RoadworkUK Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Good job... except for painting Mk2 facelift lights onto a Mk1. Bit ug. I'd have gone for Citrine yellow paint and made a bodykitted Si. Tenmil Socket and andrew e 1 1
bunglebus Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Anyhoo, more postal arrivals, mostly Matchbox again Which of three different names will be on the base? Tried to take a few worm's eye view shots of number plates Darker green buggy Opening lid and Rolamatic. How much would that cost in 2024? I genuinely uploaded this pic thinking it was the front 🙃 Got excited thinking I'd found a rarity, but it's a repaint '57 showing off its pink bits More reg plates Zylmex Merc - I've had the Krazy Wheels version for years Kidco... ...just so I can do the glow test And some Corgis, this is the best version of the Regal I reckon (other than the mythical one with the side pipes) And the usual Range Rover MiniMinorMk3, danthecapriman, andrew e and 3 others 6
bunglebus Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Spotted something unusual in a job lot (the rest are above), but I'll come back to that shortly. Firstly, the latest CMC effort landed today What a gorgeous bit of kit. Here it is with my original Bases are very similar, just different rivets, made in China (thankfully quite small font on this one) and if I'm being critical, a bit of a rough finish on the jacks on the new one. But that's not all! Ladies and gentlemen, a treat especial An Auto Pilen Castings appear to be identical, except for opening doors. Not sure what the deal is, I have the Adams Probe by both companies too, and they're also facimilies MiniMinorMk3, AndyW201, andrew e and 6 others 9
Tenmil Socket Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Can anyone tell me anything about this? It appears to have been a plastic kit from 1981? Remspoor, danthecapriman, AndyW201 and 2 others 5

I know the back bumper is missing but looks like there was a drivers side mirror and something attached to the light bar at some point.
eddyramrod Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 I've only ever seen it in catalogues, never in the plastic, but it's a Monogram, I think a Snap-Fit, and the police livery you're seeing there is how it was marketed. I didn't think the Chevy Malibu was a popular choice as a police car but time and research have taught me different. andrew e, MiniMinorMk3 and Tenmil Socket 1 2
andy18s Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Had a few packages arrived today,2 from the UK including Dan's and one I've been after for a while. The Hot wheels id RS200 I was after for ages and 1 turned up to locally. Mint in it's box so will go into the collection. Tenmil Socket, danthecapriman, AndyW201 and 5 others 8

Did I put you the van roof rack in that parcel? I can’t remember if I had or not!

Never knew they stuck the glazing from the German issues on some of the 3.0 CSLs, it’s got the divot in it where the siren sits on the Polizei one. Happened to have one of those in my hand today. Early hinge type Appears to have no hole in the glazing, so maybe both changes happened at once, and there are no early hinge Police ones? MiniMinorMk3 1

bunglebus Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 I spotted these on a site that wasn't eBay! Corgi were such an odd company, spewing out Juniors that in a lot of cases were little better than Hong Kong no names, but also things like this Corniche, with opening everything, tilting seats, detailed dash etc It was joined by a pretty good example of a Superkings Jaaag FakeConcern, eddyramrod, andrew e and 4 others 7
FakeConcern Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 I read that Pilen did a copy of the Corgi Mini Magnifique, I'm sure @MiniMinorMk3will be along shortly to tell us the story... If it is true I need one... bunglebus, eddyramrod and MiniMinorMk3 3
bunglebus Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 There seems to be quite a lot of mystery around Pilen, with most (if not all) of their castings originating elsewhere - and yet they were clearly capable of good work, with the added opening doors etc as discussed above https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auto_Pilen I thought my Adams Probe was a Pilen but it's a Joal. Spain seems to have been a bit of a hotbed of copying/borrowing/inheriting castings for a while! andrew e, AndyW201, FakeConcern and 2 others 5
sierraman Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Look at these bargains in Blackpool! £1.50 each for unboxed tatty Days Gone. My pockets weren’t big enough to cram them all in… 🤣 FakeConcern, danthecapriman, bunglebus and 2 others 1 4

The Oxford Diecast 1/76 Austin Metro. Based on the real life 1980 1.0L bought for Diana Spencer by Prince Charles. I’m not a royalist especially and I expect this car which is now in Coventry Transport Museum was just a good exemplar to base the model on. I think it captures the shape rather well. Boggo BL cars are rather underrepresented in diecast form, with most models based on the 6R4. I quite fancy the O D Maestro to go with it. It does capture the shape well. Early Metros always looked a bit barrell sided with wheels a bit too small & they've captured that well. I like that. warch 1

By the way, the Pilen is a model of the Spanish built 1275 GT that was built at the Authi factory. 13 hours ago, bunglebus said: There seems to be quite a lot of mystery around Pilen, with most (if not all) of their castings originating elsewhere - and yet they were clearly capable of good work, with the added opening doors etc as discussed above https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auto_Pilen I thought my Adams Probe was a Pilen but it's a Joal. It's not a bad effort for such a small scale but something about it doesn't look quite right to my eyes. It seems a bit top heavy so perhaps the glasshouse is a tad too big and the wheels too tucked under. Compared with the 3D print the windscreen especially is a lot bigger and my memory of Metros is of the screen being quite small. danthecapriman, AndyW201 and FakeConcern 3
bunglebus Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 Toy fair day. I almost didn't go as I was supposed to be demolishing my dad's shed, but he got the delivery dates wrong. Good job really as there was a lot to see. I came home with these Pretty restrained for me? Yeah except just as I was leaving I stopped to dribble over two large trays of very tidy Matchbox. I was going to take just four, but came to an agreement with the seller - and took the lot! Don't think I'll be going through them all straight away, as I'm on a job for a few days from tomorrow morning. Hopefully by next weekend I'll have them catalogued andrew e, Spottedlaurel, FakeConcern and 5 others 7 1
