trigger Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I've just come across this in a old issue of Autocar, I'm sure I'm not the only one to think this is quite cute! I know nothing about them and haven't bothered to look on google yet but I thought I'd share this anyway! Otosan Anadol Review 1968 by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr Matty and Amishtat 2
barrett Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 YUM! I love these... would love to own one at some point but I think there are only two over here, both very rough. This was designed by Reliant during their 'instant car company' phase... they also unsuccessfully sold the same design to a company in (iirc) South Africa where it was to be called the Anziel Nova - that one never got beyond a single prototype. When you do get a moment to google them, look out for the AWESOME coupe version they did in the early 70s

trigger Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 You sure that's right Mr Lord Sterling?, It's listed as a 1600cc there but it was a 1300cc?.
dollywobbler Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 It used Ford Kent engines, so probably just upgraded. An Anadol 'sleeper' must be fun!
Tonka Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 It's heavier than a Mk1 Escort Having said that it would make an interesting home for a 2.0 Litre Zetec
simmo Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I've put these up before but they go with this thread, there is a sort of transport museum in Istanbulthat has quite a few of these. carburettor and Amishtat 2
simmo Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Also spotted one laid up carburettor, Joey spud, MR SCRUFF and 1 other 4
flat4alfa Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I'll have the yellow one, with Chilli sauce, plz.
Pete-M Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 They had the pre-X/flow Kent lump, and if memory serves me right, loads of other old '60s Ford bits. Therefore, it's got to be a winner. Even with that name.
scooters Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Sam Glover had an Anadol lurking in Wiltshire somewhere - not sure if he still has it
nigel bickle Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Always wanted one. Saw several sitting by the roadside/in general use during a flying visit to southern Turkey in May. Spent half the return journey pondering...
scooters Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Go on nige....u know u want to! You won't get away with not telling the wife exactly where you are collecting from though! When I first heard about the otosan analdol I did think that it was a sex toy made by a Japanese company that had been founded by a German called Otto. carburettor 1
nigel bickle Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Way too many awaiting collection right now... Back prohibits action, sadly.
Burhan Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Merhaba, ben türküm tesadüfen konuyu buldum ve ilgilenmeniz hoşuma gitti. Bem 1973 anadol marka araca sahibim yakın zamanda restore ettim sizlerle paylaşmak isterim. Jimbob McGregor, Wilko220, bigstraight6 and 22 others 21 4
Pillock Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Holy thread resurrection. Love the pictures, we're not massive multilingual around here though so you may get more response with something resembling English (or as close as most of us get, anyway)
catsinthewelder Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Quote Hello, I'm Turkish coincidentally found the topic and I liked your interest. Bem 1973 anadol brand vehicle I have restored recently I would like to share with you After a quick spin through Google translate. It looks fantastic, I love the colour Harika görünüyor, rengi seviyorum egg, Lacquer Peel and Amishtat 3
egg Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Love the quarter-light windows - essential in Turkey I would think!

skoda_fan Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 I visited Turkey years ago and these things were everywhere. What wasn't an Anadol was a piece of 50s Americana in usually battered condition. Bet it's not like that there now.

What isn't a European diesel is a Turkish-built car like the Anadol. There are also quite a few Fords from the 80s and 90s.
chaseracer Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Hmmmm.... martc, Braddon81, Lacquer Peel and 2 others 5
carlo Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 I have a small green one: Datsuncog, egg, Mrs6C and 1 other 4
Skut Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 There were loads of truck anadols when I went there in about 96. Didn't see any coupes or saloons at all. Plenty of American iron there at that time. Also Turkish BMC branded trucks which was confusing. skoda_fan 1

chaseracer Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 He still lurks within the electronic parish, so we may find out...
