Different effects on different surfaces/compounds I guess. Largely positive in my experience. A heat gun can sometimes work far better than any formula? purplebargeken 1

The winding mechanism was really stiff and took a lot of effort to operate. I sprayed a ton of WD40 on the sliding mechanism and the cog and workings. Just spent time working the mechanism for about 30 mins. Also cleaned and lubed the door hinges and door check strap. Now much better. The winder works really smoothly winding the window up but is less so winding it down, feels tighter at times than others. Will let it all soak in and then try again. I have some external weather strip that will do the job but need to source the fittings that the strip sits on, there are half a dozen and they mount onto a hole in the door. Not familiar with them so will need to seek out various suppliers. The door lock is inoperative on the key. The key just spins. The mechanism isn’t connected to anything. Volksy Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago IIRC the door lock (key) isn't actually connected to the interior door release/lock, which I think you slide forwards to lock from the inside. The key just , when turned, stops the exterior button from being depressed. Because of this I managed to lock myself out of my Visa Super E many years ago. purplebargeken Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Might have found something suitable on the Breco website. Thought I would investigate the reluctant winder mechanism on the passenger door. Door furniture off and door card removed. Bugger, access is very different this side. Lubed what I could, tried to move the handle, and……. clunk, the window popped off and dropped to the bottom of the door. Urrghhh. The runner attached to the bottom of the window is in poor condition and without the glass, the winder itself works really well. Anyone got a replacement glass with runner in good nick? Sigh.
