That's worth a try,thanks.

There's a few transformers on eBay,but most are being sold as untested.I did think of buying one of those universal ones  & cutting the plug off.If only there was someone who was into such things, @flat4alfa ?

It can be any transformer as long as voltage matches and amperage is same or higher than the original one. I assume it’s a barrel jack? Cheapest way to do it would be finding a 6v $properA transformer on a flea market and if barrel jack doesn’t fit, buy another one with jack that fits and transfer it over. Just be mindful of polarity, some have it as positive on the pin negative on the barrel, some have it vice-versa! It’s marked on the transformer as so

I think you did pretty well with that lot! Some nice bits and pieces in there.

Dinky Dublo are smaller scale 1:76 sized vehicles designed to go together with the old Hornby Dublo train sets in OO gauge (same size/scale).

Not sure exactly what the gauge is, but I’m pretty sure that company made electrical test equipment a very long time ago. It’s probably some sort of ancient version of a multimeter! Interesting item though, and I bet it’d look good with a clean up.

Think those are all new colours from the very latest 2024 Matchbox mix case - certainly haven't seen any of those in Blighty yet.

The first release of the RX-8  last year was indeed metallic black; I have one but haven't yet opened it, as there have been an awful lot of Mattel models released in black lately - and I don't think it's a colour that looks all that great on toys (there are, of course, some exceptions like the '64 Lincoln Continental). Red's the second release so far on the Mazda.

Holding out for metallic blue recolour of the RX-8 next year, maybe!

While I appreciate the earlier Mebetoys releases under Mattel are definitely the nicest, I couldn't resist this mint pair of later offerings

Following on from my suitcase of shite find yesterday I've been looking up about the Hot Wheels Revvers and in particular the one I picked up which is a Jettin' Vette...

https://hotwheels.fandom.com/wiki/Jettin'_Vette

Apparently came in four colours , yellow, red, light blue and a darker blue which acording to the link above is

Quote

Rare, only a few known to exist

This is the light blue one

JETTIN2.jpg.ef3db1044f0bd980b0ed9ad4b2621c65.jpg

the "rare" darker blue

and here is mine

IMG_0012.JPG.ac99d4146920bbfbd7be28958467726a.JPG

So is mine a super rare one? How accurate is the Wiki Hotwheels fan page?

Obviously I had a look at Ebay and found these for sale in the USA

this is $198

s-l1600.webp

and this $156

s-l1600.webp

I also found this sold on ebay.co.uk for £31.55 plu post

I’d love to fondle it for a while too, but it’s perhaps too valuable for the likes of me

Let’s see if you can get it working first - does the wheel on the back turn the black connector on the underside? If so then it’s worth finding out a pair elastic bands to fit.  One small one to the wheel and the other longer one to the underside that will twist to ‘wind-up’ and build the tension

American collectors tend to insist on bright clear photos (if not, they will bug you to supply them), so list it with international postage on eBay's global shipping programme. Then we can watch it play out from the comfort of our lounges!

And why would they bug you?  Because Jettin' Vette is worth hundreds of Dollars over the water:  https://www.southtexasdiecast.com/hwguide/revvers.html

Never had one of those Matchbox Motorways, even as a boy (all we had was coal to eat). Lesley produced the sets under licence from Arnold in Germany who had produced it as part of their model railway dioramas

The British transformer was rated 10 Volts at 0.4 Amps

IMG_0309.jpeg.2029aa13171d86aa741c2ab062b74e88.jpeg.8db672babb4055f45f1db554c97fc6cd.jpeg

We can see that H&M of model railway regulator fame made them for Lesney.  But I probably wouldn't use another of theirs as an alternative though as railway sets commonly ran 12 Volts at a heftier 2.5 Amps

The Yankee market transformer was 9 Volts at 0.6 Amps (7 VA) for comparison

IMG_0311.jpeg.78579e433fceaba3c942bd8f25f4022f.jpeg.c16784a6829d21dc31dc3dc22d1e5f85.jpeg

As mentioned above we would need to determine the polarity from the open terminals to the track, but I doubt there was much sophistication in the circuit.  If you got it wrong the motor would likely just turn the opposite way and drag the cars backwards, which might be hilarious to watch if they all managed to do J-Turns in sequence...

It appears to be the light blue "common" one.

This makes me think of putting mine on ebay and maybe getting back most or all of my £35 outlay!

Any comments, does it sound like a plan?

Popped into Entertainer yesterday and spoke to the manager, who let slip that the Entertainer section of Tesco was getting stocked up and opened today - said pop in and he'll see what new boxes of Hot Wheels were there - so I did. It was all partitioned off but I managed to spot him, and he brought me an L case out
