Sticking with Matchbox, I gained a couple of Laser Wheels

As well as a Super Kings K70 Porsche Turbo, I'd been on the lookout for a decent example of this release for a good while. It has had a couple of touch-ins on the "sunroof" sticker etc which an annoyance

I always liked that door handle feature on those Porsches. It's just cool.

Yet more Matchbox, but in boxes now. Firstly this Model A, perhaps not the most exciting casting but I really liked my childhood early cream and green version as depicted on the box

Seller unfortunately just wrapped the lot in paper so the boxes got a bit of damage - as well as underpaying the postage

That one is also slightly irritating, listing shows the NS door sticker like this

Not this

Seems to a week of it, the Dragon Wheels card also has minor damage not shown in the listing.

Guy that sold the lot of boxed Matchbox is basically saying tough shit, and that he deliberately underpaid the postage because the cars only went for 99p. What a tosser.

Seems my tendency to hide things of interest right at the back, just in case I need to come back for them later, has worked out ok!

It’s absolutely pathetic childish behaviour being like that. What a bitter little wanker!

If you don’t want the item to go for 99p on eBay… then don’t start it at 99p!?! Not difficult really.

Last month I bought these two Spot On Zephyrs for £10 at a toy fair, the seller said I could make one good one from both. He originally wanted £20 for them and having looked on ebay since then it would not have been too bad'

IMG_9022.JPG

So I have been working on one and ordered parts for the other from Steve.

IMG_9252.JPG.4425bcafe9b98284e05368987183657a.JPG

I had to make a bumper end for both bumpers from plasticard and I added people stolen from Mrs Concern's model box and a dog on the back seat which is a Corgi haha

I'm not Spot Ons biggest fan, but the Zephyr really does look the part

This is the best screen with a slight crack centre bottom, it looks to be where it originally came off the sprue

The "colour scheme" was suggested by @eddyramrod and can't say it was a bad choice. Not sure what I'll do with the other one, I had thought it would be a white Z Cars rozzer again but now fancy something different.

Just before I went away on Monday, a box arrived...

100_1036.JPG.68393e01b558cfd64864ad5d2407b5ad.JPG

Some ebay bargains; all from one seller and tbf, most of them were a job lot.  Only the boxed Vanguards Rover was an individual sale, and after bidding on the job lot, I just added a couple of singles to make up the parcel.  The Rover was the only one I won, of I think three or four.  But then I don't bid very much!

And then another box arrived!

100_1044.JPG.311fcde70f34ba5f34264a6145bc12d9.JPG

Now this one, wrapped in Happy Birthday paper, is bloody heavy, what can it be?

100_1045.JPG.a3ca1a9fc13489e3d837c947fffd8e06.JPG

100_1046.JPG.7c939bf3430ada184b0dec5b93f08ad0.JPG

A Birthday box from @FakeConcern, that's what it is!  (And like the Danbox recently, I did actually send money for it.)  I don't know what to do with the yellow Dinky caravan.  I mean, I want the interior for another project, but apart from not having a door (normal) it seems too nice to break.  The beige and blue caravan behind it, on the other hand, looks nice enough but the blacked-out windows mean no interior anyway, so I have no qualms at all about breaking that one up.  In fact tonight I've been measuring it...

The Express Services truck is something I already have, but now I have it on both types of wheel: the early spun hubs, and the later cast wheels.  Happy bunny.

Oh and two trips to the charity shops have brought in some more treasure too.

100_1039.JPG.6640355d49ffa96e569b8865a2ca09f1.JPG

Yes, a third yellow truck to go with the two I picked up recently.  I'm guessing they were a set from new.

100_1053.JPG.3e145ec27bb5983ba2fc8e450de6cb18.JPG

Transporter (rigid chassis) with what looks like a Mercedes cab, but wait, is that a Corgi Toyota Supra in 1/36 scale?  Why yes, so it is, and in very very nice condition too.  The parcel shelf has got a bit displaced which is why the tailgate is up; but I've now fixed that with a pair of small pliers.  I may have to start spreading my 1/36 fleet over more shelves!  Oh and the pop-up headlights still work.

