I’ve just bagged a couple of Corgi Ford Sierra’s off eBay, the larger model not the juniors. They’re the made in GB version and one is still boxed. But the box has ‘Ford’ branding and info etc about the Sierra, not a normal Corgi box.

Where the early ones part of some sort of Ford promotional thing for the new Sierra?

I have noticed the wheels on the original GB made ones are unique but were ditched on later models for the standard Corgi wheel.

I had a pale metallic blue Corgi one in a Ford branded box that was a giveaway from the local Ford Dealership at the launch of the Sierra.

Quite a nice thing if i recall.

Some early ones have the four spoke ‘revolution’ type wheels you got on Capri Lasers. My later ones have the standard wheels fitted to pretty much all late 80’s Corgis.

The fun thing about the Corgi 1:36 Sierra Ghia is that the front doors clearly depict manual window winders, so the model must have been prototyped from an assortment of Sierras or before spec was finalised. I'd love to find one with the full-on SIERRA box like Spottedlaurel's... that would pretty much complete my Sierra collection.

So nostalgia, idle thumbs, eBay, rum and this bloody thread conspired against me 😉

Incoming Corgi....

Along with Honda & BL, the blue oval choose Corgi for some new model launches with the Escort III - project codename Erika - and the Cortina replacing Sierra - project codename Toni.

Both accurately modelled with opening doors and detailed interiors (with moving seat backs too) additionally an opening tailgate and even more impressively matching aero wheel trims on the Sierra.

Note the model insignia on the tailgates:

Each baseplate is very accurately detained, the Sierra being plastic the Escort metal. Note the Sierra gets the exact badging moulded in the floorpan.

But there was another reason these two appealed - the Ford packaging - I have never seen the Escort one before - anyone else? The Escort is 70’s corgi size, and is the model is  loose - no plastic wheel tabs under the cardboard line the Sierra.

I have a few of those Escorts but I picked another up a few months ago at a Swapmeet, it’s missing the front bumper/grill. I don’t know why I bought it, I think I felt sorry for it, still not sure what to do with it.

Yep. Had all the goodies from the get go.

That's a late 1980s colour issue and you are right, those wheels didn't come out until around 1986/7.

Judging by the fact that the seller has other cars for sale, I'd say the car pictured is a cuckoo.

Hmm, not sure if this was a bust or not tbh!
A few decent ones but most are pretty rough. If you want anything let me know which.

Best ones first.

Fairly big Saico Minor, nice looking car but missing the grill and bumpers.

I had a quick look up in the toy room for Sierras and these are the ones I currently have out. Sorry for the dust.

Early yellow similar to what has already been discussed:

20221221_141937.thumb.jpg.7557642ca62ef2716fb35b2fff99059e.jpg

I missed out on this one as a kid as my one packet a day limit of Wm Low's own brand squarely counted me out for this promotional one:

20221221_142040.thumb.jpg.8dc1948bdfef72c376b1ddeb576bb19f.jpg

I think I got this from a shiter, I really like this sort of thing.

I recall being really excited when I got this SuperKings in 1989 as the plate was F335MHH which was the current mark at the time. I must have swapped it at some point which I regretted. When this came up on a Facebook group some years ago I jumped on it as it was really cheap. I got it as part of a job lot for about £7 or so.

20221221_142120.thumb.jpg.60778ce013d64cc31d30b4e33e14901a.jpg

I bought this Wiking 1:87 scale example in 1996 whilst I was wandering around town waiting for a hospital appointment.

What sort of prices are we talking?

Might be interested in a Marina... 🤣

Here's my Marina Coupe.

I bought it from a swapmeet in about 1990 with no windscreen, lights and a cracked pillar.

I restored* it in 1994 using Ford Sunburst Red. The lights are made of plasticard painstakingly filed into a tiny circle and not great but the repairs to the pillar and windscreen replacement are not bad.

I'd be interested in the Marina Coupe if the things that were missing on mine are there as I could effect a better restoration on it than the above.

Make me an offer! I’ve no idea what to ask for any of that tbh.
None of it is really the sort of thing I want to keep but if it’s any good to anyone hit me with an offer. They’re all probably worth very little!

I had the red and blue one when they were new. From memory I think they cost about 35p at the time.

The roof is correct, but they all came with two red surf boards that slide in.

Your blue one has the earliest type one piece Whizzwheels with the eight circles. These were soon replaced by the ones that look like Rostyle Wheels.

You've got some pretty early Lesney stuff there, that yellow Caddy is of interest to me - you've also got one of the rarer colours of the green Kennel Truck, worth having to me even without the grille

Also interested in the (plastic?) blue and red truck, the red Summer Nissan, black DeTomaso Pantera and possibly the red supercar behind that blue and red truck - what is that?

Found them with both - I thought the teledial ones were later though, seem to recall someone on here saying the MK3 Cortina police car with them was hard to find too
