Shite in Miniature II

Currently kicking my heels waiting to go back to a job - conveniently outside Smyths utilising their free parking.

Not a lot to be found, they had a couple of Modern Classics MX-5s left and a 10 pack with a backwards Corvette, but even I wouldn't pay a tenner for the privilege of owning that

Tiny F+F Dom Jolly house by Jada isn't something I've seen before

I was told the reason for short and long cards for Hot Wheels was you can alternate them to maximise peg space. Being as the only time I find them mixed up is when some buffoon has been rummaging before me, and that they only come in boxes of one or the other, I think this is unlikely

Shirley short cards alone would give even more.

On one peg short-long-short takes up less room - but of course you have to space the pegs further apart vertically

Since the chassis is a dually I’m thinking it’d look good as a tow truck!

Still got those Scammells donors in a box?

Could bolt a boom straight onto the stake bed.  Remove stake sides and ends, paint it blue and white, fit an Orangutan in the passenger seat and yell "Right turn, Clyde"

I think I have them still. Somewhere.
The boom’s on them look about the right sort of size for a smaller truck. I’ll have to find them though, which might take a while!

Not a lot to be seen on the main stall this morning, tat-fans...

Unless you've a strange affection for Teddy Ruxpin.

I was beginning to wonder if I'd erred in dragging myself in, but...

IMG_20231117_0727072.thumb.jpg.3fd3ff9b98ea374c0eaa0eb02c8a9d02.jpg

...the market provides.

Market Blokey dumped out a small box in my general direction, with apologies that there isn't a lot here this week.

He does still have a load of diecast in storage - but there's so much other stuff on top of it that he can't get to it.

A small selection but still...

IMG_20231117_0728572.thumb.jpg.605d24bb4e315d575f07470d292251f7.jpg

Corgi Routemaster was a bit tired and with some bits rattling round the interior, but pretty much complete bar a jewelled headlight.

IMG_20231117_0729022.thumb.jpg.d0cb339adfb2339ea05327884803fe96.jpg

Dinky Somerset wearing quite a few layers of paint, but otherwise alright in terms of the body casting and base.

IMG_20231117_0729082.thumb.jpg.3342ac5f48fba2a1ab0e530971d5052c.jpg

Corgi racers also a bit down-at-heel - Cooper Maserati had been got at with the Humbrols, and I might have gone for it only I think I already have one in a different colour.

IMG_20231117_0729302.thumb.jpg.c1593a075cd41920d1d8bc2bfa29c88d.jpg

Superkings Hovercraft was pretty clean; King Size Dodge horse trailer missing a tyre or two but otherwise ok.

IMG_20231117_0729212.thumb.jpg.4ccb3743ef7035350ad39160b71f50e4.jpg

This was interesting...

IMG_20231117_0730342.thumb.jpg.2ad8e5a840f4d22deb9c8ea539da03cf.jpg

Didn't know Dinky had produced bigger commercials as part of their Dublo range.

IMG_20231117_0730402.thumb.jpg.c8a8225e4a59776c0ff0cf476f3acc45.jpg

Pity this AEC tanker has been given an extended tour of the paintbox also, plus the wheels are a bit chewed.

IMG_20231117_0730562.thumb.jpg.da201778d5c2e8936e2567076932b22c.jpg

Brace of Corgi JPS racers in so-so condition.

IMG_20231117_0731102.thumb.jpg.2c732d983806505ef00ba7f97bd62eec.jpg

Likewise, a not-quite matching set of Yesteryear Fowler Showman's Engines.

IMG_20231117_0730222.thumb.jpg.d0ae3584d20f4d1e587cb24466a2aa9b.jpg

And some contractually obligated MoYs, missing seats in the case of the Rolls-Royce.

Falling into the 'delightfully batshit' category...

IMG_20231117_0735032.thumb.jpg.410f4f30938def90d7662edc6507cfb9.jpg

Yup, a Lesney 'Zoomy Balloonies' from the early '70s.

I think the idea was that you blew up a balloon, jammed it over the inlet on top, and it rocketed around the floor scaring pets and children alike.

IMG_20231117_0735122.thumb.jpg.8d7588eaa315072b4fbd34f281e4a379.jpg

Axles a bit wonk, sadly.

IMG_20231117_0735392.thumb.jpg.2fb1c9313f43c810d933a57cb2ffbcf1.jpg

Still - bit of a rare survivor.

FIAT 850?

Yup, Fiat 850.

If only someone on here collected Mercury models - but since nobody does, especially not @barrett, you can imagine how foolish I felt buying it anyway...

