loserone Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I've been making an effort recently to get some awful camera phone spots of nice tat I notice as I pass by. Some, of course, are better than others. Lets start off with this one.A delicious 323F. I'm really lusting after these at the minute, seeing ERR's sitting wheelless and in far better nick than my daily gave me nightmares for weeks. Is the indicator stalk on the RHS too? GR9 for one handed motorway cruising - it's something Audi should consider going back to, I think. The angle on the curb isn't unusual, the driver manages the same thing whilst moving along quite well too. This chap is as good as it looks. Always about, in obvious daily use and unlike every other german car from the 80s left around here, still looking clean and original. This one might not be clear from the pic, but it's one of those Proton pickups with 'handling by Lotus'. I did a bit of reading about them after I took it, and they seem to keep their value pretty well. Shame really, I quite like the idea of a two seater with enough space to move furniture around in the back - I can't remember the last time the seats were up in the Almera. An Orion. Except this one's an Escort. One for someone no longer of this parish. Looks excellent for picking up corsas with faded red paint. Minus points only for not being an MGB, I really couldn't believe the registration. Yum yum yum The driver of this classwagon was clearly very eager to start refuelling. Best courtesy car I've seen in a very long time. Not quite as clean as it appears, but probably the best advert they could possibly have. 1.6TS 156. Same spec and nearly the same reg as the one my brother owned a few years ago, although hopefully this one was the same length on each side(!). Spotted on eBay last week for £495 or offers,or PX, or anything, please, just take it off our hands. please? Taken by the side of Loch Lomond on the return trip from the Caingorms last month. More heavily loaded than we were (tho we were only camping for a week) but not half as spot worthy as this pair: That's all for now, I'll try and get some I've been planning for a while tomorrow when it's light.
RedSparrow Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Nice work.I like those Polski Fiats more than Ladas. I know the differences are small but I just do. Also, I bet the owner of that VW van is called 'mikey'.
CreepingJesus Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Quality spots. I've had to have a good stare at the Audi; haven't seen one in so long, far less as mint as that.Also..."Millenium Falcon"
mattblack Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Nice work.I like those Polski Fiats more than Ladas. I know the differences are small but I just do. Just the small difference of them being completely different cars...
CreepingJesus Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Cheers for the second pic, you're a gent!
barrett Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Great first spotting update! Surprised this hasn't got more attention with two Polski-Fiats, an FSO and a Lada!Love the Carina estate, that really must be seriously rare now, especially for something fairly 'new'. Keep up the good work sir.
boobydoo Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Excellent spotting...almost worthy of a Hetty Wainthrop Investigates. The Lada wheeltrims are an outrage....surely a Lidl purchase...not even Halfords ones are that hideous.
Luxobarges_Are_Us Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 I love the Riva wheeltrims. Proper half-hearted attempt to make the Riva look futuristic. Does anyone know what the 125p yellow-red flags stand for?
garethj Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 What's with the Polish cars covered in zany stickers? Is there a website in Poland where people have to buy a car for a week's wages and drive it somewhere mad, like England?
loserone Posted August 28, 2011 Author Posted August 28, 2011 Thanks for the replies all, it is nice to see that I'm not 'doin it wrong' I really should put more effort into posting on here, but my car-related knowledge/experience would be put to shame by nearly every one of you, and I hate being a "+1 orsum" type. Afraid more updates this weekend unlikely - I've spent the day in laybys reading CCB in preference to driving an Avensis estate around Northumberland avoiding cyclists. Blimey, moderns are 'interesting'. Wait, wrong word. What's with the Polish cars covered in zany stickers? Is there a website in Poland where people have to buy a car for a week's wages and drive it somewhere mad, like England? Something like that. We must have seen 30+ Polish bangers, all heading to Loch Ness according to the stickers. A few cars had 'Warsaw -> Moscow 2009, .. to .. 2010' etc on, so were obviously clocking up the miles. Sure it was discussed on here for a little, but it was in one of the fast moving threads IIRC. Wasn't one spotted in London in a bus lane or something? One FSO we saw had a full family as occupants and a totally flat tyre, and they knew about it. Tried to offer them a bottle of nasty tyre inflatey gunk crap (When you're camping for a week in a 5, you don't carry a spare), but then I saw the gaping splits in the sidewalls and understood why they didn't look interested. Didn't stop them rejoining the motorway the other side of Glasgow though.
loserone Posted August 28, 2011 Author Posted August 28, 2011 Was the Audi in Norton? But of course. There's a Citroen H van type device the other side of the road too, but I'm afraid I'm yet to get a picture of it. Or the chavved up Bluebird which hangs around near Boots.
pompei Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 I haven't been to Norton since my aunt died a couple of years ago but I remember the H van. Does it advertise some cafe or restaurant or something?
Spottedlaurel Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 As far as I remember from the GT we had, 323F does have indicator on the proper side (on the right). I think it was only in the mid '90s that Japanese-made cars intended for sale in the UK started having them on the wrong side. It gets confusing when I switch between the Laurel/older Camrys and the '97 Sport. Carina II estate certainly a rarity, I still see a few hatchbacks around though.
andrew e Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 My wifes 10 plate Kia RIo has the right hand indicator. As a result I have a scratched "dry-wipe" screen in the BMW
loserone Posted September 20, 2011 Author Posted September 20, 2011 Coming home from work yesterday, following this beauty Which we then saw again in the town tonight. Check out those wheeltrims! As promised, a pants 'I'm composing a text message, honestly' picture of the fake-adidas two stripe bluebird. After the previous update, we walked through the high street every other night for a a couple of weeks, looking for that H van. SWMBO even pointed out which block of garages she's seen it parked outside, but it seems to have been well hidden with the pretty dismal weather we've been having. Further updates soon.Honest.
Gompo Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 That Cortina has got a bit of Barry's Dad going on with it. I dont like it but atleast it's being used.
loserone Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 well, I suppose it's time I updated this, seeing as the sun has been out today. (It was hailing at the same time, but nonetheless it was sunny.) First of all, a couple from the othernight. Nothing special, but 'does the camera work' tests required pictures, so pictures we have. S CARRY. I love these. OMGRWDJDMDRIFTY0 Nissan. This is the first time I've seen it all one colour Out of focus, out of sunlight, out of japan. Yup, it takes pictures of lights too. Anyway, today we went out for a short drive and ended up in Bellingham, where there be CLASSIC CARS. All six of themIn fact it was the Bellingham Heritage Centre Classic Weekend, but seeing as it was hailing intermittently throughout the morning, most were holding back. This Marina was nice from afar, and had pictures of it's resoration under the bonnet. I couldn't help but see the painted-over-bubbling, but it was tasteful at least. Badged PUCH HAFLINGER, I'm not sure I've seen one of these before. Does this look a little down on gas to anyone else? This lovely looking metro was the cause of a number of 'perhaps I should bring my car to show' comments as people walked past. PWOARR etc.The wood on the back of that Thames was beautiful. 15k on it apparently, BARN FIND. A reminder that this was a CLASSIC CAR show. I mean, other than the 15 Sherpa coupes, midgets and TFs. Our friend Victor had only 8k on the clock, and a cap with the owners name on it on the parcel shelf. I'm not sure I quite 'get' the show car scene. Why not use the things once in a while, other than to show it to other people? The MGB next to it was utterly spotless; I took a look at the chrome wheels and decided they were probably cleaner than my kitchen knives. Oh well, takes all sorts. Did I say immaculate? Some tractors - I know nothing about these, but they were pretty. As we left a nice SL mercedes arrived, as well as an SD1. Bummer.MOAR next weekend perhaps.
