Care package arrived from @bunglebus, with things I haven't been able to find for myself. One of the MR2s has gone to Miss SL's BF, as he has a Mk2 and is building up a bit of a HW/MBX/Majorette collection of his own.

Popped into PoundStretcher and got another one from the Mountain Drifters range, to go with the Celica I got last weekend:

Had a quick look in the local Aldi yesterday, nothing there. Will try and look at others on my travels, got a trip out on Tuesday PM....

Also managed to find a bit of time to move this 1:24 project on:

Can't remember if I've shown it here before, but it's an Accord Wagon on NSX underpinnings to make it mid-engined. Like a grown-up version of the Renault 5/Clio.

Paint is BMW Boston Green from Halfords. Wheels and seats are aftermarket items, rear vents are from a Monogram Chevy Citation (really), the rest is just merging parts from the two kits. Floorpan had to be trimmed on the sides and lengthened, but the track seems about right and so far it seems to be going well. It's due to be finished by early December for a community build on a modelling forum. All the major stuff is done, it's now mainly detailing and final assembly.

A bit more detail on what I picked up at the toy fair, I didn’t go mad this time!

First I had been bidding on a Dinky Chinese eye Rolls and got out bid pretty quickly so when I saw this I wanted it..

IMG_7974.thumb.JPG.7bab4d61b3d098d65c67415e46c30cc6.JPG

£10 though..

Knocked down to a more reasonable £8, only when I got home I noticed the missing (indicator?) light. Never mind still pleased with it.

Next two from before I was born both £3, a heavily play worn Corgi Bedford CA AA van & a nicely repainted MGA. I may paint the roof black again on the Bedford, not sure. I Know the MGAs are cheap, but I couldn’t do such a good job at only £3.

IMG_7975.thumb.JPG.648e1aeb77e6109264a800a7c3206c8e.JPG

The Marinas at £3 each wasn’t bad, I have a nice yellow/green one already, but was silly money, £20 I think so happy with these.

IMG_7976.thumb.JPG.270a60141a691f50e65ea00ef8b4b370.JPG

Dinky DB6, I have been outbid on several of these recently so went for this with missing rear wheels and a seat back and light jewels as well as broken front bumper for £3, especially as I got a set of the correct wheels and tyres plus the Corgi boat trailer for £3 as well. Anyone know how to get the Dinky wheels off of the axle?

IMG_7977.thumb.JPG.64188329ceb31c4dae58ee0f0c357c8b.JPG

I’ve fancied a Corgi Mack truck for a while, but not found one cheap until this one for £4 including the Carrimore Transporter. I have several Corgi Trailers this could be paired with. It has been re painted and has the air intake and part of the exhaust stack missing, but the bonnet (hood?) release opens with a twang!

IMG_7978.thumb.JPG.3534bde5b9c53537df9f1eac91f53551.JPG

Most interesting was this lovely little Alfa Spider

IMG_7979.thumb.JPG.f583e51fe1b0e413c81528e2e4a77408.JPG

Missing screen and steering wheel

IMG_7980.thumb.JPG.8f617b07f8c1bb1ab851dd12e2ac8c3a.JPG

But opening bonnet, boot & doors

IMG_7981.thumb.JPG.c62fbee11d7af2a679162a24140d288e.JPG

Don’t know what the scale is, but it is tiny compared to some other sports cars

IMG_7982.thumb.JPG.aae4ff6b2fab49dc5e10f28d6f89b28d.JPG

It’s an Impy, but bigger than the Impy/Lone Stars I had as a kid, but still tiny if you see what I mean!

I paid £2, but when i washed it all the layers of sticker showing £6, £4, & £3 came off haha

Nor did I, needlessly* spend 90 minutes swopping cars between two cabinets and a stack of open shelves.  So now my Film/TV cars have a little more space around them, as do my Personal collection.  My repainted American cars are a bit squashed-together, but considering they were previously in the roomiest cabinet, that isn't much of a surprise.  I might have to do some more yet, because I think I'd like a bit more space for my ambulances now...

This week some more Lone Star models appeared after a Post Lady visit.  Yes, she is still around and as friendly as ever.

One is the seemingly uncommon Alfa Romeo [Giulietta] Spider.  Uncommon, in that it still has all its opening things and it does retain both its headlamp jewels, being an early Impy with the steering chassis.  Pleasingly, the paint is reasonably unscathed.  Steering wheel has escaped, have a similar Lone Star donor.  Will need to do something about fabricating/donating a screen though, as I hoped (assumed!) it was the same as fitted to the Rolls Royce that Steve Flowers recently introduced and the eBay trigger finger was applied.  Never mind, it was bid to just £4, a surprise!

WP_20230105_22_16_37_Rich.thumb.jpg.4577e2613250550b93b599c343f12e85.jpg

Also separately was the Jaguar MK X, a Flyers range car with the wheels I prefer.  It has more chipping, but also complete with all its opening things and nothing missing.  It is also much nicer than either the Matchbox or Husky offerings.  Even better than that it was BIN £1.99 !

WP_20230105_22_18_55_Rich.thumb.jpg.8ba486f266864f47c73eadde6daa907e.jpg

Scaling is a bit off though.  The Jaguar states 1:64 scale, but measures to 1:67.  The Alfa just states 'scale model' and measures to approx 1:51, so perhaps it was intended for the larger Roadmasters range rather than Impy?  Perhaps they worried the American market would find it too weedy.

WP_20230105_22_18_21_Rich.thumb.jpg.834fa0981c4a436f8ebd9a82ebba6237.jpg

Tiny Tom wonders why I am buying Lone Star examples when I told myself I would clear out the small cars and concentrate on 1:48, or not at all.  I blame you lot.

^^ Lone Star Alfa Romeo got scale measured here

Paragraph 4

measures to approx 1:51, so perhaps it was intended for the larger Roadmasters range rather than Impy?

I don't remember ever having the site hut with the regular wheels truck I had as a kid, maybe it came to me from a jumble sale or hand-me-down? It still made for a useful little flatbed however, should still be in a box somewhere.

Do have a MIB Superfast version complete with hut, probably purchased back in the '90s when no one was very interested in them. I think that even has an elastic band still with it (which hopefully hasn't caused some unpleasant reaction with the plastic).

Posted

Don’t think I’ve ever had one with the hut, always seem to be missing. See also, skip trucks! Loads of them around but almost always missing the skip. It’s taken me ages to find the skips for some of the older ones.

Yours hasn't got it, but the first version of the Larry's Towing truck (Ramblin' Wrecker) had Larry Wood's actual phone number on it - and loads of people called him! It used to be where the blue bit is above "Larry's"
