were you aware of this one @bunglebus?

Oh yes I have one of those

and its yellow brother

I think the only one I don't have is the orange BLOCK PAVING version, and some of the Playart versions in different colours

Nimbo cumulus?

Ah well.

That's a cracking Japanese acer, I have always been envious of the one my parents have in their garden. I have tried to grow them in the past but to no avail.

So they’ve gone with that have they?  A play on a late-70s Leyland works scheme…

…but mating it to a fantasy US/JP van style… limiting the collector appeal?  Could have better used the existing Transit casting then really, as they already used the fantasy van for the Metro 6R4 pack

Also I expected the Rover to have been release in the scheme of the other Works Rover P6, which was better known for this scheme and should sell well down-under

Maybe next time!

Yes I wish they wouldn't use fictitious subjects for the transporters on these sets, it really spoils it. The van above is so very nearly a phase 1 Ford Econoline, why not just get the license and do it right. At nearly 20 quid for the set you'd expect it. The P6 is just great though.

Glad I’m not the only one!

Since when did LANCIA use Hino ZM Series?   Just daft

Unexpected find in Smyths just now, new Demo Destruction 5 pack including two more of the "crushed" castings. Really pleased to find these as now I can repaint and patinate them

The Camaro is Kidco, has a hole in the back... car launcher maybe? The Dome only has Dome underneath.

Okay then... Friday beckons!

After a three-week hiatus while Market Blokey was away sunning himself, I wasn't sure what to expect upon striding purposefully through the market doors this morning...

873748284_IMG_20230602_0745512.thumb.jpg.62fbcca34327ecaeb8e368356923d3c8.jpg

But as it turned out, all was well in Tatland.

Tat was tatting, giffers were giffering.

Before we all get too overly excited and lose the run of ourselves, it's maybe worth mentioning that today's stall was mostly the same stuff as we had nearly a month ago, back on 5th May.

Though that's not to say there was nothing worth having...

110960509_IMG_20230602_0758452.thumb.jpg.d020bffacea48571c758a81365da2ec3.jpg

Lots of smallish tat, although not much genuinely old stuff.

574313039_IMG_20230602_0758512.thumb.jpg.64aa7ee08248aa95df48765e84339742.jpg

1/18 and 1/43, plus 00 gauge commercials.

1365301351_IMG_20230602_0758552.thumb.jpg.f5bf68f122d90e5073305dfd83b1bb1a.jpg

TK Maxx dustcatcher-grade tinplate T1 Samba to slice your finger on, if you like.

Trainshite was in evidence.

2029980409_IMG_20230602_0747132.thumb.jpg.60d67f0336fbef387aa5108fe5e0e48c.jpg

Also some big Corgi Classics Chipperfields and Showmen's stuff, at £20 a go.

1062824142_IMG_20230602_0748272.thumb.jpg.d349b7cb45d109152c86bb56a42de904.jpg

Boxed Maisto Beetle also at £20.

2005113224_IMG_20230602_0747052.thumb.jpg.94ee8c821a16f63f0309e26151a2aa9b.jpg

Massive Matchbox Chevrolet Suburban is one I've only seen in books before - quite nicely detailed. £10 on it.

1545315357_IMG_20230602_0755082.thumb.jpg.76220a97dd613b48d260c6639b723fab.jpg

Boxed models were some Chinese make which my tired old eyes couldn't decipher at this hour of the morning - began with S, but not Sunstar or anything like that. Blue Chevrolet van towards the front seemed to be by ERTL.

1049622591_IMG_20230602_0743552.thumb.jpg.a1352af17e33775e9fedbec589c04940.jpg

More americana by makers unknown.

302520438_IMG_20230602_0754342.thumb.jpg.606b73602279f4d723bc1300c9a9455c.jpg

Corgi Lotus Elite was dusty but tidy.

395343574_IMG_20230602_1234232.thumb.jpg.c222b34d5b7260bc8dac88271e39db0c.jpg

No JPS lettering, marking this out as a later example.

The lack of Corgi branding, after the base tooling was used with blanks for a run of Marks & Spencer exclusive toys, also dates it.

950580216_IMG_20230602_1234352.thumb.jpg.ac852f65808a4456a467b0b7db901afe.jpg

JPS Lotus F1 cars were also available in both kiddy-friendly and fag-happy liveries:

874691273_IMG_20230602_1234122.thumb.jpg.542dba89dbe9b2f5790ca0b93dd8f3ed.jpg

The two late-70s/early 80s (?) F1 cars were by Polistil.