Speaking of work...

You don't need much in the way of words really, the pics tell you enough.  Two batches through the stripping baths, and some shells in primer.

Now here's something different... what would you think if you walked into a Carers' Support Cafe and saw this?

100_1052.JPG.04bf6d8e2bd093cd5c311052be189cc2.JPG

I had arranged to run a quiz at today's meeting, just for fun, no prizes.  Two lines of cars, ten from films and ten from TV.  Each one identified on its tag, along with a star or two from the relevant production.  All the carers had to do was identify the film or show in question.  Actually there were 21 cars because for one film I used a matching pair, which was a clue in itself.  From a possible 20 points the winner scored 10.5, which was pretty good considering my entire audience was Women Of A Certain Age, one of whom didn't even live in Britain when half these shows were on the air.  It certainly got them thinking about something outside their usual "care" routine!

Remember this one, originally from the market but latterly my sales thread?

Yeah, I decided to just keep it for myself after all.

So of course, it needed to come out of the packaging.

Ok, I'll keep the Ford and you can keep the canoe, yeah?

Brentwood toy fair today, but I've decided to give it a miss as it kind of blows my head up having so much on offer.

Early morning boot sale and a quick stop in Entertainer netted me a few bits though, and I'm going to try and sort out some more cars to sell while I'm still getting free eBay listings. Watch this space...

That is glorious, and precisely opposite to my dad's Zephyr 4 that he bought new (DWM 95C): navy with pale blue interior.  TBH I think these look beautiful in almost any colour scheme.

Definitely. It’s one of those cars that just can’t look bad in any colour. Even ratty matte black doesn’t look bad.

I’m slowly getting the MAN 6x4 done.

Cab is getting there. I need to keep offering it up to the chassis at the moment though so I’ll wait before painting it.

IMG_4338.jpeg.1312354006d64ffb31785278d19231cf.jpeg

Chassis needed shortening to become a tractor unit, so some sections were removed from the middle then rejoined.

Looks about right mocked up with the trailer now.

IMG_4399.jpeg.26d1f514197c2ce676867ae473695a8b.jpeg

The original chassis for this was a 6x6 but a 6x4 is more appropriate for a tractor unit. So, I removed the front driven axle and suspension (one plastic moulding) and made a new replacement from plastic section.
I did do this in a more ‘scale’ appearance but the weight of the cast metal chassis and cab was bending the plastic so I had to beef it up! All works though!

IMG_4412.jpeg.824fd986a69fdaecfe38b058d20e4529.jpeg

Next I needed a 5th wheel coupling.
I stole one from another IXO truck to use as a template, at least then I know the trailer pin will fit! Then cut out the parts from plastic card. It actually does tilt slightly as it should too once the trailer goes on.

Starting to look better now.

IMG_4413.jpeg.35b4fff7805165df79bf6fec110dc10b.jpeg

Still a bit to do.
Fuel tank needs making smaller, air tanks need refitting, hoses behind cab making, rear wheel mud gaurds, painting… probably a load of other stuff too!

Im pretty pleased with this one!
I wouldn’t mind finding another and doing it as the panel van version with less chrome.

Seems to be pretty much just one man's collection but I always found it fascinating

Sadly this is yet another item that arrived damaged during delivery, thanks to Evri dragging it along the road by the look of it

Interesting looking book.

Really boils my piss when (a) things aren't packaged well & (b) delivery folk just don't give a crap & damage stuff.  Utterly needless.

I’ve never liked that Dinky Caddy either. It looks terrible! The top half is completely out of proportion to the bottom half.
In a way it sort of looks like one of those futuristic bubble top concept cars from the 50’s!

I got this Matchbox Mercedes Benz Binz Ambulance off a market stall today. It was £4.00 which i'm pretty chuffed with. Even has the little patient & his blanket.

I don’t think I’ve ever had one of those with the patient and blanket still with it. Nice find.

I've never seen one with so much paint never mind the patient, great find @ETCHY!

As it's all quiet on here this evening I'll share another find from last week I'd kind of forgotten about, it is totally fucked mind you!

It's a FIAT from the 70s/80s
