1963 Cadillac 2-door hardtop

Ah... you've found the Mini-Dinky Cadillac.  Buy it quick, if not tell me where it is pretty please

Couple of VW arrivals, firstly what I think is a white metal kit with similarities to the Budgie no.8

PXL_20240501_172852076.jpg.8affefd2793dd3b8b0e3352e44a5e594.jpgPXL_20240501_172845333.jpg.a45ae0c1bcc0ab7aa3948f23e452add6.jpg

One wheel was off on arrival, followed shortly after by the other

PXL_20240501_172954781.jpg.eda653e7c4ab37a9bfb77f9f772d18c1.jpg

Next is this Joustra, I have a couple of Renaults by the same maker,  but this one is a bit curious...

PXL_20240501_172646481.jpg.afce7dfc8128e728c93e79e7f7f5768a.jpgPXL_20240501_172651577.jpg.ea232ef5f3e8b8a0cda8f15d21630122.jpg

The styling is known as the Mulholland Look, a short lived fad in the 80s with unlikely square lights etc

Didn't you nab the police car with windows that turned up on here?

Yes, a glazed Corgi Cub is a rare beast

Is makes a Mothercare toy transform into a Gerry Anderson film prop.

BUT I would swap for a Mini-Dinky Cadillac, no question

But they were the same mix with the Volvo 240 again - down to £1.49

Next arrival is part two of two, part one not here yet!

Tooned Twin Mill isn't the most exciting...

PXL_20240501_1734465782.jpg.695c6823e0a6a8e6cee89d8500058573.jpg

Supra and Silvia are also excellent

This is mix B of the 56th anniversary set, mix A is en route. There's a gold chase car for each mix but they're a lot of money and I don't especially like them

Did not know that.  Went off to find out more

1725180.jpg.f5bfc051bd1791dbc4003ed2a8c05dea.jpg

Wondered what it had to do with name Mulholland.  Looked up the ZIP code 90038, but that's off Santa Monica Boulevard, bang in the centre of Hollywood - ah but just 15 mins away from Mulholland Drive, up in the hills

1476006.jpg.1ba642b230def46e7672758af41e16cb.jpg

So went off to look at 90710, but that's right down near Torrance, 50 mins in the wrong direction.

Then they moved to Tennesee!

Didn't find out why.

Yes I feel the same.  But then typically, when out of the boxes and under good lighting, I then get drawn in...

2024-56th-anniversary-mix-1-set-1200pxot

But I will have to say no as I have a shedload of Dodge Vans to dispose of

Here's a thought.

Why is a CHASE car the solid roof version and not the glazed roof version, that's a bit more special and shows interior?  They could have used the clear glazing piece and picked out the seating, making it that bit more chase special not unlike like this mainline, that didn't get detailed there

77_Dodge_Van_-_12_Heat_Fleet_Red.JPG.webp.ff6eb4bad6b419f85b54730f52096749.webp.7e0e30cf44d17f147f3a42d568e157e1.webp

I wasn't sure about the Super Chromes version from a while back...

77_Dodge_Van_Chrome_Gold_19.webp.968c01a7471e3c84ce829cda23bd797e.webp.241d535c4ee8925031b54831187cde63.webp

I thought that reversing the colour scheme for black to be the dominant colour, with gold as the highlight instead, would have been better?   Almost that was the decision they couldn't decide on for the 55th CHASE VW

Volkswagen_T1-GTR_-_55th_Anniversary_Hot_Wheels_2023_loose.webp.c084b3602d26c666bedeb7620a017d95.webp.5441861fde305b06048cbae977af7892.webp

What I do have is one of these News TV livery ones that mean nothing to me

IMG_6205.webp.ed8b9d7ffbafb72dbe99dc8e29e61bea.webp.ed5785bdc459453f87bc099c57e9141e.webp

...and Teal metallic paint is already on the shelf in the garage

Then get some transfers printed off with a similar design, but reversed, in a counterfeited type of way

Another partwork car joined the collection today.

I was looking at these for ages on and off but never quite pulled the trigger on one.

