And this magnificent feat of engineering - I never thought anyone would be brave enough to attempt a modern transporter in OO scale!

You need to get them bushes trimmed down, they'll be knackering your foundations.

Any interest in this calvacade of shite? A 1/24 Polistil Ford Capri, chipped paint but would restore really well as the glazing and wheels are excellent. A Burago Fiat Ritmo and a surprisingly decent nick Dinky TR7. £10 posted?

Unbuilt vintage kits are valuable collectors' items and reissues don't affect their values much.

Reissues are for builders, not collectors. Builders are generally unwilling to pay collector prices, so there are two completely different facets to the kit hobby.

I'll probably get one, I've been looking for a 1:24 van for ages to turn into a beavertail for a little project.

It was either one of these (I heard they were going to be reissued) or a metal Crafter and a cutting disc....

That seller has promised a 20th September delivery on a kit that's not released until October though - not the brightest star in the sky.

You did notice it's the SWB van?  I'd expect to be making up a longer chassis for beavertail use.  OTOH it does come with a correct bulkhead, so cutting it down to a single-cab won't be difficult.

As a project to build (one day) I’m tempted as well. If I had the weathering and scratchbuilding skills I could turn it into a replica of the manky old Mk2 Dormobile I saw festering away on a farm this morning.

With values, the risk could be OSF types buying the re-issues then trying to flog on them on for more.

Collectors aren't necessarily idiots.

Superb detailing all round. Beautifully done engine bay and the interior is something else - it even has the "keycode" graphic on the radio.

Gah, I've noticed that CK have been selling that Kaiser for £hardly any, yet I've still not pulled the trigger. I just didn't think the livery would sit well in my collection. I wonder if it would disappear with a little gentle solvent abuse?

If any of you ESCI Transit hacksawers want to get rid of the rear half, I might* be interested in your cutoffs for a LWB project.

I deliberately chose the Thrillcade version. Non liveried versions in various colours are also available for small change from various vendors (mine came from Model Car World in Germany).

However, those tampo prints are removable, best with acetone free nail polish remover. You need to polish and wax the model afterwards, though.

Being that, I believe, that Minichamps Cosworth uses the same (or a slightly modified version of) the mould that UT used, I must find a pair of headlamps with which to upgrade my UT version.

Other than that, and the fixed front side windows, the two models seem virtually identical.

I have a couple of the Esci Paris Dakar transits that I got on Ebay from America in 2002. From what I can remember at the time they weren't expensive, I assumed (rightly or wrongly) that there was no interest in them in that part of the world...

I built one out the box in olympic blue. The other I was going to make a recovery truck but never did anything in the end. I used to get 'Truck Model World' at the time and there was an article about a resin and plastruct kit from America. It was a rollback flatbed designed for 'dually' pick-up trucks. I remember there being a buying webpage for it with paypal, but I never pushed the button...

If you are into truck modelling you should peruse the gallery of Kit Form Services. http://www.kitformservices.com/ It's run by Howard Whitehead an expert modelmaker who contributed many articles and features to TMW...

I used to buy resin parts, such as RHD dashboard conversions from them and I bought a couple of cab transkits as well. A Volvo F88 that I still haven't done anything with and Scania P series flat roof day cab which I started to build into a rigid car transporter using an Italeri kit. Unfinished unfortunately, due to life.
