I've had some parcels lately.  First up, some ebay wins:

100_1503.JPG.43cc5d27088da4fd3911271197b2018d.JPG

Well packed eh!  Let's see what I got...

100_1504.JPG.dcc17d6a8d9602e808776b12ab392c74.JPG

Aha!  Most of these are for my sale stock but I particularly wanted the police Volvo and the shipping container, and the yellow Jag.  Next!

100_1506.JPG.0385c75ab37878715e41485e0e2f00a8.JPG

Another fantasy truck for my Anderson fleet, and a fire engine which I might restore, or possibly just sell on.  Next up, a box from @danthecapriman:

100_1508.JPG.fb45f09222aedf0028aa9faef3cdcb2e.JPG

Opened at my usual Friday meeting, as you can see, because boxes from here have to go to a different address and this is when I collect.  Oh yeah, unboxing...

100_1509.JPG.010092b99d00da4f32e0ff5c304a426c.JPG

Nice!  Some real beauties in there.  And when I got home, my Steve Flowers order was in!

Everything I asked for, which means I can now finish off some that have been stalled waiting for parts, and so cluttering up my bench.

100_1507.JPG.afe7852a2223d348260d98986e91b592.JPG

These two weren't actually stalled, but as I've now completed them at the same time... I did the Jensen a while ago in silver, but it didn't please me so I redid it in blue.  Much nicer.  The Porsche was a battered police version and was definitely ready for some filler and paint.

100_1512.JPG.6a60683cc4f885ed790435ec00dad6b9.JPG

Budgie (police) Wolseley was waiting for tyres and a grille, so that's now done.  Corgi Adams Probe didn't need any new parts but again, I finished it at the same time...

100_1513.JPG.e25de812a6959672d2cf102b0342d870.JPG

Dinky Austin 1800 was waiting for tyres; Spot-On A40 just needed stripping and painting.

100_1514.JPG.2cb362c30e34367d26afe94b19b30207.JPG

1800 again, this time with its Spot-On buddy!  I'm quietly very pleased to have restored both now so that I can compare them.

And in another comparison, Corgi Ford Classic from a previous DanBox, with the corresponding Vanguard.

100_1527.JPG.dfd5c038525a040931c6c280f7493931.JPG

The proportions are interesting...  OK now, Rover P6s:

100_1525.JPG.e3ce798aa950d63e5023f21074ef923d.JPG

All four of these are the Corgi Trans-O-Lite model, and all restored by me.  The gold one is the latest addition and has been waiting for windows and tyres, which it now has.

100_1523.JPG.25997f83bce9fa2e82b19d3f0eaf6868.JPG

Marinas!  The white one is the latest, and I completed it just before the new windows arrived for it; that was handy!  The orange (vermilion) one came with the white one but didn't need anything beyond painting.  You've seen the others before.

100_1522.JPG.cc0f930bf8b78edeb33ac60a32bd5076.JPG

And from the latest DanBox, that beige Dodge Monaco station wagon, which is far too nice to strip, along with my existing Fire Chief, and a resto I did earlier.

Some other projects that have been in the queue:

100_1529.JPG.f3687300521c4e05da399ca0b217ccde.JPG

Corgi Studebaker Golden Hawk has gone into my "Goodwood Grid" section now it has windows; a couple from the DanBox will be joining the grid in the coming months.

100_1530.JPG.203f207c85d5dc96da3c4969b3dfad95.JPG

Way way back, like 60 years ago, I remember staying at the family farm near Dublin, where we were treated to some rides in a lorry that was used on the farm.  This is about how I remember it; it may very well have not been an Albion but you know... I was 5, I wasn't looking that closely.  I happened to have a Dinky Albion mixer wagon with no cement bucket from an earlier DanBox, and a leftover Beast Carrier body from a Corgi Dodge Kew Fargo.  It seems to fit rather well!

100_1531.JPG.fc0ec5bc1ac5c798b9ff865c0f3d2afc.JPG

Also from a previous delivery was this Lone Star 1960 Cadillac...

