L322 TDV8 Range Rover - Excellent* Example Found, Collection pending

Yes, Autoshite is on fire right now when it comes to Range Rovers changing hands. I now have my sights on the TDV8s as decent ones can be had for around £2500 (with a bit of patience and luck). I've narrowly missed a well maintained one on Ebay this morning. If you happen to know a decent one (the less rot the better) in that price range that's also ideally not silver, please let me know! Willing to pay more for one with a heavy duty tow bar.

Please do! I'm not used to having so much choice when looking for a car, of he's got something interesting in that price range I'm interested! Unless it's a Range Rover Sport...

So, I asked the guy, it's a 2011 4.4 so much newer than I thought, he says:

"It's a £4700 car, just done rear brakes on it. Failed its mot on Wednesday on rear brakes and it's sorted now"

I realise it's not particularly what you were after and is quite a bit above budget, but thought it might still be worth mentioning given how much better the 4.4 engine is :)

I had a 4.4 TDV8 a few years ago. It's the pinnacle of the L322 IMHO, although I got rid after a lot of pain and cost with the DPF. Ended up having it mapped out; I wish I'd found that solution much earlier in the process!

There could well be someone else on here interested, bearing in mind it’s around what this Evoque is going for.

If @Schaefft isn’t interested, let me know the reg for history and spec purposes, pm if necessary 👍

A bit more than what I'd be willing to pay for it but that doesn't mean that it isnt a good price, the 4.4 really is the one to have if you want to spend a little extra.

I think I have found the ideal Range Rover for me now anyway. I just won it on ebay from a seller with -1 feedback (!) looking like this:

Congrats....I think.

With so much choice out there I think I'd have just found another one with that feedback. I hope it works out and is a good motor for you

To be fair, its a poorly advertised one in the right color with significantly less miles for significantly less money. It's an ebay sale so I could easily back out of it if it isn't as described. If you combine good spec, low mileage, only 3 owners, no visible rust on the outside wheel arches and cheap then its worth it, as it will easily sell again for similar money. It's only in Manchester as well. Will need a gearbox service* though.

If anyone local wants to have a go in it for a few days before I pick it up let me know! That is, if the seller isn't ghosting me!

Absolutely, I've asked the seller what day will work for them, I hope I'm getting a reply tomorrow.

Ah, Mr Schaefft sticking to his usual buying technique.

I cannot fathom his hand positions, either he’s a Bananaman era Egyptian or he’s taking photos with a bow and arrow.

Can’t wait for the collection caper.

Not for this thing, oh no.

The caper of driving to wherever the fuck Brunei is, with this and a trailer, and bringing back half a Jag.

Brunei is south-east of Thailand/Vietnam/Malaysia, on the island of Borneo, and surrounded by the Malaysian 'half' of the island (the other half being Indonesian).

It's a fucking shithole of a dictatorship that's equivalent to discovering Essex has declared independence from Britain and implemented Daily Mail Law (like Sharia in terms of stonings for people they don't like, but more accepting of women as long as they're not old, wrinkly, independent, too young and the subject of celebrity affection^) with Nigel Farage as the ultimate leader and beneficiary of the natural reserves of oil, gas, cockles and fake tanning spray.

Fetching a car from there is doing the car a HUGE favour.

*note that this rule only applies retrospectively, and if they are celebrity girls 'blossoming' then their readers are encouraged to leer for the next 30 years until they show signs of aging or revealing their education, intelligence or opinions instead of their ankles.

The shadow shows two handed photography in progress which is a relief.

Quick update: @DirtyDailyvolunteered to pop over to have a closer look at it, and take it away if nothing too worrying will be discovered. The seller gave me a phone number and address this morning which means he's actually committing to a sale, which is all but guaranteed on eBay. With other gems like a £1000 Rover 75 Classic and £400 Fiesta in his sold items list he might either be some kind of driveway/council estate trader or is just another shiter living the dream. The V5 was reissued due to a private plate being taken off recently but there hasn't been an owner change in years, so who knows!

Probably a little too rough for my purposes.

Some more news on the example I won on eBay above: The seller does indeed appear to be a driveway trader as he only took the Range Rover in as part exchange (hence no owner change anytime recently). It apparently comes with a decent amount of service history and 2 keys. You can probably imagine that I didn't expect much so all of this is a real bonus. Could this be a good example in just a little need of TLC?

Maybe they fancied something a little bit less of a liability, like a Citroen C6 or a Maserati. (Both of which @Schaefft also has on fleet...!)

Chances are that if things go smoothly on Saturday this might replace the C6 (also as the newest car I have owned). If anyone is interested...
