Shite in Miniature II

I got the UAZ van painted the other day.

Now in SEB livery! There’s a couple of little bits where the masking was a tiny bit off, but I’ll just touch them in later.

Also got this, 1/43 Peugeot 504 cheap, so stripped it today.

It’s quite a nice looking casting once the thick factory paint is off.
This one was another Bond part work car, but after removing it from its box there were various paint scratches/scuffs and glue finger prints on the paint. Quality control was obviously taking a day off when this one was made.
There’s better colours than black for these so I’ll do it as a normal everyday car rather than a Bond villain car.

I've been trying to sort out 45 odd years worth of damage and awful casting marks out of this Whizzwheels Escort.

Interesting to find the remnants of the holes from the early one with the external roll bars

Smoll Eddy is partial to a Mk1 Escort Rally car.

You could have given it a wash Smoll Eddy!!

How about the Rouge Persan (Persian Red) of the car Charles Bronson drove off a train, to cure claustrophobia.  Yes you read that correct.

The film is a bit shonky but the car stood out mainly because of the colour!  Oh and it drove off a train.  Not only that, what with a whole empty field, he just had to clout the electricity sub-station in the middle of it.

Jackie Pruit : What's that thing where you get scared of being cooped up in iddy-biddy dark places?
Charlie Congers : Claustrophobia?
Jackie Pruit : That's the fella! Well, I think I've got it!
Charlie Congers : Fasten your seat-belt.
Jackie Pruit : Why?
Charlie Congers : I have a cure for it!

If they'd put in the Beano about 10 years later I might have seen it

I’ve never seen that film tbh!

But, red looks good actually. I was just going to do it white or beige or something plain like so many of them seemed to be.

Ah but it was a sunroof car - see roof top at 47:00 and inside at 47:20

It was an export 504 Ti Automatique, you can see the badges in the shot when driving onto the on-ramp

Great photo, interesting colours

It was taken 1973, when the Jochen Mass car was No.38 and in those colours.  The car is Surtees TS15/09 and not seen again after 1973, thought to be the one lost to a transporter fire over winter.

1018391999-COL-19730626-ECCol1973F2Lotteria57.jpg.ce205d4209617fff458b7a9572cb144d.jpg

Perhaps Majorette could supply the Volvo 145 behind the transporter, with a bit of work to de-245

s-l1600(1).jpg.877bcbdb31c06c816751f6c575abaff0.jpg

Transporter is single rear axle, similar to UPH 877F used by Team Surtees in 1976.  Very similar in fact, although above the cab front design is not slanted.  Perhaps it is the same transporter and the 'transporter fire' in 1973 necessitated a part-rebuild?

SurteesF1.jpg.1a49f72e5793c2b29d00e755745c2489.jpg

It was modelled by Jada Kits

Yes could build around K-40 Matchbox Delivery Truck which has 'canvas' sides and twin rear axles

Delivery_Truck_and_Fork_Lift_2929.webp.1544034a82dc1bdd1af47c9ab624893c.webp

Alternatively K-19 Security Truck is single axle and has lower skirting.  But both are facelift D-Series...

Or just call the whole thing off.

I have one without the plastic frame or the building. Want to know where I can get them ?

I saw 1 and 3 for sale cheap but couldn't find any info on the contents. Don't want to unearth the VHS to hear two men in tank tops droning on about James Bond DB5 variations for three hours

I think it’s basically just a video of someone’s collection with a brief description of the toy. But if I stilll have it it’s not been watched since the last century 😂

I was browsing tat for sale this morning and noticed a Corgi car carrier I wasn't aware of. As if by magic, I found this one in a charity shop today

Not purchased much in the way of Hot Wheels for, ooh, a couple of weeks now. (To be honest I think I was a bit overwhelmed by the recent Q  case dump at Aldi!) Sadly things have returned to bugger all in the way of HW and Matchbox mainlines at the usual haunts.

Worryingly, my local Morrisons have finished their revamp and their toy section is now half the size it used to be, and the current diecast on offer is one clipstrip of bastard Teamsters! This is concerning as this branch used to be my best hunting ground for Hot Wheels mainlines, although Home Bargains recently opened a new store quite near us, which has mainly recent releases in, so fingers crossed for there.

I need somewhere good for mainlines, as recently I've been buying more bloody premiums instead!

IMG_20231120_232256.thumb.jpg.28e873c183abdeee1f4c0110ecb3a45b.jpg

I had to drop master_201 off at his prospective big school for an assessment this morning, which left me at a loose end for an hour. And with Smyths only 10 minutes away...

IMG_20231120_232334.thumb.jpg.d25f30e5fc02ab7bc618c4089d907150.jpg

They had had a bit of a restock, but with slightly older premium stuff. Which was okay, as I had missed out on this when they first came out. Granted it's not the best 190E they've done, but it's still a 190E!

I think the colour is the issue, I don't think this green is the most inspiring, although they're not spoilt for options with the Evolution II as M-B only made 500 of the road version, all in Blauschwartz, (apart from 2 mythical special order ones in Astral Silver and Almandine Red), and they've already covered that with the Modern Classics version.

20171028_130722.thumb.jpg.d5b348c603163c93abaa976187a44e70.jpg

(Glad I got this one before the prices went stupid...)

So any colour they do now is going to look a bit odd. Saying that I think Signal Red or Astral Silver would have worked better..

IMG_20231120_232513.thumb.jpg.f8e3db90c6f62e60197c79710f29d28e.jpg

Saying that, there is a fair bit to like about this one, the tampo detailing on the lights is good. Clear indicators are a nice touch and a throwback to the days when I had a couple of slightly modified Euro-style  190s and the "clears vs gingercators"  war, er, debate was in full swing on the Merc forums. The Evo II specific bodykit is well modelled too.

IMG_20231120_232405.thumb.jpg.ac93369230fd1c591687a4e46a8dabcd.jpg

The wheels are suitably Euro too, with  a nice bit of dish to them, although I still prefer the Ronal Turbo-style wheels on the black version. The beige on these ones reminds me of a Bornite 190E a mate on the forum had a few years ago to which he fitted a set of RH Topline deep dish wheels, painted the same shade of beige as the interior. When the car was parked up with the doors open, the effect was absolutely stunning! So much so, I ended up with two Bornite 190s afterwards...

IMG_20231120_232629.thumb.jpg.d61687ab33e54829e2d3d53606094f8c.jpg

Nicely detailed at the rear too, though they could have done the reversing lights. Nice work on the Evo II rear wing though.

They also had the yellow Porsche 911 Turbo which I like a lot, but I only had a tenner on me, so the Merc won. Hopefully they still have a Porker in stock next week...

Ventured out to a very cold but busy boot sale today. Quite a lot of tiny tat vendors but £1 seems to be the new 50p

Took a bit of a chance on this big Dinky Shovel Dozer, not something I've laid eyes on before

Ventured out to a very cold but busy boot sale today. Quite a lot of tiny tat vendors but £1 seems to be the new 50p

Took a bit of a chance on this big Dinky Shovel Dozer, not something I've laid eyes on before

A few Majorettes including a tidy 5, sans mirrors of course

Whoever was in charge of Matchbox at the time did a decent job on the Thunderbird. Not a colour I've encountered previously

928 is also an unusual one, out of a set IIRC

Nice haul.
That Matchbox Thunderbird is a really good looking model, I like them too. That one you’ve got is, I think, a colour changer.
I’ve got that one, the dark blue and the red ones!
