Struggling on this tin plate one

Some kind of Japanese number. I think I found twp on Vectis, but the pics and description do not give a definitive id.

1st on on the left, could it be the Marusan 13cm Police Car

Quote

Japanese and Chinese Tinplate Police Cars and Commercials - to include 27cm battery operated Highway Patrol Toronado with steerable front wheels, 1950's Japanese tinplate "Travelling Library", Ichiko 21cm Chevrolet Police Car, Marusan 13cm Police Car and a clockwork diesel Railcar 14cm, a Nikko battery operated Porsche Racer and a large Chinese 22cm Pick-up Truck - Good to Excellent. 2nd from right, could it be the M Toys Police Car 5"/13cm?

I also turned this up on Alan's table - not that old, but in good nick nonetheless.

I'd thought this silver example was from a gift set, but going by the wiki page it seems this was from the 2018 Road Trip range - the printed number plate is a giveaway.

I'd owned one of these in a sort of minty green a few years ago, but then sold it on without ever even opening it.

I've form for that.

And finally - finally - this:

Hoo boy.

Yes - the big  1/43 scale Oxford Diecast Disco 1.

It's pricey, but oh it's nice.

Really good detail inside and out. I like this. I'm not sure I can honestly justify it, especially after buying the small version a few weeks ago but... I'm an impetuous fool.

And that's it!

Heatwaves and forum crashes notwithstanding, Tat Friday always gets through.

Well, most of the time.

That Disco looked odd to me, as I thought it should have Land Rover written across the bonnet. But then I found out I was wrong.

@Datsuncog if that chrome Duple Metsec Trident is there next time could you grab it for me? These early Metsecs never came with mirrors, only the last 4 releases did and a boxed one of these is quite pricey these days.

The Oxford Diecast 00 Gauge Leyland (?) Transporter in Rover/ Land Rover livery.

1647502283_IMG_20230616_1529032.thumb.jpg.ca7594e861fd5dd650abb4d6e6de423c.jpg

Yes, Leyland grille / badge

It's a 1949 Leyland Beaver.  Nice Beaver.

It was a real thing

5053856161_7e10eb1b09_z-1.jpg?ssl=1

IT STILL IS a real thing.  Well, a replica anyhow

22512954829_b5349af570_o.jpg?resize=600,

The model, in 1:76 scale, could come in this set, which is sought after now as Oxford sold out of the lot for £50 each

52895-1.jpg

You can still buy it standalone, for £13, but they do want another £5 for postage

76LTR001_521x267.jpg?v=1633263578

The trailer, standalone, for an additional £13.  It seems they do not sell as a matched pair after all (currently)

76LTR001T_521x245.jpg?v=1633263576

The Land Rovers (there were 8 in the set) at £9 each

76lan188003_90a058ff-691d-4f52-a44e-ca87

There are also these alternative liveries if you are so inclined

76LTR003_500x260.jpg?v=163326961376LTR004_500x273.jpg?v=163326780076LTR002_500x238.jpg?v=1633264095

But I won't be doing that with it.  It will sit holding some Benbros, Morestone and Dublo, to consolidate* some shelf space.  That is the plan.  If the trailer turns up next week, then the Marx or Lone Star TUF-TOTS might be able to tag along too.

So, secured for a fun-filled £4 at a CogExpedition™, superb result.  Thank you!

I did a buy...

MB 1979 Chevy Nova, from Poundland.  Haven't seen this one before so I kind of had to.

And then today Pat brings a box...

...from @bunglebus :)

Can't have too many emergency vehicles!  Interesting to have what seems to be a cheapened version of the Omega casting; the front doors don't open like they do on my others.  And since there's a civvy in the third pic, let's have some more...

100_0220.thumb.JPG.3772c3ba8966038b5c2c110943f1e22b.JPG

Couple of repainted Corgis.  Both look much nicer in the metal than I expected.  They may possibly never get painted again.  Thank you kind sir!

Speaking of painting...

Two Corgi Juniors Rover SD1s, obviously, in colours that Corgi didn't issue.  Why?

Well not just because these are fair representations of actual period Rover colours.  These are now in my Film/TV sub-collection because both were used by Leslie Grantham as Dirty Den in Eastenders.  He began the show in 1985 with the brown one, which was a 1978 on the S, and in 86 the producers gave him a lovely brand-new pale blue one and Den sold the brown one to Ali from the cafe across the road, so that he could use it as a minicab.  Yeah, a V8 Rover, in London.  Those were the days!

It's the early type with the grey tyres fitted, and isn't in bad shape.

It seems green cab was second release.  Not sure green goes well with the eye-searing orange.  Have another cab here quite tatty, perhaps could test the water by trialing an ORANGE CAB REPAINT, to sprain the eyes AND fix the OCD.  Win-win.

First release blue cab 1964-66

Last release all yellow 1968-70 and Gift Set 2 again

That Atlas Aston shows what a name can do to the price of a model when new.

Here is the Atlas Mini Cooper S MkIII.

DSCF2953.thumb.JPG.533782fe0b4a44ac56acebb502a94bf4.JPG

Not a bad looking model in Bronze Yellow

DSCF2954.thumb.JPG.3b1217464b2ae0c79ea076888cb04848.JPG

Detail round the front and rear screen is a bit heavy and the rear lights are slightly large.

DSCF2955.thumb.JPG.0108549fcf743481c7c077ed0533eb35.JPG

But the shape and proportions are quite good.

DSCF2956.thumb.JPG.94390517852d42c13253788a9641ee34.JPG

I forget the original retail price on the Atlas, but it was no where near the £30 that the Norev version was.

DSCF0037.thumb.JPG.e37b52e2b4917ab4ac20055d848805e1.JPG

Their version was Teal Blue, but as I am a Mini collector and the Mk3 is rarely modelled I had to have it.

DSCF0038.thumb.JPG.f501b92afdba8cf25dd902b5ad7a1605.JPG

One glaring fault on both examples is the left hand petrol cap, neither has one, and the standard Mk3 Mini only had a cap on the left, so someone messed up.

And here's where the extra money went, on a nice Perspex box and outer card sleeve.

But then I just noticed that one of my original MiniLites is a different casting. Look at the centre of the rear wheel, it is flat. This wheel was on the front in my original picture. It was moved to the rear when I took all the wheels of and then just stuck the back on in a different order. I guess this is one for @bunglebus and his casting fetish.

Glad to help and it looks much better with all correct wheels, but very strange about the different casting. I checked my childhood Mini Marcos and they are all the same (flat centre). However I did spot these Sting Ray wheels on ebay...

VetWheel.thumb.jpg.4d2c7f89cc1acd29812e5d647459454d.jpg

and yes I have checked my Sting Ray too and all wheels the same (concave centre).

Forgive me congregation, for I have sinned.

I went to the Flywheel event at Bicester today and not only forgot cash, but also my wallet, so I couldn’t get any!

The auto jumble was a very mixed bag. Some professional sellers, selling IMHO overpriced nonsense. Some of the Oxford stuff that could can buy from their website for £25, was going for £35+. Even the loose box with heavily used stuff was £2.50!

however, on some of the not so dedicated stalls, there were some fine finds. Some older matchbox and hot wheels stuff for £1,50. One stall had an almost entire box of 80s matchbox stuff, still in their packaging for £10, which whilst is a bit more than some pay, they were NOS with Woolies price tags on! Another had a huge box with some good specimens for 50p and boxed 1:43s for a couple of quid.

Sadly, since moving, it’s now a long way and they only do it once a year. I will try harder in the future.
