I like those Matchbox Collectibles Muscle Cars. There are 12 of them in the series.

Some bigger bits to finish off, this was a quid if anyone wants it. Broken I think where the upper deck hinges on the lower, but perfect just to display cars on

PXL_20240505_113341190.jpg.ae00792f591526b4f44a6c750901f138.jpg

There's often a story with these cars. Seller had several boxes full of cars that had clearly got very damp in storage, apparently stored in a loft, bloke died and his wife had no idea there were loads of cars up there. I actually thought it was a Dinky at first, and I wasn't going to leave a Spot On Anglia behind for £3

Another Dinky, battered but has all the panels, interior bits and driver as well as most of the jewel lights. Not bad for a quid

There is one more Dinky, but first this - not quite sure why I wanted this plastic baja but I bought it anyway

I passed a place in Worksop a few days ago - a train hobby type place, sometimes they have diecast in. £8 for a Dinky Rover SD1 missing the tailgate. Non.

Love that Dinky Crapi, it’s one I’ve seen pictures of but never actually seen one yet in the metal. Looks in great condition too.

There was so much to take in at that toy fair. Saw I think four of the black James Bond Corgi Rockets Merc SLs. One guy had two of the James Bond Capris and an Escort from the same series as well as the Merc, but at £30 a pop they stayed in the tray. There were stacks of tatty redline Hot Wheels, more carded ones than I think I've seen on one stall before, the Spot-On Morris Minor (£45 I think). I was trying to be good but that Capri finished me off. I did see a Corgi Rambler Marlin but the grille was damaged, one of them is on my hit list for sure.

Purchases from a 1:1 car show I popped along to this morning:

IMG_0825.JPG.060d88bfa6343a186bb1e0e74ff17a30.JPG

Most/all seem to be US releases, the guy had brought a load in.

Also found time to get all the Majorette 1/60-ish camions together:

IMG_0830.JPG.cbb4e52be76f7ced3d477a2f50b41d7b.JPG

IMG_0826.JPG.4370b8f6fe4e2cc4ce50476aaafc5b0b.JPG

The one that started it all is the boat transporter, which came from a French holiday in 1980. It was only fairly recently that the mast disappeared, may still be lurking in the bottom of one of Master SL's toy boxes....

They're a nice size, pretty close to Matchbox Superkings and not far off Siku.

And my trio of Shinsei Mini Power trucks:

IMG_0833.JPG.3483047787b086fe4c2ebb727ecc9c8c.JPG

Weighty and well-engineered with various working/moving features.

Found time to do a bit on a couple of 1/24 kits, reportage to follow tomorrow.

Posted

A decent bit of progress being made on the current kit projects:

IMG_5866.JPG.108f6b3bdb67f31a47235b26c4a2f8dc.JPG

Humbrol (Esci) Fiat that I first built in the early-mid '80s, then for some reason got attacked with yellow aerosol and left in the parts box for years and years.

IMG_0837.JPG.a7ada87f992ad3ddba85174f0e8b1d28.JPG

Stripped and now going through a repetitive cycle of fill, sand and prime. Just one more round to go, hopefully. Back in the day I got sent a load of replacement parts when I had a problem putting it together, so I don't have to rely on re-using everything from the original build.

Lots of primer then first coats of colour going down on the Tamiya Nissan Fairlady ZG (similar to but much more detailed  than the purple Fujimi version I recently completed):

IMG_0851.JPG.d2c30bc6ee3984fdfc86f1bc381dcbb0.JPG

IMG_0845.JPG.2a4d9afd9c7e4b7142d0995595ce842b.JPG

931 Ochre, same colour as the 1:1 Datsun 1200 I had a few years ago. Assembly of this will be much easier due to the arch flares etc being separate mouldings, they've all been painted metallic grey:

IMG_0838.JPG.e83157dfe15fbd61db934ddf9bfaa00b.JPG

The correct way would be to remove all these parts then laboriously fix them to cocktail sticks or whatever to paint them. However, in most cases the attachment points are sufficiently hidden that I can snip them off afterwards and just touch them up (hopefully).

IMG_0855.JPG.27a40a065acdaea6e1ecfbefe77809ba.JPG

I'm building this one as hi-po restomod so it's getting the RB26 engine from a Skyline GT-R, converted to RWD. A little more work required on the mounts but it fits OK so far - it's of similar physial size and I'm just replacing one straight-six with another.

A tiny bit of clean-up and more coats of paint required on the outer bodywork, but at least now I can see what it's going to look like and I can get on with the interior, suspension, engine installation etc.

Went to the boot sale again today as the weather looked alright, and I had cars to pick up from the young lad who runs a stall there.

Not many sellers, and it did start to rain after a while too.

Still, came home with some bits