Yeah, ok. It’s just a Vectra.
But, my dad had one which is why I fancied one. At the time it was only about a year old, R970XHL, a silver 1.8 saloon. At the time I hated it, but only because the families beloved Datsun Sunny coupe was traded in for it, and that unfortunately was the death warrant for the Datsun as it went straight to scrap.
But, the Vectra was actually a very good car! Nothing exciting really but it was faultless really in the years we had it.
It’s not really my thing, I’ll be honest. It’s not old enough to interest me really but since dad had one… and because I’d looked at it on eBay a few times I got a 10% off seller offer so decided for the price why not.

They do remind me of the Turbo Look kits that you could get over here. I think GP, of beach buggy fame, did them. I have a mate who had a GT Beetle with a Turbo Kit and Shorrock Supercharged engine.

Here's one by Alba on a 1303.

They were Dinky, for the smaller-sized person.

Produced in Hong Kong, at the same factory later adopted by Mattel for Hot Wheels early production

They were expensive new and suffered metallurgy problems later in life, so examples are scarce

I have a few and covet them but keep them on a shelf and handle with care

Late 40's Chevy/GMC make looks like mini tots/tiny tots or similar name I think.

Corgi cubs bring back memories.

I remember the receiving the green jeep as a gift from my gran. Brother got a blue truck. We also had a couple of silver "shell" tankers. Brother had the cop car which I always thought looked UFO / Strakeresque.

Well-packed goodies arrived today after a complex tripartite trade arrangement between @Datsuncog, @flat4alfa and myself:

IMG_0518.JPG.b11b46731cec136d2913babda9eac04a.JPG

By coincidence both are around 1/60

Shinsei GMC has lots of features:

IMG_0519.JPG.fccee3b0eb9865fbd1c6e275979a9acb.JPG

Well-engineered with a lot of play value. It's missing the RH rear jack and a couple of poles, but is in tidy condition. A complete one:

image.jpeg.d621892289f0e08c3925107aac4618b5.jpeg

The Majorette transporter can join my fleet of their 1/60 commercials - I'll try and do something useful over the Bank Holiday weekend and get a photo of them all. In the meantime:

IMG_0521.JPG.dc9fe3705873e571915cda7f687664e9.JPG

I could use the cars that were in my cabinet at work. I found a photo of a boxed example with pretty much this load, just a Datsun 260Z instead of the R17 - I thought the latter seemed like a suitable substitute.

P.S. It looks like I knocked the LH door mirror off, but fortunately I haven't lost it....

The elephant in the living room are those Mini Dinkys.

That's the stuff that separates the boys from the collectors.

You can't find that kind of shite even at toy fairs or on eBay.

There are a few here but need photographing first.  Will have to find where they are in a cabinet but they might have turned to dust.  These are old photos of one of the Mini-Dinky Chevrolet Chevy II on that shelf

20200721_110217429_iOS.thumb.jpg.43bad3190270a4eaa9c02e85cc43eb82.jpg

It's nicely done, considering the scale.  The Chevrolet Chevy II is a model not commonly seen, aside from an over-the-top custom by Hot Wheels

20200721_110427144_iOS.thumb.jpg.dd2447c24a18be6c53b7bf5dafb3552c.jpg

Proportions look great, detail is tidy, paint is good, glazing is very good.  One casting flaw on an A-pillar but not found much else.  I was expecting something nasty, but to be fair it wants to be a quality item - as it also appears to have turned, not cast, wheels and has separate tyres.

20200721_105120270_iOS.thumb.jpg.734575f5a730109e2185c64acefcaad9.jpg

The trunk lid on this is missing, but it looked in the photos to have been a flat piece that should be straightforward to reproduce.  The paint wear isn't that bad considering it's 52 years old

You're telling me!  I'm to be sectioned next Tuesday.

This is what there is here from the Mini-Dinky range:

Individual photos of each model may be possible, but not right now.  Maybe if sunny tomorrow afternoon, eh.

The ones I was after but never achieved were the Mustang and the Cadillac.

I can see why this appealed to kids, it's pretty fun doing 3 point turns etc - but like everyone else I wish they'd made a standard version or at least made the L signs separate so it could be reverted to a stock saloon

Instructor appears to be wearing a crash helmet which I find very amusing