100_1532.JPG.8727af173a963e64d62213c0614fd968.JPG

100_1533.JPG.8127a0331a5079fb1dae7b4c8ced818e.JPG

And finally!  In the latest box was a Polish-partwork Vauxhall Chevette.  It comes on faux-RoStyles, which are nice, but not how I wanted it, because this is to represent a mk1, TKA 311T, that I owned in 1993.  So I swopped the wheels for a spare set from a Bond-partwork Sherpa van, which look much more like the base-model hubcaps my car had.  It comes LHD but I don't think I want to get into those conversions.

Picked this up in the autojumble for £1. Seems to be a one time only release called Mean Dream Racer for a series called Body Swappers

Picked these up today. I’m hoping a Matchbox boot-lid will fit the 205?

This comment has just trickled back into my semi-comatose mind, for no apparent reason...

Just to say, this 'Plaxton 100 Years' coach is still on Colin's stall four months down the line, and still priced at £12.

You can take this as a public service announcement, in case anyone's super-keen...

In other news this week...

Finally turned up both a Kowloon'd Hypervan and a coppery coloured Mitsubishi Pajero Evo, front and centre at the same branch of Poundland. They had a few of each, too.

I'd seen loads of this pair kicking around the shelves in multiple locations before deciding I kind of fancied one of each, at which point they seemed to become completely invisible for like two or three weeks.

Weird.

But! All's well that ends well. Not bad value at £1.50 a go, either - they don't come much cheaper than that.

I also swung past St George's Market briefly on Friday morning, to see if Colin's long-awaited delivery of Matchbox Moving Parts had arrived.

It had!

And... was a Range Rover in there?

There was indeed!

IMG_20240830_0926292.jpg.f05a5ecffcc9d51b61b115b57caa9869.jpg

FFS.

He'd ordered up a bunch of 2023 stock, not the 2024 model selection intended.

"Must have clicked the wrong button on the order."

You're telling me.

So the hunt for a green Range Rover Classic continues... I did stick my head round the door of The Entertainer on Wednesday, and the big Sainsbury's out at Holywood Exchange too, but nada. Ah well - I'll find one.

I took a pass along the General Tat stall for old time's sake, but there wasn't really any genuinely old stuff.

IMG_20240830_0941193.jpg.e6b0efcaee2b37ef4f0040d7007aec57.jpg

The last of the Eligors were out for a fiver; Vanguards and late-era boxed Corgi were a tenner. Nothing I don't already have, or had and sold on.

IMG_20240830_0941122.jpg.8d07d64865c54b1784412e3a0c5f881a.jpg

Assorted mostly septic 'Loose Models' at £3 looked initially tempting, but they were chiefly Maisto and New Ray cheapies, plus some ERTL, Corgi and Brumm, and not really in fantastic nick.

The original blister pack 1960s release of Corgi's Rolls Royce Silver Ghost did kinda appeal, for reasons I'd not like to examine too closely, but at £10 I couldn't quite justify it.

Not this week, anyway.

So Friday's haul looked a bit like this...

IMG_20240831_0049122.jpg.305771fa045abe3f44720b6738094fe3.jpg

Colin did happen to also have a full set of the Hot Wheels 'World Tour' Premiums arrived in, so I swapped him five of my Hot Wheels doubles (picked up when Poundland had their £1 Perks deal on last month) in exchange for the white Supra, plus three of my Matchbox doubles (which dated from the legendary Great Poundland 50p Fuckup of last April) for the Moving Parts 1950 Chevrolet Suburban, which I wasn't aware of until now.

So I think I did okay out of the deal, and hopefully Colin will too - there were some decent enough models in the trade (like the lime green Escort RS2000 and the white Honda Civic Si), so they should sell alright for him.

I also picked up a bright metallic green version of the Audi TT for myself from Poundstretcher's lately-discounted 99p stock; I do have a black version from one of last year's 5-packs (Autobahn Express IV, I think) but the green just looks so much better on it.

