I'm sure there's another thread somewhere for this that I've replied to but it's always a good read so what the heck.

So I'll mention again:

Absolute no-go car buying towns for me.

Skelmersdale, Netherton, Croxteth, Fazakerley.

Apologies to any members that live in those parts of museryside/lancashire

This may be a petty one but... when you see a lovely, clean, tidy car for sale and the drivers carpet/footwell is filthy as they've not used mats.

Curbed Wheels on all four corners.

Old Minis with 13" wheels. I know some came from Rover like that, but 13" wheels are just to big and too silly on an old Mini.

Chameleon windscreen tint and photos taken at a car wash are also big turn offs

I’ve noticed people seem to want retail now on some Cat S ruin.

I’ve noticed the same. Any mention of it seems to be buried in paragraphs of less important details in the hopes that you’ll skim over it too

Where people put ‘5 speed gearbox’ on something like a 1998 Focus. They all fucking had it. Like saying ‘dual circuit brakes’.

Power steering.

Another thing. £99 admin fee, supposedly for filling in a bit of paperwork. I would walk on the back of being asked to pay that.

No V5 but full receipt provided!

Towing eye cover missing/towing eye still screwed in! Usually accompanied by never let me down!

Couple more to add:

Aftermarket lights and any stick on shit (e.g. chrome arches)

Adverts starting with ‘here we have’ - no reason for this, it irks me and I don’t know why.

This seems like a perfect example for some of us. More fucked than anticipated, fill your boots.

To be honest I reckon that as AS has got popular the more you need to be skeptical.  No offence to anyone here but I bought a 3.2 MV6 omega off someone here.

I'd kind of committed myself as I git a work colleague to drive me to the North East one Thursday Evening and then he pissed off home. If I didn't buy it, I'd have either had to get the last train back to Derby or stay overnight. And get the first train.  But silly of me, but the description matched the price.

Unfortunately the car turned right on braking.  He MUST have known that although it was his Dad's car so maybe not.

Anyway some money was knocked off, with the explanation that it probably needed the front brakes looking at.  What I know know about omegas is that it's 95% likely to need new front wishbones every 50k as a service item.

I've always given the seller the benefit if the doubt. Buyer beware. Etc. My fault fir having blinkers and really wanting it, but over the first month I spent as much on it as I did buying it.  I then did 80k in it most trouble free.

But in the back of my mind I'm thinking.... really were you that trusting of some random bloke you'd never met off a forum.... I'd be a little more cautious now, I think.

I'd like to expand on 'Change of Circumstances', mentioned above.

Some or all of the below will apply:

- More fucked than expected

- Lazy cunt

- Clueless cunt.

The worst part of it is that it's a lie and the potless seller expects us to believe them.

It is in Peterlee though, a desperate place if ever there was one.

Little obvious white lies that make me wonder if they're hiding more important issues.

It's almost worth buying this to see if it's possible to drive it using the brake discs as wheels