1788615639_IMG_20230602_1234512.thumb.jpg.a91a87e9e7054230db05f39f3d81ab15.jpg

We've seen these Hongwell soft-roaders before... pity the X5 and RX300 are both missing a roof rail.

1138210124_IMG_20230602_0754382.thumb.jpg.1519442cb5443fd5846d386ee289fcaa.jpg

Slightly messy Lesney Scammell heavy wrecker was pretty much the oldest diecast item to be found on the stall today.

2028041455_IMG_20230602_0754412.thumb.jpg.2b62fdbc0a29b1604d4d2475a11e8ca6.jpg

Assorted trucks, but mostly modern-ish stuff.

682606150_IMG_20230602_0755052.thumb.jpg.16ea097fa3a8f814cdc283bfdfb4ea7b.jpg

Some more of those 1990s release posh Matchbox Convoys, though - Kenworth and Peterbilt conventionals, in Corona and Pabst Blue Ribbon liveries respectively.

2075998016_IMG_20230602_0754582.thumb.jpg.a4e5a6ccf395827e1d61ab4933fdcf55.jpg

Solido Land Rover SIII wagon still here, though tragically missing its rear door.

421130895_IMG_20230602_0754532.thumb.jpg.4c7209913670c75ae6f52ba284f397d4.jpg

Scammell Handyman Shell Tanker now missing its tractor unit!

Dear oh dear.

Escort Cosworth and Focus rallymobiles were fairly detailed, but I couldn't see a maker's mark anywhere on them.

New Ray MGF and B; plus various racers from various eras.

1594879888_IMG_20230602_0754452.thumb.jpg.c50e5d244dab56aeb3aaed0902be443e.jpg

Some bigger F1 stuff at the back, too.

38330012_IMG_20230602_0754482.thumb.jpg.f9140feecdce8c7c7c3de9488670813f.jpg

Unimog was quite nice, though seemed an odd scale - bit less than 1/43, it appeared.

2052852275_IMG_20230602_0756242.thumb.jpg.1e235e29724b11aca5fd522d36485a29.jpg

But plenty of dust.

More racer stuff. Focus is by Bburago; Vectra by Onyx. Not sure about the others, mind.

1131506077_IMG_20230602_0757202.thumb.jpg.89f0a8111548dbce8a307f0328616bfa.jpg

Minichamps Scorpio estate just chillin' there with the fast bois.

1360217100_IMG_20230602_0757142.thumb.jpg.0e9aa973a196052a0db1b826d03ed2e1.jpg

Seemed to be a fiver each on the loose smaller stuff.

Plus there was some Ladybird bookshite to be found elsewhere on the stall...

510677429_IMG_20230602_0804352.thumb.jpg.c97683042d031ac215ab56a556ff5248.jpg

If you can bear the annoying cartoon child, that is.

And other publications, indicating that weirdo collectors are nothing new...

1398177210_IMG_20230602_0744302.thumb.jpg.297aebbd653ba573eaa2199b536b1cfd.jpg

Now I'm not quite sure how my day's gonna pan out yet, BUT I'm in Belfast all day today and if I can, I'll try to get back over at lunchtime. So, if there's anything you're mad keen on, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

But there were other stalls too...

I'm interested in thr 1/18 Audi TT and Scorpio estate if they aren't ridiculously priced.

Likely to be £5 on the Scorpio, and £10 on the TT if that seems like not too much of an ask?

Could be Superior!

The logo was tiny, and in stylised handwriting - seemed to have a letter with a lower loop towards the middle, so Superior would fit the bill.

Will check it over for you! Certainly no point picking up broken rubbish - I could see that it was missing a door mirror, and the aerial was slightly crooked, but seemed otherwise reasonable enough.

I tried cutting the tyre but because they're a very tight fit, the open ends would never have met without some serious clamping, not possible with the wheel partially tucked under.

Now then, I started to gently bend the base up just ahead of the axle and discovered that the body is what holds each end of the axle in and it just slid out! Dinky had obviously foreseen this and designed the toy so you only needed to bend the base up just enough to clear the axle, before the whole lot slides out.

The base therefore easily pushed back and now it looks great.

So, a spin round the other stalls proved reasonably rewarding...

The Charity Stall had some New Stuff, which was also Old.

