Hello again! Long time no shite...

Hello to those who have been here years that i know, and Hello to those who are new!  After visiting Saabnut last week i was prompted to come in and say hello again.  No additions to my fleet  but lots have left for new lives in  other places.  No longer in the motor trade after a wonderful 26 yr stint at the same place.  The last nearly 5 yrs I have learned to, been driving shite buses and absolutely loving it!  Having cleared a good few cars i decided with help from "Little Red! to get my wife's x19 out from its 15 yr hibernation.

Still a bus man, no Montego now sadly! 240, 740, XC90, very rotten Proton and a Transit.

Looking forward to hearing about your bus experiences

Well, it's been interesting that's for sure. There are levels of bodgery and general lack of give a fuck, that in the past i would have admired and approved of.  A a combination of being older and the responsibility of the job mean i tend not to and I have and do struggle with it to be honest  :)  Can you guess with whom I drive ? :)

Hello from an ex-bus driver and previous Volvo 740/940 owner.

Do you drive for National Express or Arriva?

And I've no idea why the picture is upside down.

We bought three Volvo B7Rs from the graveyard at Insch. One broke down nineteen times on the collection journey and never actually carried a fare paying passenger for us, one had constant fuel pump issues and the other had an ABS fault that no-one could work out as all the sensors were working.

Stagecoach had fitted different sized tyres across the drive axle which sent the computer mental 🤦‍♂️

I can't muster a n "I'm surprised at that"  response.   They will have been the old coaches we had, I can still hear the clack clack clack of the wheelchair ramp sticking when  ever you needed to try and use it.

Bloody hell. That's a name I haven't seen for years! Welcome back.

Excellent! What ho Kinkersaab. Are you planning to document your X-19 recommissioning on here? I likes those!

Possibly. :)  My wife got it when she graduated in 1993 ish  she ran it as her car until 2004 ish when it was put in a shed.  I dragged it out in 2011 ish and put it on the road for a summer, it then went away again until yesterday.  Currently wont start, suspect knackered starter which i have removed today. Her dad (who maintained it for her) thankfully kept on top of it and applied huge amounts of waxoil, regularly. it seems to have not deteriorated rust wise since i last saw it.

@Barry Cade is our resident X1/9 expert. Scottish too.

Its been a while. I'm a bit rusty! 😆

That's a very late Gran Finale. Nice! If its still on the original braided fuel hoses, change them now!

Welcome back.

Dragging this Benz out of your barn in the snow is one of my more memorable shite-shifting escapades.

Welcome back!

We met before I even knew about Autoshite when I bought a white Saab 9000 Aero from you. My first Saab!

Another name I recognise from back when I was way more active over on UKSaabs!  Hopefully you'll enjoy our own distinct brand of mayhem over here.

That's a proper machine for a first Saab. My first one was when my mother in law bought a brand new Corsa in the late 90s and gave me her B reg 900 - carb'd and with a 3-speed Borg Warner. I liked it for its character, decided to look after it properly,  and had some work done at a classic Saab specialist.

It was only when they gave me a 900 Turbo as a loan car that I realised, bloody hell, these things can be really quick as well as really cool! Didn't get properly hooked until then.

It was @kinkersaab who introduced me to this place so you have him to blame! When he came over to drink my tea a couple of weeks ago I nagged him to returning. Lee has some properly nice cars in his collection.

I want to see more X1/9 please! I had a similar G-plate Gran Finale from January 1994 to August 94, when I'd stupidly bought an Opel Manta as well and had to make a choice for insurance reasons. Mine was traded in for a new SEAT Terra for work, then whoever bought it crashed it. Tried to buy it from the scrapyard, but missed out - it got repaired and crashed again, and apparently repaired again...

Probably one of the best cars I'd had in terms of feeling awesome owning it, and enjoying how it drove and handled.

G234 GMS is still showing on the DVLA as well - SORN, not MOTd since 2009 (so it managed at least 12 years after the accidents!) and last V5 change in 2012. I wonder if it does still exist somewhere lurking in a Borders garage.