I finally cracked and blew a whole 99p on a Mini Cargo Truck too; these seem to be the ultimate Matchbox pegwarmers that absolutely no-one wants for some years now. However, I thought it might pair alright as an accessory for the big airport playset - and to be fair, sometimes it's interesting to take a closer look at these generics, as there's often a lot of care taken with them. I'm kinda interested in finding one of the little street sweepers now...

Finally, the red '72 Corvette Stingray by Hot Wheels came from Home Bargains; I'd dithered over the metallic blue debut version when it came out, and also the white version earlier in the year, before finally throwing this one in my basket.

My interest was primarily in the Trans-o-lite effect headlights, so you can imagine my confusion that this cool little feature seems to have been deleted on the red release - unlike the others, which had blue glazing/headlight units, this one has smoked glazing and the little button on the base seems to be so dark as almost black. So the light can't pass through.

Ah well, it's still a cool-looking little thing.

I’ve never really been into Hot Wheels but lately I’ve become interested in the older stuff.

I'm in Belgium and it's Sunday, so me and Fatha_Sterling popped to a local "brocante" (car boot sale).

Sadly, in terms of miniature shite, there wasn't much of real interest, plus Fatha_Sterling didn't stop by a cashpoint to allow me to withdraw funds...

I liked the Morse Jag here, it needed a couple of jewel lights at front, but as I didn't have cash on me.....

Despite having no cash and it being a massively hot day, I did manage to snaffle this for 5€:

I do like how a boot sale is organised over there: all along a street, plenty of room, good surface.

We haven't been to the Iklesham boot fair so far this year until today, annoying that the road was shut and we wasted about 20 minutes going around to get to it. I did pick up a load of scrap tat for 50p each.

IMG_0082.JPG.d9a75e756a8ebb4fb245bfe3cbde92af.JPG

The Dinky Vega coach is totally fucked, but very impressive!

IMG_0083.JPG.52dd55cb0cdc948da5787c73d40743c6.JPG

I got a nice King Size Javelin and Mrs Concern got a Corgi caravan for £1 each. She has another one missing the plant in the back and with a broken tow hitch so I'll use the door from that on this one.

IMG_0084.JPG.2db4ae59769f0badccdf1301b048036b.JPG

After that we headed for the toy fair in Tenterden, another road shut at Appledore adding another 15 minutes!

I picked up these first, not sure if the KS transporter should have a Mustang II or a Capri on it, but I have both.

IMG_0085.JPG.0458210bd9ad7aaeb801e684a098f837.JPG

A bit more pricey a nice Corgi T Bird, nice Dinky Rambler and a really nice Dinky Consul Capri all of both of which I wanted for a while now. The Dinky VW is a pretty well done resto, but I was less impressed when I found the stuck engine cover had been glued on as the hinge is broken.

IMG_0087.JPG.dc1b83ec144e1552033533c0caa86376.JPG

The Dinky Vanguard is one I had as a kid, but no longer have, it's the one with the faired in rear arches and the same blue. I think it must have come from a cousin as it would be older than me.

IMG_0091.JPG.4ca0a4ec5fdf5da40d043396766f3cc5.JPG

I don't usually want the early toys without windows, but this is the exception

Weekend pick-ups,

Had to nip to the local "small" Asda to pick up a George order for the Mrs. To my dismay, there were signs of a couple of recent Hot Wheels clipstrips having been there, but these were the only two cars left in the whole shop,

IMG_20240901_163850.jpg.c45ddbb75d6c1d4fcd0c13f882b48df4.jpg

I was pleased to get this little Fiat though, its a corker,

IMG_20240901_163932.jpg.4c9aecc38cf151f1ca0a893e4e858719.jpg

Later, at Home Bargains, nothing new Hot Wheels-wise, but they had got more of the Majorette Tune-Ups in, weirdly, the older Series #1 lot. I'm a big fan of the Majorette Golf Mk7 (seeing as Hot Wheels haven't seen fit to do a standard mainline release of theirs yet), so got the three Series 1 Golfs, including this copyright-dodging version,

IMG_20240901_164758.jpg.42c46a73b5e1c65141ab9904aafb0180.jpg

Finally, something different at the "big" Asda,

IMG_20240901_164048.jpg.2384b0367338dc3d2b7d5cc6b538c557.jpg

Trust me, in a shit area like mine, finding something like this in one of the supermarkets is something to get excited about. This Asda has been doing Majorette stuff for a while, but stuff I've not generally been interested in, like the 4X4/trailer combos, trucks and gift packs. This is the first time they've had single cars in.

