Majorette Capri looks tidy though!

It's not bad, guy had loads of stuff but his prices were a bit high. Offset by several 10p purchases though.

Most pleased with the three promotional Matchbox including the "Alpha" Romeo. Anyone know why and when they were issued?

Which is better, Spark or Vanguards.

The 4,000,000th Mini...

VA13505_1.jpg

a Glacier White 1275GT, has been modelled by both Spark and Vanguards in the last 10 years or so.

The Spark version came out first in 2012. It was cast in resin and retailed for around £40-£50.

DSCF9008.thumb.JPG.842b70e126b1b9ec776aa3db1ba5e51d.JPG

It was quite a good model but had many mistakes. The front bumper was a bit thick, it was on 10" Rostyles, had the usual Spark over curved radiator grille and had a wrongly coloured interior. They did get the roof banner mounting right though. At the time Spark were the only manufacturer with a Square fronted Mini in production.

A couple of years later Vanguards brought out their version of the 1275GT, and in 2015, the 6th version of the casting was the 4,000,000th Mini. The retail was £24.99 I think, and I orderd mine direct from the Corgi website.

DSCF6720.thumb.JPG.91c769b2e169ad70a260708b89689f04.JPG

Vanguards did their homework with this model and did a better job than Spark. They tried to replicate the Denovo wheels of the original, they got the interior colour correct, and matched the side stripes aswell. My main gripe is the grille looks to deep making the front even squarer than it should be.

DSCF6721.thumb.JPG.fabb5822e4ac92cb7a9930c63914c94b.JPG

AT the rear they even put a correct black and red rear badge on, even if the rear lights look a bit more flush than they should be. A minus point is the roof banner detail being all white.

Today the Vanguards can be found on Ebay at £35-£50. If you can find a Spark one then judging by the prices for other Spark 1275GT models, sellers will probably be asking near to £100.

Looks like a PlayArt Mercedes T2 ambulance, @bunglebus? Would be interesting to compare to the Corgi Juniors version you've picked up.

Correct, good eye! That was the other thing I bought from the Capri seller

If you're keen on it at about £21 and willing to wait until early 2024 for delivery, I'm happy to buy for you.

I could send over my Sunbeam at the same time, if you'd be willing to sell on my behalf again?!

Cheers Jon, yeah, wouldn't mind the Nova at that price, but there would also be a few quid in it for you if you were to buy and flip it. Happy to punt the RB Sunbeam on for you too, recent sold ones of those on eBay have been going for about £45-£50 so should do well for you next year!

The DanSale Ford LTS along with the generic Super Kings trailer being given the ratty Bungleification would be GR9

Oooh, I'd rather like the M5 and 500E from that selection.

BUT: What the bloody hell is with that artwork? The E39's wheelarches are enormous and look utterly ridiculous.

Grotesque overwheeling is one thing that really spoils Hotwheels for me.

Trip into the town proved worthwhile today. (Not often you can say that about our town centre!)

As usual, Entertainer was a waste of time. Hot Wheels case G aplenty. But then I headed to Toytown, a shop I keep forgetting about, even though I've had a couple of good scores from there, notably a load of recent Majorette premiums I got last year for £1.99 each.

First I found this Moving Parts Rangie, down to 3 quid,

IMG_20230624_224545.thumb.jpg.b11c05a64992d4f046599142949cac59.jpg

IMG_20230624_224838.thumb.jpg.a327918e045c916556fd09d760c46856.jpg

Some lovely detail on this one,

IMG_20230624_224721.thumb.jpg.82d2925eddeb93d1bd0f22b167d2cef5.jpg

And then some Matchbox mainlines that I've not seen in any shop, anywhere. I have the Scooby SVX in white and red but I've never even seen a preview of this grey version,

Bit of a mixture on the pegs, as they also had a couple of the beige Lexus LSs, a couple of Amis and the inevitable Speed Trapper...

Across the way was Poundland so had a quick scout round the tiny toy section and actually found a few  recent Hot Wheels,

One for the Spelling/Punctuation thread there.

I have always wanted one of those Zagato Alfas, but as they have never been less than £20,000, it was never going to happen.

But I have had a few white metal ones over the years from SMTS.

Here are some of today's finds.

This guy was selling a load of his childhood cars, there were lots of Convoys but I try to resist them as I don't really find commercial vehicles exciting. I did buy all of these containers to sell on as they're the kind of thing that goes missing, and the wrong trailer for the blue cab I bought recently

I do like Lucky Toys - big 'old Bimmer is missing a roof light but why would it need one to go Canoeing? Who did they copy this from, Majorette?

Just going back to the number plates discussion, Cavalier has GSI 2000 which I suppose translates to European markets better than a UK plate.

I'd be interested to work out when the practice of casting in a registration started and finished, I know we tracked it back to the 60s the other week.

928 has MHH 30V and Merc 300E has D54 CDG, 911 is S-AN 161 so they chose a German reg for that

Majorette and Siku both put markings on too, MK1 Golf is LS-HT76, Majorette Jag XJ6 is 721 JT 06 I think

One for the Spelling/Punctuation thread there.

I have always wanted one of those Zagato Alfas, but as they have never been less than £20,000, it was never going to happen.

But I have had a few white metal ones over the years from SMTS.

That's not a part work. That's a Novoexport diecast from one of the many factories in the USSR.

It's quite endearingly crap. There's no way the bonnet can open with the grille in place - it all comes apart easily and the components feel fragile - yet not have broken.

Those Russian diecasts are quite sturdy and heavily cast. One of the best I've seen is the Lada Riva model. It has working suspension with live axles and coil springs just like the real thing.
