I'd love to track 😉 one of those down

There's a few on the ebay, but anything complete is pricey.

I haven't done a resto in, say 18 months or more. This 2002 Thomas Truck was part of a @Datsuncogparcel, and thought I'd get my eye in on this. Yes the number plate re-lettering was ill advised.

I’ve got one of the Corgi Jag mk2’s. Found it in a box with a load of junk, I remember being pretty pleased to find it!
can’t remember which box it’s in now though as I can’t remember how complete it is. Everything is getting packed up for moving.
Another nice casting, but a shame it wasn’t issued as a standard road car.

That kind of looks like one of those tiny little trucks the Navy used around dockyards and stuff! I can’t remember what they were called though. They were all dark blue from memory with tiny little wheels.

A few pages back @Datsuncog posted a Hot Wheels Celica with a silly chin spoiler and wheels.

Looked like this

Hot Wheels Hotwheels Hot Wheels J-Imports '70 Toyota Celica Fiyatı

Here's one I Matchboxed earlier.

I am going to put the smaller sized MB steel wheels when I come a cross some spares.

Back from getting sunburnt in Yarmouth.  Various partworks rescued from a box full of all sorts for a whole pound each on request

20230529_183520.thumb.jpg.ed90541c1fe8bfcfffdb05bc2fa94110.jpg

Discovered these Majorette Tune Ups in one of the arcades where we were staying, managed to acquire a few partly due to an error in my favour meaning I ended up with 10x the number of tickets getting added onto the loyalty card thing they use to keep track of them. No idea how that happened!

20230529_180920.thumb.jpg.107bb2aa03b91de60af0e3ea9313d839.jpg

First one I got was random but a look online reveled there's a code on the box that gives away the contents like a Hot Wheels Mystery Model

20230529_180937.thumb.jpg.e602bff9a72c306854239397c0f0ba88.jpg

This was the initial one

20230529_181335.thumb.jpg.8a67233773cd24ad78d3f4dd27ad5432.jpg20230529_181435.thumb.jpg.d389c3d1fb3e64a953837222c7ab193b.jpg20230529_181445.thumb.jpg.5c3395d23d60e3f4259f277353b91065.jpg20230529_181456.thumb.jpg.c44d7675bef42880d3aeac3dc9e887eb.jpg20230529_181539.thumb.jpg.0bae194bcfb53a9b3b24e61a19bac3f1.jpg20230529_181613.thumb.jpg.f953ca7706f241944283a1d231f01bb3.jpg

Inside the pack you get the car, a display case, two or three "tuning" parts, poster of all the cars, sometimes a sticker, and a collectors chip with stats.

Due to too many beers I got two the same, but the ones I got are pretty good - most of them look better without the plastic bits!

Finally got to a boot fair today, the first proper one I've been to this year. Quite a haul between Mrs Concern & I.

IMG_6930.thumb.JPG.9bc7aa60af8f87d6028a16796dcb447b.JPG

She got a waterline ship, two Matchbox Kingsize boat trailers, a Corgi Juniors caravan (I think she already has five), a Corgi Juniors GP Beach Buggy (not had these before, has five regular size ones) and a lovely Majorette twin axle caravan we've never seen before. She also got som other non die cast stuff so we bothe spent about the same.

I got a Burago Citroen C4 VTS for 30p missing a spoiler and a tyre, a V70 (hoping it had a suitable tyre) also 30p and a Kingsize Rancho with both tailgate parts 30p.

