I must confess, its a bit wet outside and I gave it a squeeze out of a round about. It's got a power bias to the rear wheels.

Sick bro.

Seriously though I doubt anyone could mistake it for a TT but let us know if it does happen.

Congratulations on the purchase.

Someone will do it to wind me up and they will be successful.

Back home.
Audi r8 first impressions and good points.
Brake discs are very fresh.
Clutch bite is good and pedal not stiff.
Interior is very tidy other than the small blemishes to the drivers seat.
Suspension all nice and solid and previously bad ball joint has been fixed.
Very thorough inspection was carried out by REPeformance in late 2022 with ALL things found being rectified.
It goes like stink.
Sound is very good and not too loud especially at motorway speeds.
Mpg I averaged 27 on the way back with a few spirited accelerations averaging somewhere between 60 and 70.
Tyres are a smidge low on tread and it is due a service. I will be doing the service myself with a friend who has a lift. I'm going to do engine oil, gearbox oil, diff oil, clean air filters (REP ram air cone reusable jobbies) fuel filter and general look around it.

So happy.

Saw a black R8 hurling along the A34 over the weekend and wondered if it was you, but I saw that it had The Worst Things In the World* on the front, so was pretty confident it couldn't be yours.

Whilst my route to work includes a stretch of the A34 towards wilmslow I didn't appear on it this weekend.

Funny story though, I was "hurling" down the manchester airport bypass road which goes over the A34 and as I redlined 2nd gear and went in to third a police car appeared in my rear view mirror. Oops.

He pulled alongside me at the next set of lights and said "look if I had that car i would of done the exact same thing, just not in front of a police car!"

"Sorry officer"

Nice chap and I think a car fan hence the leniency. The number plates i can confirm are not 4d but they are tinted. I will get some none tinted ones made up when I get the logbook.

You're welcome to come for a spin if you're around my ways. Seeing it on my road as you can imagine is amusing.

I'm genuinely surprised these have proper manual gearboxes, I thought they'd all be bork-tastic flappy paddle jobs.
Nicely done, proper supercar for the price of a new Polo. 8|

Out of interest if it's not too personal a question, what are they skinning you for insurance on it?

Couple of times when I've been bored I've fed my regular car details into a comparison site for a Lamborghini or similar and been surprised at how relatively cheap it was. like 3 or 4 times what I pay for a 20 year old shitter.

Very reasonable. £755 for the year with the mods declared.

For reference I'm 28, with 1 accident back in 2020. No points. No criminal shit. 10 years NCB.

I haven't got any pictures from my time with it weirdly. Just the pictures from the advert. See my favourites.20250212_082529.jpgIMG-20250203-WA0012.jpgIMG-20250203-WA0010.jpgIMG-20250203-WA0006.jpgIMG-20250203-WA0011.jpgIMG-20250203-WA0007.jpgCT-15.jpgCT-21.jpgCT-166.jpgCT-151.jpg

So more of an update as i have done more miles.

When cold and first driven the bushes do squeak a little. I've used wynns engine stop leak previously with good results to rejuvenate the rubber bushes. Feeds the rubber rather than a silicon grease spray that just lubricates it so I will do that come service.

I have had a warning flash up on the dash for "BRAKES!" For about 3 seconds. I suspect it's a brake fluid warning level and considering there is 24 brake pistons (8 per front caliper and 4 per rear caliper) i suspect as the pads wear down the level drops considerably do to the sheer number of pistons. Reservoir isn't the easiest to access so I will tackle when I do the service.

Speaking of service, I looked through the service records again and I can't see any sign of the diff or gearbox getting new oil. I will therefore do this also with the best oil as recommended by REP. Does however mean that just for the fluids and consumables the service will be a chunky bill. Can't complain though.
Has anyone got a opieoils discount code?Screenshot_20250212_090641_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20250212_090647_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20250212_090651_Chrome.jpg

Thankfully that's for 6 litres. 6 x 1 litre bottles.

wrt discount codes I have the usual extensions added to my browser (Honey, Coupert, Coupon Birds, Mint) - they'll automatically apply the best available discount code to any site they apply to.

Amazing purchase frankly. Well, well out of my league but I can live vicariously through this thread.

That's not too bad for gear-type oil IMO. It's well over £200 to fill a ZF autobox and I'm sure that's not as hi-tech oil as here.

Thank you, its also out of my league realistically. I'm hoping when I service it i don't find anything untoward.

One thing I will note is my anxiety plays games with me really badly. I need to get to know the car and trust it which I hope I will eventually. All day at work I was thinking of things that may be wrong with it and then when I got home I found myself checking underneath for any signs of oil leaks etc. Does panic me a bit but as I say, I think that will subside.

In terms of the oils I think it's fair enough. It's top of the line oil so I'd rather put it in and have peace of mind than not. Also updated shopping basket as I have been advised by Rickey of REP and he recommended some other oils. Heavier weight for the gearbox, non lsd for the front diff and a 5w30 for the engine. I won't argue with him.Screenshot_20250212_165232_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20250212_165238_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20250212_165243_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20250212_155952_Facebook.jpg

What a magnificent purchase, seriously well done. I think most of us will understand the anxiety bit, I'm sure with you'll be fine and have a great time owning your dream car, you're approaching it all in the right manner - best of luck with it.

It does sound ace. It's got a Milltek exhuast which always tend to be a good balance between tone/loudness. Not too in your face but more to it than a stock exhuast for sure.
