Well there was no tat for me this Friday but a nip to Aldi and a rummage though the quite large amount of Hotwheels resulted in this. 20230728_165931.thumb.jpg.fd013bde236e79a04d387db6d6117251.jpg

No GTV or Sierra action though.

A pair of Corgi Stingrays.

Not quite minty, but not too bad either, really.

Flip-up lights still functional.

And two different types of wheel!

A great slice of Americana for £10 the pair.

Will pop those in with your others as well.

Thank you so much for securing the two Vettes, I’ve been wanting a silver one to go with the red Danbox one  and also keen to do custom colour one.

I’d like to cash in my Cogbox now before it gets too big to post if you don’t mind, but no rush. I can’t really remember what is in it so it would be good if you’d send me the bill without listing the contents so I can have the fun of opening it like a Christmas stocking!

Also I’d be keen to keep a new box going if you’re willing, just in case.

Edit lucky I didn't decide to buy this job lot on ebay!

An unplanned visit to our local M&S (of all places) unexpectedly netted this:

I experienced that rush you get when something you’re looking for is staring you in the face 😀

Not a bother - PM incoming!

It warms the cockles of my cold, blackened heart whenever I manage to swing a good deal for you fine folks on here - £10 for the two Stingrays is way better than £39.99!

Crikey, I'd no idea M&S were stocking Mattel products these days.

I remember seeing some Cararama stuff in there about twenty years ago, but it's been a diecast wasteland ever since.

Nicely found!!

Good news, Aldi Glastonbury have Hot Wheels - as reported elsewhere, a small box at each till. Thankfully at 21:30 there's no-one else in there.

Didn't find anything new of course

Make sure to check the aisles of useful Shite, as mine has a basket full as well as the till boxes.

Been interesting to read the comments about the British Bus and find out that it was a thing. Detail shots of my chance purchase before it spends the next week+ at the bottom of a suitcase:

The scale of 1/125 isn't too offensive to me, it's one I occasionally use for work when a big building won't fit onto an A0/A1 sheet.

I suppose the plastic top deck is a bit of a negative when compared to the Matchbox equivalent, but it counters with glazing throughout.

Didn't want to raise anyone's expectations this morning only to cruelly dash them, so decided not start with the Tree of Tat this a.m.

But I did take a casual, 50-mile-round-trip back down to the Abbey Car Boot Sale.

As you do.

Since the weather forecast was looking fairly tolerable for this morning - though not the afternoon - it seems that a few folks felt induced to risk it.

65092190_IMG_20230729_0927202.thumb.jpg.5255d659ee8e7f5bb3eaa5498de6a32c.jpg

This is more like what I remember.

1338496353_IMG_20230729_0937472.thumb.jpg.4b72360e7d5a95185f1c0a63d4392db1.jpg

The house clearance lad was back with his luton-bodied Renault Master - though no diecast to be seen today.

He did have this box of what appeared to be Aurora AFX (?) slot-car shite, though.

749785995_IMG_20230729_0938162.thumb.jpg.f43a3e0368bb2300712910d150e36b4f.jpg

However, he wanted £50 for it, and wasn't interested in selling the cars separately.

692310550_IMG_20230729_0929482.thumb.jpg.99d0d21fea69d9e70d76d2fca51259f5.jpg

I'm quite sure I had a few of those racers in the dim and distant past - three sprung pickups on the base, quite fiddly.

This sort of thing always gives me pause, on self-styled collectables stalls:

249990559_IMG_20230729_0947172.thumb.jpg.f5baf64df80edd45d05491034f7f7429.jpg

Does the vendor reckon this original Corgi Beatles Yellow Submarine (missing all its plastic parts and with the mechanisms jammed, but not that bad in terms of paint and decals) is only worth as much as some playworn Shell promo Maistos - or does he reckon the Maistos and Corgi Cameos are worth as much as a reasonably uncommon '60s release pop culture toy?

I think we probably know the answer.

The affable Geordie who runs the militaria stall was back - the one I'd bought the Matchbox Dinkys off, a fortnight ago.

1775613661_IMG_20230729_0939362.thumb.jpg.a1372e6b1bf35b53c2a1a1fa2d65a93c.jpg

He had more diecast.

1713145908_IMG_20230729_0939512.thumb.jpg.dea780229524931f67179bc6313c0c6d.jpg

I had one of these Brumm Old Fire patent coaches before; I actually quite liked it.

The stallholder was one of those oul lads who can't not be talking, so as I methodically sifted through the UV-split boxes of the '80s Corgi Classics and MoYs, he was at my elbow proffering aircraft and other CCs, all with a non-stop patter about how much these sell for on eBay, and how much cheaper his are.

I was, however, quite excited to uncover this box down at the bottom.

69446178_IMG_20230729_0954032.thumb.jpg.15d6185e0ddd5f38fc8da22b846b2e07.jpg

Could it be... an Opel Rekord? A Kadett? A Golf?

1375346317_IMG_20230729_0954222.thumb.jpg.cf9c7c3c0c1b7e2d63da9d1d299b31b5.jpg

Ehhh... well in fairness, that's not a bad 1302 Beetle.

Just not quite my bag - though I ended up buying it anyway, as I quite fancied the MB Dinky Corvette and he was willing to do them both for a tenner...

705371864_IMG_20230729_0954452.thumb.jpg.3c9da941d03f6011a811b4707e4439ee.jpg

So, if anyone wants a mint and boxed Gama Beetle for £5, hit me up!

And, with an air of inevitability, I ended up down at the seafront to, take the air and enjoy the fine vistas...

But we all know what I'm here for...

That’s all TCR Total Control Racing (by Ideal) and would be well worth it - if it hadn’t been left for years in a damp shed

There are (were) two sets there?  The pick up is ‘Jam Car’ that goes around by itself as an obstacle, and one of the GP cars would take that role too.

What's the history of that place? Looks to have been a stunning building at one point. What a complete waste.

Edit: Are they flattening the lot? Madness.

That yellow submarine is probably one of the many reissues that Corgi have done in the last 20 years. I think they have done about 5 reissues of it celebrating various Beatle anniversaries.

And talking of Beetles, that Gamma is a good find.

The pick up has narrow wheels so is possibly a jam car - the idea is that it slows the pack and you have to overtake - like the "blockers" that used to stop the cops when moonshine was being run.

I still have my TCR at my parents - two panteras like the one in the photo and a lancia stratos. I remember we also got a couple of Z28 camaros years later.

I miss the sparks and the smell of burning. And rubbing the pick up shoes to keep them clean.