Some petrol pumps, a Kingsize Miura and Bora (unless someone wants them I'l probably use the wheels for projects), a nice Kingsize Stingray wagon thing (!). I'm not collecting 1/36 Corgi and only have five so I got this Polo missing decal and tailgat window. Repaint Corgi Commer pickup, Lovely Corgi Buick, fucked Corgi Whizzwheels Stingray. Two Corgi Major trailers for 50p and the Corgi Ford H cab trailer without the Tractor Unit £4, too much maybe, but I like it. Made in China Ferrari will be a donor for wheels and maybe some interior parts

The Majorette Caravan is now in the summer house and it is a lovely model with opening windows and doors. It has a metal chassis and plastic body with an interesting print like many Majorette models

IMG_6933.thumb.JPG.6ddd184a3c6db39ebe2040117456f811.JPG

The Buick Riviera for £3 is very nice, Mrs Concern has the metallic blue one with Dolphin Cabin Cruiser, it has the later cast wheels and this one has the wire wheels

IMG_6937.thumb.JPG.e97d1400e3b1a02c139f1d5f75a49d67.JPG

The tow hitch is broken so Mrs Concern can't swap it haha

IMG_6938.thumb.JPG.3d009a5b29bb4c42f82a32e1dddad47c.JPG

This Kingsize Stingray Caper Cart (was this a real thing?) cleaned up well and removed residue of the decals. I may remove the one on the bonnet too later.

IMG_6935.thumb.JPG.3c6c8057d1c6dad12bfd9a41f9ced632.JPG

As I said these are for parts unless anyone would like them

IMG_6936.thumb.JPG.2181dabf0712db4b6f4f52851bd6066c.JPG

Nice Corgi Majors trailer with all doors and tyres

IMG_6942.thumb.JPG.722771b9b6ddc395129972ada48ed775.JPG

The Corgi tanker was very dirty and scuffed, but cleaned up better than expected and ruined decals came off ok

IMG_6943.thumb.JPG.607e0646aa7da8cfa620f2340a6d39e3.JPG

The flat bed trailer is ok

IMG_6944.thumb.JPG.b58aee6f33f80bcb7e25d7d1e9dff01d.JPG

Obviously I had to try my tractor units on all the trailers!

IMG_6945.thumb.JPG.d4116614722dc464705117e70c96dce2.JPG

Now I really want another Ford H cab and a Mack Tractor Unit!

IMG_6946.thumb.JPG.ba8cd834f2332a4155abbc9370716931.JPG

Thought I'd better try out the Trans O Lite

IMG_6939.thumb.JPG.7843c31e0ba5ba1d9f9b4ad6a31fe587.JPG

So predictable

IMG_6940.thumb.JPG.b08d4c6e26037bc5d1c98fb144e6d4fd.JPG

I don't know why they're upside down as right way up in my photo album!

Of all of these my favourite will be shared in my next post, not to induce suspence, but because that was the limit I could upload at one time!

There was plenty I really like in the box of tat from today, but my absolute favourite is this...

IMG_6947.thumb.JPG.ce8dccd1890197637e0031a88a8fad97.JPG

It is pretty bashed about and missing the roof panels, the bonnet and both headlights (the mechanism is still present haha)

IMG_6950.thumb.JPG.f35b5d16f58f942434be4f8674405b64.JPG

However it does have four jewelled rear lights!

IMG_6949.thumb.JPG.92d29d69c51fadcdb81af95c893cb976.JPG

Not sure what to do with it, but I don't care as there's something dainty about it that I like and didn't expect also it was great to find in a big box of 90s/2000s Made in China junk for 50p

IMG_6948.thumb.JPG.dda568b8958310194e85f3d9fcd1c891.JPG

It's good that I like the casting so much just in case I happen to have bought a good Golden Jacks one on ebay the other day.

Also went to a boot sale today. Not a huge amount of stuff of any interest, but got these,

IMG_20230529_214242.thumb.jpg.88128e9dcb540b5ae1b6562919de9215.jpg

I'm so out of practice buying older unboxed diecasts (except on here), so have no idea whether I paid over the odds, but paid £2 for this lot,

IMG_20230529_214430.thumb.jpg.de2cc9332a2f658915fe821f2dc14581.jpg

And £4 for this lot.

This thread has a lot to answer for! Collecting older Corgi Juniors and Matchbox Suoerfasts etc was a rabbit hole I didn't want to go down, as I already have enough time, money and house space used up by my other diecast interests.

But I couldn't help myself,

IMG_20230529_215923.thumb.jpg.654b096650baab03b25ccad568d9b218.jpg

1971 Citroen SM is nice and fairly tidy. Seen the Speed King version quite a lot but never come across the smaller Suoerfast.

