If you don't mind waiting a bit I'll swap a Bedford tractor unit for the Ford H with the wrong wheels.

It is in bits and has the mirrors missing and also has an M6 bolt as a hitch, works fine though.

I did ruminate over the 500 but decided that it wasn't quite in keeping with my other Bburagos and Polistils. Of course that was the wrong decision and I'd have one now!

I was lucky enough to go to Spain quite a few times when I was a kid, so as well as the usual Matchbox and Corgi, I also had a decent amount of Mira, Joal, Pilen and Guisval stuff. As @Split_Pin remarked, the Spanish stuff really appealed to me also, because like Majorette, they mainly concentrated on basic, everyday subjects. Even back then, that was where my automotive tastes were.

I only owned one Nacoral though, a 1/25 MK1 Capri, found in a tiny gift shop in Paguera, a small resort down the road from Palma Nova. It was exactly the same as this, down to the colour,

42174385.webp.ebdaf6b5e7a17aaef18d281f3519e9cc.webp

Yeah, it looks bloody awful nowadays, but to 8 year old me, it was the bollocks. I particularly liked the 2600GT badges cast into the wings and the 'I can't believe they're not Rostyle' wheels. That holiday to Majorca also netted me the key-car version of the Mira Mk2 Granada

and the Auto-Pilen Seat 124 coupé.

Happy days...

Though unfortunately, that's as far as it may go this Friday.

See, there's a pallet delivery occurring today, containing most of a bathroom. Courier job.

All we'd been told at the point of ordering is that it'd be delivered between 8am and 6pm today.

Usually with stuff like this we then get a follow-up email from the courier to narrow down the delivery slot timings, but this hasn't happened.

You can, of course, well imagine that if I'd chosen to be over at the market at 8am, that's exactly when the courier would show up.

Given that I haven't, sod's law dictates that it won't now turn up until the end of the day.

I'd been hoping that an early delivery would still give me time to make it over to the market this morning, but that hope is now rapidly fading.

Frustrating.

It’s never first drop on site when you want it, but if you desperately needed a lie in they’d have been banging on the door at 07:30!

Absolutely... I'd hoped to be skipping through the market doors at about half past eight, since the last two deliveries have both shown up earlier than indicated - generally the door being rapped just as I'm pulling my trousers on.

Still no sign of the delivery.

I could definitely have been there and back by now, including a leisurely coffee and scone.

Heard a diesel engine pulling up outside about half an hour ago, and thought maybe this was it - but no, it was just a Transit belonging to a gardener.

It's now blocking the road in front of my place, plus I've been listening to a chainsaw revving its tits off since half nine.

Fun times.

For the flower, Loti from the Latin.

However, Lotus Cars in a press release in 1969 stated the plural of Lotus is in fact… Lotus.  Just Lotus.  As in “look at all those Lotus”

In the absence of a Tat-Friday, here’s a few arrivals from @Datsuncog from a previous instalment.

IMG_2458.thumb.jpeg.466ba32bcf8e0059a3f8731038a1b4a9.jpeg

IMG_2459.thumb.jpeg.0db189a86ca0c33d379ccb66d04c42f5.jpeg

Both absolutely lovely!
The Transit is ‘just’ a Corgi jobbie, nothing particularly special, but it’s in great condition and replaces a long lost and heavily played with one I had as a kid, so nice to have one again!

The Torino is the star though! Absolutely brilliant looking plastic model from Funmate. Never heard of the make before and never seen one of these plastic Torino’s either so nice weird one to have. How it’s lasted without shattering into pieces or other damage I don’t know as it doesn’t exactly feel all that robust to me! Certainly something that’d be among the first casualties in a kids toy box put it that way.

Thanks @Datsuncog great item as ever!👍

From the interwebs

The Plural of Lotus
The plural of "lotus" is "lotuses" or "loti."
Lotuses are found in white and pink colors and they grow in shallow and murky waters.
Lotuses are symbols of purity and enlightenment.
The noun "lotus" has a Latin root, which is the derivation of the plural "loti." Through common usage, "lotuses" (which adheres to the standard rules for forming plurals) has become the more common plural.

Also from the interwebs

Lotus's (formerly known as Lotus Supercenter, Tesco Lotus Supercenter and Tesco Lotus) is a retail chain in Thailand founded and operated by Charoen Pokphand (CP) Group, with operations in Malaysia following the acquisition of Tesco Malaysia in 2020.

These are the early cars that had a pointy launcher thing to get your eye out and hence the disclaimer sticker on my example.  Later cars had a ramp launcher with base adapted with a slot
