MarinaJosh
For sale-1990 Peugeot 309 1.3 GLXMOT'd until May 2018 -passed with one advisory for an oil leak- appears to be coming from the usual place for a G1A engine- rocker cover gasket! A new gasket is about a fiver. Sadly I don't have a spare otherwise I'd do it! It's finished in Alpine White. This is a well specced car in great overall condition. It started out life as a demonstrator for Howes of Fakenham, Norfolk. It lived in Fakenham until I bought it. It still has the original dealer numberplates and rear window sticker. It was bought by a salesman there before ending up with a chap who kept it for the majority of it's life. He passed away and a friend dived in to save it before I bought it (it was registered to my dad before me).I have owned for about five years and covered nearly 35k miles in it- it has been serviced every 6k. The next oil change is due at 107k, it has currently just gone past 105k- I will be chucking in my spare oil filters. Mileage is going up as using daily at the moment. The coolant has been done every two years- last done in 2016. This is a very reluctant sale- I am only selling it as I have fallen in love with a Peugeot 405 and if I keep it I just won't use it. It has been off the road for the past year as I replaced it as a daily with a 309 turbo diesel which I have also just sold. The intention was to make it perfect but I have never got round to it.The following work has been done since I have owned it:New clutch cableNew thermostatNew radiator fan switchNew NGK spark plugs not long before it came off the roadOriginal speakers replaced for new itemsNew front discs, hoses, pads and calipersNew rear wheel cylinders and shoesNew master cylinderNew exhaustNew dizzy cap, HT leads etc That's it! This has by far been the best and most reliable car I have ever owned... It has Avon ZT5 tyres up front fitted just before it came off the road, the tracking was redone at the same time. The rears and spare are Toyos which are a little older (fitted about a year after I bought it) but they're still in great shape. The not so good points...The rear arches could do with respraying. A friend did some welding on it and I never got round to getting them painted. It has had a replacement driver's side front wing. Somebody didn't look where they were going and smacked into it. Fortunately a friend had a good wing from an identical car. It doesn't fit perfectly- they tend to get a little bent when being removed as the original underseal is so thick! It still looks good though. The original bumper survived as did the front grille. It's also had a new indicator on that side but it's a slightly different tint to the one the other side. It's amazing how many different variations Peugeot produced! The original Clarion radio/cassette is fitted but several of the digits on the display have failed, the radio still works perfectly. The cassette deck doesn't appear to work properlyGlovebox has done the usual, it is secured in place with velcro, a bit more discreet than the usual screws or door bolt! The speedometer flickers a bit- the grease in the speedometer cable has probably dried out. New speedometer cables are available direct from Peugeot. The car would benefit from a fresh coat of underseal to keep it in good condition. It was undersealed with Dinitrol aerosols a few years ago but annoyingly it virtually all washed off... All box sections were wax injected at the same time. The rear driver's door lock solenoid doesn't always seem to operate. Locks and unlocks fine manually, will just need a new solenoid. It drives beautifully, using it daily again at the moment. It drives beautifully, handles like a 309 should and looks great. I will miss it dearly.Asking £650 or make me a cheeky offer. Getting my 405 Monday so would be nice if I could get shot of it before then... ProgRocker, barefoot, Sloth in a bowl and 10 others
Lacquer Peel
Wow that's sweet, good luck with the sale. Thread for your 405 when you get it please, I love them. MarinaJosh
HillmanImp
I normally like these cars but for some reason this one is saying nah to me. jumpingjehovahs and wuvvum
strangeangel
Shame it's not a small commercial, cos it'd be worth £1000000000, even with no sills, floor or hope. Joking apart, that is a lovely car. GLWTS. michael1703 and BorniteIdentity
JayW
I do like that, much! But garages are full. I don't recall a PSA 1.3??? Surely you mean 1.4?
bramz7
Ye olde Simca engine right?I'd be all over this if I wanted a 309, but similar to you I'm swooning all over my recently acquired 405. Also I luzzed a bid on something on eBay and I've semi convinced myself I now really want it. SIGH.GLWTS BorniteIdentity
MarinaJosh
Yeah it's the old G1A Talbot/Simca engine. It's one of the first PH2 309s, not long after Peugeot replaced it with the 1.4 TU engine. The G1A engines are full of character (rattly) but soldier on forever.