1990693704_IMG_20230602_0808132.thumb.jpg.e6368ea72221661cc546709fef14d8a2.jpg

Sadly not of the 50p variety.

Buddy L 'Dixie Hauler' was superficially a bit down-at-heel, but might clean up ok.

422170873_IMG_20230602_0809222.thumb.jpg.762e90e9884077b367aa79803df6191e.jpg

Rusty, but not quite rotten.

600032491_IMG_20230602_0812522.thumb.jpg.75978f57571e13b9d498a61379ea482f.jpg

Price unknown, but likely somewhere in the £5-10 ballpark.

Corgi 'Kojak' Buick Regal was a little bit shabby, with damaged glazing...

1889185144_IMG_20230602_0809282.thumb.jpg.e4ce80140bbd4b2c9b93c6150db6a8e1.jpg

...and an amputee Crocker, who's apparently just learned exactly why you shouldn't lean out of moving vehicles.

1341498954_IMG_20230602_0809342.thumb.jpg.12677fea249a645273ffeac75901bb29.jpg

Ouch, that's gotta smart.

Other than a very shabby Lesney King Size Dodge horse trailer, a fantasy Superkings fire engine and two 1980s Superking trailers, this early SD1 in police colours was the extent of the older stuff - and really the only one that was Worth Having.

1937314920_IMG_20230602_0810562.thumb.jpg.5b79e19ed6b6be0583f839f61838009e.jpg

So I nabbed this one for myself, for £5 - but I'm not sure if it's better or not than my existing, later version of the peelermobile SD1.

I'll give it a good clean later and compare them - but be advised, one of them will be available!

This monster of a thing was also on the Charity Stall - huge, heavy and seemingly more cast-iron than diecast.

1524030648_IMG_20230602_0809242.thumb.jpg.750cf3d135c3691ea4255a58986db017.jpg

It also had a sort of Rolamatics style set up, where a cranked axle lifted 'flames' from the header pipes when in motion, while the driver joggled a bit.

175240633_IMG_20230602_0812132.thumb.jpg.73d18ec7e9bf77820362bcac821cbf78.jpg

The 'Hubley' name was dimly familiar - and a quick online search indicates that this is a 1990s replica of a much older toy.

Even so, it seems I could have doubled the asking price of £20 if I cared to flip it online - though I wouldn't much fancy posting the bugger, I have to say.

A quick turn past the Irish Gifts stall revealed two new Oxford 1/76 castings - a Disco 1 and Disco 2

1865325770_IMG_20230602_0816312.thumb.jpg.563f03ee00ad37472200a635062acd49.jpg

Very nicely rendered, though the price is creeping upwards...

Annoyingly, Colin on the stall did get the 1/43 version of the Disco 1 in Foxfire Red - but didn't bring it in to St George's as he didn't think it'd sell.

Bah.

Two of The Giffers unexpectedly had some Them's Rare Them's Dinkys on their stalls...

1795161937_IMG_20230602_1244102.thumb.jpg.714069977ea25290dbddf2c1a809d945.jpg

String Labels Of Doom advised £15 each on the cars and Trojan van, but £30 on the fire engine.

Whilst the tatty Atlantean and end-of-the-line Speedwheels Land Rover wrecker were unpriced.

1605483885_IMG_20230602_0745012.thumb.jpg.af414ea3e251cf576dacb10ff714867c.jpg

I daresay whatever he's looking for them, they're not worth it.

And finally, Alan's Emporium had the 50p Tray out - the last bastion of cheapo toy grabbing to be found today.

1896139039_IMG_20230602_0822012.thumb.jpg.4bfa6f2354a26fa4202ebfa44870fe2f.jpg

Not that there was much worth having, to be fair.

I'd hoped that there could be some decent Majorette action happening for @Spottedlaurel - but this damaged E36 looked a bit too shabby.

486439613_IMG_20230602_0821552.thumb.jpg.b6344f3a14c69de41492f05b2d0ad092.jpg

But I will continue my search, never fear!

Meanwhile, one of the Chinesium no-names alongside was losing at the game of 'how little metal can you put in a toy car and still call it a metal toy?'

896057382_IMG_20230602_0822542.thumb.jpg.4a0133e0cbb5afbefbf0a707f17e2de7.jpg

Ah well.

And at this point - with a few notes scrawled on a piece of paper - I believe it's time for Round 2...