IMG_20240901_164102.jpg.3050e8a258613d3b380dcf1c97258af8.jpg

Love the colour combo of this one, the 60th anniversary gumph not so much, but can't have everything. There was only this one and the Mustang there, so sadly the Skyline and Renner 5 Turbo were gone. Hopefully though, it'll persuade them to start stocking more of the same!

IMG_20240901_164148.jpg.b059173c29c6ab81a62700c908ad9300.jpg

(Must be a thing about Majorette stuff at the moment, as this one wouldnt scan at the till, the assistant manually typing the number in wouldnt work either, so she just put it through as a generic housewares item.)

Not a massive haul then, but have got a few items winging their way from China,  expected soon.

Got them from Yorkshire Trading Co for £3 iirc.

One of the tills was "offline" so the queue was massive, but you know cash is king.

Very nice - those three are all 2022 releases, and I don't think they were ever widely available in the UK (cos Tesco still held exclusive distribution rights for Matchbox until last year). I've certainly never seen those three available anywhere other than online resellers.

Well found!

Did another trip to a shopping mall, but this time to Carrefour. Unfortunately there wasn't much of interest there. In fact, the shelves were in quite a mess.

This is Belgium and therefore the capital of hardback comics. Hardbacked comics are in abundance here. It's part of growing up, there are comics for certain age groups, you can tell by the covers and general subject matter. It's big business.

I’ve not had a huge amount of time the last few days for models. Long story short - house is sold (again!), chain seems good and short below us, now got to find somewhere to go to. I’ve got everything crossed for this now. As the old saying goes… sixth times the charm!

Got a bit done on the windows for the Dodge, but I’ve also been working on these two.

Mercedes 608D comes as a miniature fuel tanker but I decided to change it, because the tool cabinet that’s also fitted to it was stolen for the Dodge! So now it’s a nice little delivery truck using up one of the spare bodies from one of my previous chassis donors.

Chassis had to be stretched a bit, original Argentinian petroleum company decals removed from doors and roof repaint (because it had a beacon light fitted which damaged the paint when I removed it!) then repainted the box body and made a new rear light bar etc.

And a Transit mk1 luton van.
Cab is a Vanguard’s model cut down, new bulkhead from plastic card. Chassis is from a Russian GAZ Gazelle van heavily modified as the Vanguards chassis was both too short and was for a swb van with single rear wheels.
Luton body is actually a 3D printed kit I got from a model railway supplier! First time I’ve used a 3D print this big (usually use just small detail parts) and I’m pretty impressed with them! They do need a bit of tidying up in places to get rid of surface imperfections and those little pips where they were printed but overall not bad at all.
Still plenty to do. Front track needs narrowed slightly, bumper grafting on, rear light bar, paint box body roof etc etc but it’s worked out pretty well I think.

Here's the scene at a small Oslo supermarket

A few Majorette Monster Trucks, multipacks and Tune-Ups.

The search continues...

Love those! Seeing the wider track, an A Series would look great but I think it was only Matchbox that ever made one.

You probably never will, but if ever you do want to sell the 608/ come across another one, I'd love to buy it off you or request a change to a single car transporter like my Dad had, either in army green or white.

You can get a car transporter version…

Mine was this type originally. Same base model (IXO base) but from a magazine partwork.

I’d love to do an A series. Only one I know of is the Matchbox though.
It’s probably possible to butcher a Transit into one but I can’t imagine it’d be straight forward!

Blimey, been a busy old day in the toy aisle at my local Tesco:

Meh. Apparently work's ongoing until the end of the month.
