I thought the wheelbases looked quite different but then realised the Dinky base is elevated!

Yes I took the photo at a funny angle as the light wasn't very good.

Got this bigger version of the ERTL A-Team van today, with pull-back motor

So I dug out its companions in 1:64 - ERTL and Kidco

Now the ‘bitsa’ transporter is one again!

I may try giving the green a rub with some spirits to see if it’ll come off and leave the original blue behind. If not it’s repaint time.

Apparently it was the Corgi Gift Set #1, for 1957 with the Bedford S-Series tractor and was Corgi’s biggest revenue earner of the year

Corgi-Carrimore-pic-1-of-11-1958-Catalogue-1101-scaled.thumb.jpg.f8ce61f7cb8a2bd896259cd613929637.jpg

The artistic licence in the catalogue is superb!  The Bedford has been on the pies.

Good writeup on this model: https://www.maronline.org.uk/corgi-carrimore-car-transporters-1101-1105-bedford-cabs/

I reckon it deserves a repaint!   And getting its original release load back on:  #201 Austin Cambridge, #208 Jaguar 2.4 Litre, #300 Austin Healey and #302 MGA - which I'm pretty sure you have examples of, from the window sill display photoshoots

There have been 1:43 Neo Models, Leo Models and Kess which are £100+ pricing and recent.  But none in-period by Polistil, Bburago or Mebetoys, which is surprising.  Probably leave that expertise to someone else like @barrettI think though.  So will just leave the current ~£60 Minichamps example here:

It's an odd one innit, considering those other period makes all did other Maseratis. The only contemporaneous Maser saloon was the Politoys QP complete with chunky door frames which I image I'll probably own some day...

dae-95001161.jpg

Or the utterly charmless late Mattell-era Mebetoys Biturbo which I definitely will not

s-l1600.jpg

I reckon the QPIII is one of the best-looking saloons ever, certainly on the era, and if I was rich enough to afford the running and maintenance costs I'd absolutely have one. The same can be said for the QPIV actually, although that seems like a slightly more realistic proposition

There was another wild Baracus Party here this afternoon too, where a tiny ERTL joined with a Kidco, clambering all over the bigger Corgi effort

WP_20230116_16_42_52_Rich.thumb.jpg.32af1ec4bb671975d8933efede920fb6.jpg

Then Ken turned-up uninvited in the chunky Majorette 'Limousine', to put a stop to the plan that came together.

I think it would be possible to buy a different Corgi Buick at every fair and never get a repeat, I remember Ratdat having assembled a large collection of them.

Saw this and went off to see but did not find a RatDat post - must have been lost in a purge?  Never mind, Corgi's 1975 Buick (Century) Regals have been discussed plenty before in this thread.  Also found a photo on the t'interweb that might help with the original Mettoy-era ones I remember at least:

564f4ccee17eafff278eb7539547ca1d.thumb.jpg.e67cd261990d2a1a5a7baa6e98322f74.jpg

Not sure how some of you manage though, when it comes to collecting variations.  I had to realise the hard way that something had to give?!  The collection was becoming a burden with no room left and money becoming shorter.  Wife also feeling the strain of being surrounded by obsession.  So I decided to avoid slope-slipping, keep to one example of a model.  I saw it start to work, repeatedly telling myself 'the Vans' were enough... 🙂

Example: the first Corgi Buick Regal Juniors release for 1977.  I told myself it was not required any longer...

50416892521_c5a5228be0_o.jpg.b9fe60366aa56e241af1ad7de8570304.jpg

...because I have owned the big 1:36 one for years and will keep it.  Hooray!

IMG_0106.JPG.247f3ac4624e2e8d82be694817d9b16d.thumb.jpg.fe17c3c49a813c7f74efa87f5fe1af37.jpg

Didn't really need the others either, so moved them on, just keeping back the UAE Police شُرْ طَة‎ (šurṭa) Juniors (might never see another) and the City of Metropolis 'Superman' tie-in Juniors ...well it was in better condition than the 1:36 Metropolis.  Helped also by knowing there was also another in 1:36 that was stripped bare in a box for a future idea (e.g. make into the unreleased large scale yellow Taxi version, or perhaps THE CLEEMPUT PROTOTYPE ?).  That was the thinking.