IMG_20230529_215954.thumb.jpg.55b8754c3962bbd2af3b3e7d9933e226.jpg

It's newer bigger brother is in lovely condition, save for a snapped off towing hitch.

IMG_20230529_220035.thumb.jpg.c797b4a436fb713a9ae4f1b0637a770a.jpg

IMG_20230529_220105.thumb.jpg.1150b7b7918ce67ad506d729fbf5a057.jpg

Porker 928 has a bit of paint loss but not too had really. As a kid, I had a metallic blue one and a black one with a massive Porsche logo on the bonnet, but never come across a JRG version.

IMG_20230529_220116.thumb.jpg.a06515e0b69d98e9953c3e63727d45f8.jpg

IMG_20230529_220129.thumb.jpg.c7ef8c7b9027cd5c76a81b1206a1b5ed.jpg

And due to a slight case of FOMO due to never having owned any  Corgi  Rockets before, I had to save this rather sad Templar-issue P1800. Missing a lot of paint and a front bumper corner but at least it has a chassis!

These Majorettes seem like a nifty idea to add some play value through modifying but ultimately create inferior outcomes, as a result of said playing.

Micro Machines tried the same trick in 1990. Here's mine (photographed poorly):

Screenshot_20230530_100022_Gallery.thumb.jpg.93db929cd9dec4851170a1340b6a28df.jpg

Ignore the meat and potatoes of this shot and focus on the little red tool box up top.

Screenshot_20230530_100058_Gallery.thumb.jpg.56ea1d13f82223d720f2dc39ec80b258.jpg

Inside were some options to tastefully* modify a Porsche 944 and Ferrari Testarossa. Wheel options were standard size, wider rubberised ones, large ones and tractor sized ones.

There were a couple of sticky out engines, bull bar front ends (!) and rear spoilers to add to the general mash-uppery of things.

Ignore the white plastic bits - they belonged to another set. I think I found all the bits to complete this kit, in the end.

Screenshot_20230530_100030_Gallery.jpg.4e5ba959672db10d150d7b9b12c454fb.jpg

And here's a result, built back in the 90's, when this last saw the light of day. The axles clicked into height settings to allow for larger wheels/gasser stance.

Ultimately, this all proved too frivolous for my young self, so the Testorossa remained unmodified on the wheels you see and the 944 always rocked the wide rubbers. I think I put the above effort together as a 'one last time' muck about, before interring it in the loft, circa 1996 when I moved bedrooms.

831082_Screenshot_20230530_100713_FreeAdblockerBrowser.thumb.jpg.e812ed938ad5bbe9530eaa86778df48e.jpg

From a quick Google, it seems the set was quite ironically titled Speed Shop.

923702101_Screenshot_20230530_100723_FreeAdblockerBrowser.thumb.jpg.72ef8d754185041d8216b2b243cc8a15.jpg

Theoretically, other sets were available but it seems that Micro Machines were waning by 1991 and products offered were similarly reduced after the release of this set in 1990.

That was certainly news to 1991 me!! I guess a result of the olden days, when the release of items from abroad were often delayed.

Anyway, see here for more info:

Ah, but that selection with the Merc was a whole £4! To be honest, with the contents of the tub this lot was hiding in (under a load of generic plastic pre-schooler toys), I could have come away with three or four times the amount, but I started to get "the look" from the Mrs...

Anyway, that Merc,

IMG_20230529_214458.thumb.jpg.1647babbed94022a9e09897513b6b5dd.jpg

Yeah, it's not the best, and there's a tyre missing. But, the pull-back mechanism works, and apart from our local toyshop selling them in period, I've never seen one in the wild, so I grabbed it.

Modern Maisto Mustang was a bit of an oddball, but it's not a badly made thing and it's absolutely mint.

Love the Porker GT3, both from Hot Wheels and Matchbox, but this one (and everything else bought today) dates from before I fell back down the smaller scale slippery slope. Colour coded stripes and wheels FTW.

