Show season is looming...

... and I think the Autoshite collective should do something on the show front this year.

I was thinking earlier about some of the chod we have between us, and about the giggle at Cholmondely last year, I've got the AS banner safely stashed and was thinking we could have a proper laugh at a show or two if the weather is ok.

I mean, how many other little corners of the interweb have some of the mental stuff we have? Thinking about it, we've probably got more Tagoras than the Tagora owners club, one or two Chrysler 180s, Nigel Bickle could fill a field with mental chod if he desired, there will soon be two running 604s, Hirst's Stanza and mad Jap cab thing, Torsten's Maxis, the list goes on. I couldn't even begin to think what some of you lot have squirrelled away.

We had a pretty nutty variety of stuff at Cholmondely last year, but at the moment there's quality shite all over the show.

So who's up for an assault on the Sherpa DHC brigade? (But give me a few months to sort the 604 ;) )

I'd love to do a Autoshite owner's club meet at a show but sadly most of you guys are so far spread that i doubt it would work, I might be doing Billing this year though.

Pah, tis an easy run from your way to Chodmondely. Couple of hours in the Kadett.

I'll be at Cholmondeley. I want to say in the Escort for sure but I can't...

I might be up for a mad dash down south in the Mondeo, once fixed. Just to stretch its' legs, so to say. Where is the Chomondley show?

Failing that, maybe some of us Scots could do one closer to home?

Cholmondeley shouldn't be more than a four hour drive for most UK based shiters.

I quite fancy doing a South East show this year. A bit of a long haul to Kent or somewhere like that.

^Found it. Hmmm...an hour of enthusiastic driving on the A702, then four of sensible driving! The only question is whether a full tank of petrol or the wheelbearings expire first...

Don't forget the awesomeness that is the Walton-On-The-Naze Classic Car Show, always suprisingly half decent. Usually a good turn out from the Mk I & II Granada boys, various Yanks of differing degrees of shite-ity and some poor, misguided fool who always turns up in a '90 Carina with 3 metric tons of chrome shit nailed to it.

All this and just a stones throw from Dodgems and Kiss-Me-Kwik pensioners.

I'm up for lowering the standards at Cholmondely with one of my rust buckets, 56 miles apparently :D

I've been going to this for the last two years, always been a good day out. Last years photos. http://www.flickr.com/photos/triggersca ... 419045234/

He started talking to me last year about seat covers, he really is as mad as he's car looks.

I've just got to add this photo as well, You can never have too many door mirrors on your Carina.

Sorry guys, as you were.

Quite fancy sorting Chodmongdiesely Castle out for May, it's always been a great show. I'll mail Andrew Greenwood later/over the weekend and get cracking if people want?

It'll probably be the usual restriction of 15 places per 'display area' and if we get more hopefully he'll bosch us next to each other.

I’ll try and do one or two this year. Walton for us East Anglian bods sounds good, handily by the seaside for the family. What’s the date on that one?

Posted

Thought you might step into the breach, Trig, cheers. My car of the show fo'sho.

Posted

defo up for chumley as always...Capesthorne is good on the right day (sunday I think)

I'd be up for Walton too, got a choice of three eligible cars at the moment, one would really get up the noses of the sherpa squad... :D

Anything sounds good - not fussed about Bromley though. I think we'd get lost there to be honest as it's so huuuuge. And the big stereo lot are bloody tiring there. And it's a fapping long way away! Apart from that, sounds good!

Chomlondley sounds ideal. I've wanted to do that for a while and haven't been able to yet. I might have to get something more shite though - the 2CV's a bit nice. Though I have been threatening to hand paint it...

I'm definitely up for Cholmondeley again this year, Billy. Might even get the Celica MOT'd!

Otherwise, God only knows what chod I'll rock up in.

I'm definately up for a gathering at a show. Not overly fussed where, within reason I'll drive a fair distance just to moan about overpriced burgers, laugh at the MG Owners Club and take a few photos on the wrong settings.

Would you be going to one of the Andrew Greenwood's shows at Thoresby Hall (Bank Hol May and Aug), or Newark Autojumble every month (except August)?

Nice one. It's the turning up that counts though and I might even carry out last year's threat of coming on two wheels.

I am mad for going to some shows, for the first time in years i'm gonna have time to do a few this year. Just gotta get a decent car sorted!

{cough} Cavalier Spasmatron? {cough}

I've i've still got that by the time the shows etc are kicking off, somethings gone very wrong indeed!

I could go in for a cheshire set revival. I did Chumley, Capesthorne & Tatton Park afew years with the Manta peeps. I reckon a quick dash up the m1&m6 in my OMG TURBO Silvia would be fun. Not confident it'll be ready for summer tho.... :?

'presume doobery with the tanoi still keeps the crowd "entertained" at chumley & capesthorne ?

I'm certain Captain Bumlick will compere once more, unfortunately.

Is there some way a remote mic could be used to 'accidentally' over-ride the twat? It might be fun hiding in the back of a Maestro van and shouting random abuse about Sherpa Sports.

If he uses the standard issue Sennheiser or whatever, I'm sure another radio mic on the same frequency could do the job... with a bit of signal amplification or careful aerial tweakage...