WP_20230116_18_11_29_Rich.thumb.jpg.81bfa6195383b559f62f3e3238970977.jpg

So did I get some space back?  Well, the biggest Buick Regal from Corgi was got hold of.  Something only ever seen from a catalogue photo when a child.  Result: increased space achievement failed.

WP_20230116_18_13_15_Rich.thumb.jpg.447b25e8a3b3475788ea7500546230df.jpg

But why, you say?  Because it does this:

I realised I am 'such a child'.  But I felt better.  Relaxed.  Calmed.  😆

So, all in a row:  Corgi's Buick Regals in 1:21, 1:37 and 1:72 scales (I measured).   Ta-da!  Collection complete!

WP_20230116_18_15_06_Rich.thumb.jpg.34ea06901cd5474a2e159d087c4bb261.jpg

Then I found this photo today, the last of the line, using tooling carried on by Mattel as a Hot Wheels for 1997

Quick question for those in the know!

Is the Dinky Wayne school bus rare? I’ve just scored one, not too bad condition, but it just occurred to me that you don’t seem to see very many around. Or I don’t anyway! Did it not sell well?

Americans chase them.  Not so much here

I love vintage A Team stuff. Spotted this Kidco Burnin' Key van on Muppetplace earlier. Top dollar I'd have thought.

Well folks, I'm off down a rabbit hole again. Posted that Sunnyside Rover 3500 Dinky copy on FB and someone came up with this

FB_IMG_1673909290064.thumb.jpg.51c59880ba7c9cf80d56030b3087478d.jpg

As well as some others in the same Midnight branded boxes

FB_IMG_1673910100749.thumb.jpg.5fc4c1b1dcafe4e4e5ec7255b0885e2f.jpg

That another one I've had (the Panda looks familiar too - Bburago?)

2023-01-16_11-10-17.thumb.jpg.13df3f722a331f9c78036d8817ded8da.jpg

And this

FB_IMG_1673910290214.thumb.jpg.85f4e87df7365335fe42a2f00593f33a.jpg

That's the Alme Golf I showed earlier...

2023-01-16_11-06-36.thumb.jpg.ad72d5a45eaa936d79d977550fd86ce6.jpg

...along with the BMW 633. Might explain why they usually have no make on the base

2023-01-16_10-52-44.thumb.jpg.55c0ed180eb037504a1a69e0422005bf.jpg

So of course off I went searching for Midnight, and found they often have the brand Zodiac on them

Screenshot_20230116-230439_eBay.thumb.jpg.bfa33858fcdbd5c65fcad954418c599e.jpg

Think this '57 is an MC Toys which is also sold as a Zee (or the other way around)

Screenshot_20230116-230252_eBay.thumb.jpg.2f315825a26be8c28f0ca3b2a82c0660.jpg

Here's mine

2023-01-16_11-16-53.thumb.jpg.6cb59e336f93a3da18db958eaa31c723.jpg

Not sure on the T-bird, might be Zee again

Screenshot_20230116-230235_eBay.thumb.jpg.a9b3bf9222420ac3a129bb65e9cff391.jpg

some others on the back of a box containing what's 100% a Zee pickup - recognise any?

Screenshot_20230116-230213_eBay.thumb.jpg.0434b34b9d58ed9139ab0484aaf4f783.jpg

So yeah. More weirdos for me to hunt down, I have read the SS-909 Rover also came as a rally car - the search continues!

Just had a quick look - they're not cheap are they! Hope you got a bargain

Yeah I got mine last year with key for a under a fiver bundled with the Ferrari GTS and key

Can't knock a tryer though.  Their curtains are nicer than mine and need paying for.

So Superior, Zee, MC, Alme and Sze all sold under the umbrella of Zodiac. Very interesting

It's probably more likely that the distributors for the Western market ordered in bulk and had them put into their own English language packaging

On their own no! The one I got was part of a small job lot, which also contained a few others I was after. Win win!

This lot?

The one on the right looks interesting.  It's a Dinky Meccano France factory issue for 1950:  29E Autocar Isobloc

I think I’ve or maybe a dozen Buick Regals, I think they just went with whatever was available paint wise. I’ll check out in the Corgi book what it says as that goes right up to 1997

I did a post a while back wittering on about base variations, there are different numbers of rivets, disappearing Corgi branding, slots for the sidepipes fitted to the Track Car version etc. Then different wheels on top of colours. It could be into three figures easily