IMG_20230529_214751.thumb.jpg.41ec5678d877c0a225db6a65977841c9.jpg

Another newish Matchbox, a lovely caramel coloured early Firebird. Nice detail on this, that rear plate is tiny!

Hot Wheels now, apart from a bit of foil loss on one wheel, this Meyers Manx is like new,

Late Camaro ZL1,

IMG_20230529_215524.thumb.jpg.59848728ab26676335e4548f4b3e268f.jpg

More AS colours on this 'Stang 390GT. As they've hammered the fastback casting lately, it's nice to have an early coupé.

IMG_20230529_215551.thumb.jpg.e44b068d7ca41536d8aceafc10eba60b.jpg

I'm a sucker for a Fox body too. Guess this and the Pontiac GTO below were part of one of the 5-packs,

IMG_20230529_215625.thumb.jpg.1366a389458fca665a36e7d4813a4cd4.jpg

Another GTO, sadly a little tattier than the rest of the Hot Wheels haul, but I had to have it because it's a Judge version, one of my favourite muscle cars

IMG_20230529_215859.thumb.jpg.e53e75e232e99bc29091c22930989366.jpg

And I was a little excited to find this Realtoy Merc.

IMG_20230529_231157.thumb.jpg.c8b69d3b4cde95de9af8273b626c204f.jpg

I've got a few Realtoy Mercs, but this is the only small Merc I've found that is a close colour match to the Granite Grey on my real car.

16350932396524069853739016738268.jpg.d81760d8f1672d62615ee684bc1605eb.thumb.jpg.e0a34374b8c086387d5a85acbfc20462.jpg

(The colour on the real car looks a lot lighter when the sun's on it, so even more like the toy...)

Okay, so it's an E Class but the body shapes are so similar, at this scale the difference is barely noticeable, especially from the rear!

Also passed a stall selling tin "Man Cave" type signs etc, the Mrs bought me this,

Speaking of modifiable cars, when I went to New York in 2003, when I was still going through my phase of modifying real cars, I found a 1/43 range of cars simply called 'Modifiers' in FAO Schwarz toy shop. They were very detailed, with interchangeable wheels, body kits, interiors and engine bays. A tiny screwdriver was supplied.

I bought the Honda Accord Coupe but you could also get a Ford Focus and a Honda Civic.

They missed a trick with that Firebird!  Anyone else immediately saw it on California blue plates, 853 OKG?  Yeah, you'd be as wrong as I was, Jim Rockford's car was a 74 which has a different front.  He subsequently had a 77 which is different again.  Does look like a lovely model, just a year too early!

And talking of odd Corvettes here's a Matrix model of the 1954 Chevrolet Corvair Concept.

If this had made production in 1954 it would have made the E-Type look old fashioned in 1961.

Mild excitement in Tesco today when a Matchbox...box appeared

Looks like more of the same though, several Amis inside and a few I wasn't 100% sure I'd seen because I don't really look at moderns

Weird - that seems to be the same case selection I've seen everywhere Matchbox are sold (ok, so Tesco, B&M, The Entertainer and Poundland), and I've yet to see an Ami on the shelves from any of them!

It's ok, I'm not desperate for one or anything, but it's weird that I still haven't clapped eyes on a single one yet when they seem to be quite widespread elsewhere... can't imagine they'd exactly be attracting Hot Wheels RS2000 levels of demand!

I remember building both the General and the towtruck 40 years ago (ish).  The General was the wrong body: MPC had used their existing moulding, which was a Charger 500, a low-production model with a differently-faired rear screen.  Consequently it never looked quite right as the General, which had always been a regular Charger.

The Golden Jacks Stingray I alluded to earlier came through the letterbox today and it really is a lovely thing...

The colour (burgandy according to Mr Van Cleemput) really is the epitome of "popping" paint

I also finally got the transfers on my C2 but I haven't worked out how to get the T roof panels off of the C3 without breaking them yet

Funny that the C2 is probably made after the C3

I never used to like Stingrays...