Not much else on the stall this morning to pique my interest - though you too could be quaffing your Watney's Red Barrel in style with these delightful* veteran-print tankards...

IMG_20231117_0738402.thumb.jpg.e9d247d15c3e06f3ef6087fcac610347.jpg

Or why not create sectarian tensions down on the farm, with these Britains-scale white metal Orangemen?

IMG_20231117_0738512.thumb.jpg.83668edc9d59e2c3adcd3cd0f5e5831b.jpg

Colin's stall of Irish Tat had not much new in today...

IMG_20231117_0821092.thumb.jpg.b62460b512fb1e230b80cc530cfd1cf3.jpg

Some recently acquired, and apparently unopened/ unwrapped, DeAgostini-Norev French Dinky repros were up for grabs at a tenner a pop though:

IMG_20231117_0819592.thumb.jpg.7c9ba6c8fc97a0965940820732a2f4f7.jpg

But otherwise, pickings were slim.

IMG_20231117_0820082.thumb.jpg.c39c3561bd11b18c404114c032cfe115.jpg

The Charity Stall, despite good times last week, had nothing at all with wheels today.

Alan's Emporium was open, but...

IMG_20231117_0826202.thumb.jpg.98f72c73eaf42ee78304e95485f760de.jpg

Huh.

Is it... art?

Well, coffee and breakfast procured, anyway

Time to see what's what.

If the Somerset and the Plymouth woodie are going to be cheap enough...

Posted

So - gotta run, I'm afraid, and I don't think I'll get back again today. But the Corgi Mrs Peelmobile with rather squishy tyres and the Dinky Spitfire are up for grabs, for the fiver each paid...

IMG_20231117_0758392.thumb.jpg.7cc5af9bd96e19db7b124ec8bc599c8a.jpg

IMG_20231117_0759372.thumb.jpg.e09e1d0a074279c2d4aff79380f5de32.jpg

Few chips, but otherwise complete.

IMG_20231117_0758492.thumb.jpg.bcd81537dada53e56921b41d7c7b1bfc.jpg

Missing windscreen here, and the seatbelt plainly failed to keep the driver secured...

IMG_20231117_0758542.thumb.jpg.89c12e0f51bb26e3a82b11a2caca9fdf.jpg

IMG_20231117_0759282.thumb.jpg.118c07bb69bb34cb17bdb22b26ec6852.jpg

Fiat is also available for £5 - thought I'd give Barrett first dibs, then F4A's thrown his hat into the ring, so I daresay it'll be rehomed shortly!

IMG_20231117_0758322.thumb.jpg.a970646be500bdce89774e3023100cbc.jpg

And on that note - I have to dash over to Screwfix, so I'll wish you all a very Happy Friday, in case I don't get a chance later on.

Keep on tattin', kids.

Thanks Tim, but they're some distance from my threshold.  I'll pass.

They may drop to two-for-a-fiver if they're still there in subsequent weeks, and he wants them gone - new stock like this is generally a bit dearer.

By his own admission, he's no real interest in diecast and doesn't know much about them - as evidenced by only charging me £5 for the Mercury Fiat 850...

Ah dammit, that 850 is wonderful, Id love that. That has to be the find of the year! Can I call 3rd dibs behind Barrett and flat4alfa please.

Posted

If it's the same one, I remember my brother having that teddy when we were kids, you put a cassette in the back and it would talk.

Well yes, there's literally no way I'm going to turn that 850 down is there?? I can't believe weeks of half-assed joking about finding rare Italian diecast at the tat market has finally paid off!

In fact, ym last missive form Mr Cog:

Quote

Here's hoping there's a stack of Mebetoys or Mercury models to be found in forthcoming weeks...

If you do happen to find your way back, I’d give that Somerset a home. It’s about the only one of my Dad’s old Dinkys that I haven’t got, he reckons it went misssing about 55 years ago, I barely remember it as I’d have been 5.  I do have a  dodgy cousin from Derry that grew up to be involved in VAT fraud, I wonder, it does look as if somebody has tried to change its identity…

Posted

I don't think I'll be back over today, but I'll keep an eye out for that Somerset next week!

IMG_20231117_0729462.thumb.jpg.36248dd7313e90664b44b837ad3f4e2b.jpg

Definitely some dodgy dealings afoot, by the sounds of things... If only they could talk, eh?

Nipped in The Entertainer, no joy in there, supposedly Friday is Matchbox delivery day but there’s still all the 70th Anniversary crap on the pegs. These don’t seem popular at all! Next batch must be due soon surely!

Just been in mine, they have a delivery but it's a bit manic and they're still going through it
