Matchbox RS2000 in white with no stickers. I've had a handful of these pass through my hands and always just thought they'd had the stickers pulled off

PXL_20241104_153006723

But I've started seeing people discuss them as a version in its own right. It's always the white one, never the green or blue. Thoughts?

I’ve had quite a few of those over the years and thought the same as you, just lost its stickers.
But, I’ve seen enough of them, always white and never the others, to make me think now maybe it was a version in its own right. You never seem to see any traces of the stickers or sticky glue residue on them either. Or outlines of where the stickers were.

Maybe it was supposed to have stickers but they ran out or had a shortage so just sent them out for a period without them?

Ooh, I like the green no stickers and the pre production red no stickers ones. The red pre production one would be a good one to create as a replica.
I personally think the sticker-less ones were just sent out because they ran out of stickers for them. I must admit I do prefer them without.

I like the green/no stickers too. I wonder how much it went for?

Are you sitting comfortably?

When you add the commission that will have cost the buyer about £195.

I think the white seats are what made that one go to the moon.

Also for the Escorts fans there are the Matchbox Super GT models that have blacked out windows and no interiors. It came in many colours and two styles of graphics..

I’ve had a few of the Super GT Escorts, a few of that red ‘10 GT Sports’ ones and the purple version of it seemed most common. Pretty sure @eddyramrod had my last one of those?

Ive never had the Super GT Capri though.

A red one, yes; it's still in bits in my cabinet.  I should put in a bit more effort, I suppose...

I’ve got about just over a 110 Super GT, some are surprisingly hard to find but at the same time not very sought after.

Going back to RS2000s, I think I've shown my factory error example before:

I've had it from new and I removed the stickers a long, long time ago, but the glass has always been like that.

BMC 1800 Pininfarina. Fleamarket find today.

Did not realise this was even a Matchbox model. Opening doors. Probably made at the Hackney factory.

20241108_114849.thumb.jpg.765d72220164249622355d4d5f1e366f.jpg

This was one of the many forks in the road where BMC went the wrong way. 1969 model but this was a 1967 rejected concept car.

CEO Sir George Harriman's vision was for a high-tech high product value company - he was cruelly removed in a board room coup by Donald Stokes. The rest is history.

Lovely little model of another time and another place. 😥

The Ferrari 250 GT Lusso was my favourite. I've not seen one on the road since the mid 1980s when I saw on near Groombridge in Kent. I remember back then thinking I'd still like one those and checked out the values. They were about £60,000 to £80,000 then, now they are in the millions and I don't think a lottery win would be enough.

OIP.v_zz_naKF-krjNiBlh3_QwHaEK?rs=1&pid=

By the way, the Ford P68 was not a success. It failed to finish in any race in which it was entered.

Sad twat alert! Never knew they stuck the glazing from the German issues on some of the 3.0 CSLs, it’s got the divot in it where the siren sits on the Polizei one.

Another impulse purchase via me supporting a new toy shop that’s just opened in my local town.

The Oxford Diecast 1/76 Austin Metro. Based on the real life 1980 1.0L bought for Diana Spencer by Prince Charles. I’m not a royalist especially and I expect this car which is now in Coventry Transport Museum was just a good exemplar to base the model on.

I think it captures the shape rather well. Boggo BL cars are rather underrepresented in diecast form, with most models based on the 6R4. I quite fancy the O D Maestro to go with it.

He must have really disliked that woman to buy her one of those, even the times the wife has done my head in with something, I wouldn’t have made her drive one of those heaps of shit. It’s tantamount to spousal abuse buying the wife a Metro 1.0, certainly reasons grounds for divorce. No wonder she went off with the ginger haired chap, I think I’d have done the same.
