I wouldn't

I mean, sometimes in life you can have way too many things, so much so that the upload button almost breaks the site.

Which is why they should be dished-out on a forum such as this 😁

I need to rein in buying diecast and I have told myself that if anything I need to thin things out in 2023. So, obviously the first thing I did was search for Dinky Pontiac Parisienne on ebay.  Mint examples like yours certainly seem a bit special.

This is a beautiful model. I have the RCMP version with Malcolm the mountie at the wheel.

danthecapriman there are some lovely models in your haul - I clocked a couple of corgi senators - you dont see these that often.

What's this fella then?  I assumed Gran Fury but guess I'm probably miles out.

@danthecaprimanI kind of lost track of what was being sold here and what was being kept, but if sold here and cheapish I'd be interested in some replacements for cars I ruined or lost as a kid;

Corgi Cortina Mk1 Estate in blue

Corgi Jag Mk10 in blue pref

Corgi Ford Classic in cream with pink roof

Corgi Hillman Imp in bronze

Corgi MGB GT in red

Ford Zephyr Estate in white

Corgi Mini manifique in blue

and any tatty Marina, I remeber buying the Graham Hill Cortina instead (I still have that)

Quite happy if you decide to keep all of them, it's just seeing these made me decide I would like some replacements even though I have no need for them and no where to display them!

And don't tell Mrs Concern please...

Dodge Monaco that is. Keep them, I love going in the attic and getting something out I haven’t seen for ages.

Matchbox kingsize Dodge van. There’s a few variations, the rock n roll version isn’t one I’ve seen until I got this one.

Does it have the colourful interior, that one?

Matchbox also did a casting variation of the van, making it a reference to a customised Dodge Sportsman - complete with the extra windows in the side doors, a roof skylight and porthole windows each side.  It had side exhaust pipes too, for burning your bare feet on, when camping at Canvey

But check out what this fella has also done: padded walls, a double bed, a TV on one side for watching Debbie Does Romford....

...and on the other side: bottles of Babysham and Blue Nun on a sideboard 'bar' for a cosy night in.

I think @bunglebus has a version of this one with a girly bed spread fitted.

I have now been thinking about toy cars I had in the 1960s and no longer have and remember some really nice Matchbox size and they all had  opening boot, bonnet and doors. I can't remember what they all were, but I think one was a Fiat 2300s in metalic green. They came from Sugar Puffs cereal where you collected vouchers on the packets to get the cars.

We never had Sugar Puffs as they were too expensive but a lovely old boy who lived adjacent to our bungalow gave me the vouchers. He had a pristine black Wolesley 1500 and I loved seeing it for two reasons

1 The badge on the front would light up

2 He was so short he looked under the steering wheel!

Anyway does anyone have any idea what I did with them what they might have been?

Edit; I think I've found waht the Fiat was https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144709305100?hash=item21b158c30c:g:gUwAAOSwhsBjGgQx&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4FRrkdLe%2FcAfRgFC%2FR4hgnDbSLRr%2FvSMA0mphokjeQdyeMmvsHX2AjzKLGF0MaOf0RD1VMHJvlBXdHL5ym3x4AFewNh9InFC2aZUdyVLswsNrzi98RVtMY2isq5ZhJn5Ugts4xBpHWMPbtspCcjISn5MLKG9X39wVywBuK0soeyu94ASrEAOSe6oHaJ8oLmGcgd2o4nri7F1QA8QsWHHuSBWRElwDEVJQ7Q9X40bR4Zg%2FfdSbhjoK2xuStwOIbJHMjxrOTvLmM48x4GFBsos0PfumZyjqfbwsTt75J4tKIPD|tkp%3ABk9SR6LNxKCtYQ

Edit again; I've now looked at ebay more and the cars I remember having were the Fiat above, a red Ford Corsair, a red/orange Taunus and a Rolls Royce Corniche...

Amazing this internet thing haha

PS I'm still hoping I have a box of toys in the loft somewhere with all the missing cars in!

I had the beige trailer for the Dodge as well. One of my favourites from that time period was the Mercedes Log Transporter, managed to finally get one last year.

That’s the one!

Funnily enough, that very one is on my watch-and-ponder list

I’ve only the early light green one (with steering) and have been considering replacing it with the darker green stripey one just this week!

Haha, I remember them being really good models especially having all opening parts.

I'll have to scour the loft before I buy one on ebay so your bid will be safe from me (for now!)

On the subject of those Lone Star 1:60-ish

As you can see from photo I am after a bonnet for the Zephyr Estate.  Does anyone have something in a rough condition that could donor?  Just wondered.

Good news on the Rolls Royce is model-supplies.co.uk have recently added the windscreen to the spares list.  Hooray!

Likewise, does anyone has a spare Lotus Europa with the opening doors, unlike this later cheapskate Impy effort with the sealed doors?

Good point. well made.

Just taken it apart to have a look.  A bit of flat plasticard and a fiddle with some steel wire might have to do.

IMG_20221231_223503_1.thumb.jpg.bc1022d49aedd8c57867d528594dedd5.jpg

Could paint it matt back too, for that period GT look.  'Ford Zodiac GT Estate, by Abbott'.   There's a thing.

That's only if my old eyes can hold focus for long enough

I'll say it again, they are lovely things, the mad colour interiors just add to the appeal to me.

I don't remember ever seeing one as a kid, it was all Matchbox Superfast and a few Hot Wheels, with the occasional ERTL Dodge Charger in the mix.

It's a shame as they really made the effort with opening everything

I think the Corsair was the first one I got my hands on

I don't remember them at all, and I'm a child of the early seventies.  It was all Matchbox with Husky/Corgi Juniors.  Guisval and Majorette were a decadence, only seen on holiday 'abroad'.  Hot Wheels were known about, but very rarely seen.  It seems a shame as Lone Star made a real effort.

Gave it all a scrub and put it back together for now.   Because the Graham Norton show has been that interesting.

I had a good few Lone Stars, having been born in 1959; I also had several Spot-Ons.  Both makers offered some lovely models, but almost all of mine that were left, got moved on in my big Diecast Sale a couple of years ago now.  It's got to be something really special if I'm going to take on such small scale now as my eyes won't cope.

Dan's picked up some beauties hasn't he!  That's the kind of collection we all dream of finding (don't bother denying it!).

Just spent the afternoon going through boxes of the old toy cars I mentioned before.
Anything anyone can tell me about any of them (rarity/value etc etc) much appreciated! I don’t really know that much about the collectible side of things, I just love them for what they are!

Most are Dinky and Corgi toys, but there’s also Lesney/Matchbox and a few others too.

The Oldsmobile Toronado is a Corgi golden jacks jobby. Still works too.
Brinks truck still has the two boxes of US treasury gold bullion in the back too.

The bronze corgi MK3 cortina  is probably £30ish  unboxed without Graham hill figure.

When you guys split the bases from the shell, it’s riveted on isn’t it? How do you do it? And how do you reattach it afterwards?

Drill the heads off. Then the base plate comes away.

You can use screws but I have used araldite - you can make it look like a rivet head.
