On the road, 80 miles from home. Found a shop. Fell to the ground in shock.

Snagged myself a few Matchbox car’s recently too,
Must say, I’ve never seen the Ford Thunderbird turbo coupe model before, very nice too! The green/grey one changes colour in hot water.

Would @NorfolkNWeigh be up for a 50% mark-up on the Rockets Capri while it's still warm?  Asking for a friend

Sorry mate, it’s going to be painted white like the one I had when I was 8, I peeled the stickers off my James Bond one, even at that age I was devaluing cars.  I’ve only got one other Rocket , a P1800, but have an excuse now to start looking for track and jumps and loops and…

Oooh a Super Booster, me and my brother fucked ours up using it a missile launcher .

I got a parcel this morning. Nothing strange about that at the moment really, but,

Looks like someone was very desperate (and creative!) making the box and the packing!

This thing is huge and very heavy too. They definitely don’t make em like they used to.
Been after one of these for a while, now I have one it’s definitely one of my favourites! Well chuffed!

I remember getting one of those while on holiday in the 60s. I played with it on the beach everyday for a week filled up with sand like a proper tipper. I seem to recall the cab getting broken off at some stage .

This one’s my first one of these. Over half a century after it was made!

Im going to take it out in the garden in a min with my Corgi Euclid bulldozer and Superkings JCB excavator for some play time!
Dan - aged 38!🤣

Actually no. No I’m not. It’s far too nice to be played with!

Nice Ixo MK2 Golf.

Lots of magazine partworks in there, 9N Polo (in her hand) and a MK4 Golf too. All £5 each 5 for £20. Mrs BB made a purchase though...

Mrs BB pulled another 1:28 scale Kinsmart Lupo out of one of those market boxes

Here's that 50p Hong Kong Matchbox from the charity shop

I bought this out of that set at Sainsbury's - but it wasn't easy. It wasn't recognised at the till and they absolutely refused to sell it to me. Tried at customer service, even showing them the item and code on their own website but they were having none of it and sent someone to take the others off the shelf. Finally one of them agreed to let me "buy" a 9 pack that's the same price but take the Starlet - but not to tell anyone...

Aye, that Polo looked nice, been after a nice Mk4 Golf model too for a while, as an example of 'cars wot I have owned'. Only good ones Ive seen though are the Minichamps ones with the expected joke price tags. I may be spending an inordinate amount on eBay soon, as there is now a Czech partwork series out, covering classic Skodas (obviously), and one of the series is a Mk1 Octavia VRS, a model of which I've been wishing for for years, as I've also had a real one of those, one of my favourite cars I've owned.

I found a spare Jimmy Seville for @flat4alfatoday and the gold Corvette if anyone's in need?

Boot sale thread is about to be updated too...

Hooray! Tesco had a fresh stock of (older) Matchbox in, and at £2 a throw.

Boo! Still not one bastarding Capri to be found. I don't think they ever see the pegs...

Nothing else there I don't already have, but came away with this. Not sure if I already have it, but it'll do to open and do a bit of detailing on. Loads of Merc 123 wagons, Ford customs, modern Ford cop cars and Buick Skylarks if anyone's desperate. I can nip down tomorrow.

Do you want a blue one?

Also the wheels on the MGB are great with a bit of detailing

I have a "WANT".....

terrahawks+hudson.jpg

It's "Hudson," the futuristic Rolls Royce from the Gerry Anderson TV series Terrahawks.  The model shown is about Matchbox size, made in plastic.  My sister's husband is a sci-fi buff (they came together 30+ years ago over Blake's 7, of all things!) and this is one he doesn't have.  I have one!  But of course it's part of my Film/TV sub-collection, so he can't have it.  She and I have now trawled two toy fairs together and completely failed to find one.  So, any of you guys got one you don't want?  Or more importantly, don't want much for?

I got this Maverick not to customize but Matchboxize! No that's not a word.

Out came Aldis own Dremel and removed the stupid arches, bonnet scoops, chin and rear spoiler. Swapped the wheels for Matchbox steels.

I was in two minds about the wing mirrors, but I slipped with the Dremel so off they came.

And hot off the radiator with Christmas sale 15p rattle can paint from Poundland.

Thats a fantastic job.

I'm not sure who wants one of these customised in a 2023 drift style. Why do HW do all their retro cars like this? Surely it would be much more saleable as standard like this one or customised 70s style?

HFM?????????

Hudson has been on my search list for over two years and nothing ever appears at even the (inflated) price point I’d even go to when pished

It’s only a piece of shoddy plastic after all.  Tell him he’d be better off making one out of mache

Great change, great effort!

Matchbox-ize is also now a word

or perhaps better as Matchboxise

Matchbise?

Where do you end up?

That's brilliant, Ive always had a thought that one of these would make a good 2 door MK3 Cortina with a bit of modification and I'm definitely getting MK3 vibes from that.
