quite right about that for a 1985-86 Transit.

You could always just replace the number plates with pre 84 ones on that Oxford Transit. If it even bothered you.

It’s similar on my 1:43 ones. They’re the pre facelift mk2’s and I wanted the facelifted version like my old 1:1 scale van!
I’ll definitely try to pick up an Oxford 1:76 though regardless.

An improvement on this one, compared to the earlier GTE releases is that the interior trim has been upgraded to the two tone trim (rainbow?) like on the real cars, on the seats and door cards. It does give the model a bit of a lift,

IMG_20241120_001103.jpg.75f98e609c7cb9a20fe22a29fd063ca3.jpg

Nice low number on the collector's card! Or maybe its how many they've actually sold 🤣Perhaps 1200 was a tad ambitious...

IMG_20241120_000355.jpg.2cdc72276c3929ef7b7323bca72542c3.jpg

Bloody hell, I didn't want/need one of these until I read your post and found they were only 15 quid. Must resist.

TBF 25mm is sod all in real life really, and even less at 1/43 scale. I have seen a few in real life where the tail looks somewhat higher than the nose though. And course few survived the Max Power era without being slammed on 17s then oversteering into a hedge.
