I've seen the Chevy truck one, smart.

Mike Brewer REALLY gets on my tits though. I know this has been mentioned before, and people that have met him say he's not the utter TOOL that he seems on the box, but, I'm sorry, he just really annoys me. (rant over).

thats okay, he really annoys me too

but its like an addiction, watching them buy a nice motor, spend a fortune, then make 50p profit :D

and thats before taking Eds free labour into account!

tbh I think the series has lost some of it's charm - I preferred the early ones with a budget of £1k - not that you could pick up anything remotely classic for that money now.

I laughed at the episode with the capri - Edd went to the bother of replacing the front wings and valance then painted them with a rattle can! To be fair he did a reasonable job, but if you could get the same results from a can as from a gun then there would'nt be many body shops.

I have lost count of the number of rattle cans I have gone through during my car ownership - there must be a hole in the ozone layer above widnes and warrington.

was it all really worth it?

Thing is, old Brewer just doesn't come over as knowing very much about cars. Watching the DeLorean one he doesn't seem to know much about Back To The Future, either.

And then he jumps in the drivers seat when he goes to see the car, starts it and goes VROOM VROOM VROOM from cold, saying "Wow, that sounds great!"

Tit.

Now someone tell me, Out of all the paint colours in the world, why did they paint that '57 Bel Air Ferrari yellow?, It ended up looking like a bloody Taxi cab! Even Edd didn't seem very impressed with it.

Aye, it was originally black, so why not put it back black? It looked ok yellow, but black it would be something quite special

i have been watching fatboy (brewer) in the early episodes, when he says to the guy "this is my final offer or i will walk away"

i think i would have to reply " well fuck off and don't let me keep you"

The series is 100% set up. The cars are already bought and paid for long before 'Slimboy Fat' turns up (who really does know sweet FA about cars. I've yet to meet a car salesman that does). And the so called sales at the end.... ( I remember the VW Transporter ep, where it was basically showing the build of Edd's surf van )

Edd is the producer of the show, and calls all the shots. Mike is just there for 'entertainment purposes' and isn't needed in the slightest, but is there because Edd really isn't that comfortable in front of the camera. You can tell that by the nervousness & body language. Edd is much happier when he has his spanners & hammers in his hand.

This show is exactly like Chopshop, and Bernie from that show has openly admitted that it was all a sham, and done for entertainment, and was told to act as if it was a real business.

Captain Obvious saves us from our delusions!

All TV programmes are set ups in some way or other. Not really fussed that WD isn't 'real', it's just refreshing to have a bit of spannering and old cars on the TV.

Brewer knows a lot more about cars than he makes out on the show - remember it is a show - it has to be entertaining hence all the 'diamond geezer' mince.

I tend to fast forward the sourcing and collecting of the car because any experienced shitter will know exactly how much to pay and where to find the target chod.

However, the Edd China spannering is invaluable to the likes of me - apart from you lot NONE of my mates have a clue about mechanics and I have self taught from manuals, internet and advice from guys like you lot - China's spannering is invaluable because he shows you the tips the manuals don't and gives you the confidence to tackle the tricky stuff. Because of this I really like the program.

I would like to see them tackling some A1 Chod though! A Solara, a BX, a Cav, a YUGO etc...never happen because they have to sell the program to Discovery Shed and the stupid bint that buys them assumes that fellahs want to watch fantasy classics being restored rather than seeing realistic affordable chod being fixed up which I suspect is where most of the viewers sit, not being able to afford a DS or a Delorean

I seem to recall our very own Nigel being on a telly program with Brewer in it...although it may not have been Brewer who was interviewing him

It should have been black or red but it did look like a cracking paint job.

When the looked under it on the ramp in the states I notice a big bleb of grot. I wonder if they fixed it?

I recon you could have save a few quid by getting a rebuild kit for that carb and re-chroming the existing shiney bits.

I've always been a fan of Wheeler Dealers, even with Mike’s irritating comments. However I can only agree with Bren - some of the charm of the show has been lost as the budgets over the series have grown dramatically. Still very addictive and fun to watch, though.

As for that ‘57 Chevvy Bel Air last night - "yuck" is all I can politely say about the colour. What a horrible choice. A New York cab for sure. I actually smirked when I saw it pull up on the trailer. I think Edd was hiding reservations about it judging from his body language at the start. If they had to go for yellow, I would have gone for that authentic looking pastel shade hands down. Besides, what was wrong with the original light blue? I thought it would have been much more attractive if they’d just resprayed it that colour and tidied up the wheels.

Speaking of which, as for those huge chrome alloys, oh please...

I adored the car, although not what they done to it.

Mike: 'Trus me Ed me owd chinah, we're gonna make a mint on viss 'un'

Edd : 'Mike its a crappy old Renner that no bugger in their right mind wants, and the auto electrician bill will run into thousands. I'm going to pinch the engine, and weigh the rest in for scrap'

It's been a great series, Brewer is a bit 'cheeky bleeding cockney geezer' but not to the point where it's not watchable. Sod's law I fell to sleep half way through the one where he got a DS from France.
