Incredible purchase fair play 😀😀😀😀.

Seems so far even with these small error codes is not given you a fuck load of trouble and I'm sure you'll easily sort it 👍🏻👍🏻

New sensor ordered. I suspect i could of got it faster elsewhere but i trust autodoc to send genuine parts rather than the likes of ebay. Also worth noting it only acts up in the very hot weather. Very electrical issue sounding, i first thought it might of been coil pack or spark plug until i saw no misfires and the cam sensor code.Screenshot_20250713_092925.jpg

Drove this yesterday in and out of manchester and it was fine. I think the issue came from being in the 30+ degree weather, sat still for 30 mins with the car running and aircon on. It didnt like it. Understandably.

Oh well i will have the sensor in case the code comes back!

Well thats this thread closed. Recently the R8 departed my company. The car was great throughout my ownership doing 3.5k miles and not really going wrong. I took the car up shelsley walsh hill climb at a food and fuel event and it performed superbly.
At the event there was another R8 V8 manual and it blew up going up the hill... it sounded like it was poorly maintained and i couldnt help but feel if that was mine id be in a really tough position. So its been sold and ive lost a little money on it but experienced a dream. If in the future i earn as much as i hope i do i will want another one when i can feasibly afford to run it properly. Hopefully a V10.

Mixed emotions but happy to of done it.

Tomorrow however is a new day and potentially a new car. Ill do a collection thread but a few clues is 50% more power than an R8 V8 and 25% of the cost.
Manual.
Twin turbo saloon. It looks a bit of a nail but i know a guy!untitled-04977.jpg

I have never owned a car costing more than about £6000 but I can understand that having quite a lot of money tied up in one vehicle with the potential to break being quite nerve-wracking so if you have had your fun and got out without losing your shirt I say well done.

Probably wrong but my guess for your new whip is a F10 550i

They're actually quite DIY fixable for the most part and I'm sure you'd have no issue working on most of it if it did.

I know this as my neighbour is always having to fix his! 🙃 (His was a sorted one too)

They're a real eye catching car that everyone looks at but they are so incredibly maintenance heavy and nightmare when they start being a PIA. Older ones are worse and the newer ones refined a lot of the silly issues that kept causing faults.

You've definitely scratched an itch and always good to bail out on something like this while it hasn't cost you a pretty penny.

Having regularly watched the REPerformance YouTube channel I’d never buy an R8 of any description, the bills can be eye watering, probably less risk than an RS6 though!

My theory on this is, they can nearly always be fixed far cheaper than a specialist garage by just being a little cute with your fixes. Obviously you can save £120/130 an hour or whatever they charge but they always just go to Audi for parts. Such as brake pads and discs. He reckons front pads from audi are £450. Identical pads on autodoc are £130. Common fault being the heater matrix control valves going bad are £600 from audi or £100 from rockauto. Identical parts. Im sure in a lot of scenarios he will be worth his weight in gold but for cheaply maintaining one you need some nouse.

Exactly the same with other stuff like Porsches.

Take it to a main dealer or even specialist and be prepared to be ripped a new one.

DIY or a friendly local garage willing to take the risk, massively do-able.

That said some stuff I believe is an absolute nightmare and requires engine drops. E.g. something to do with the Aircon system on the R8 has that issue - iirc fan for the condenser or something? My neighbour mentioned something about his and why his Aircon is staying broken.

Also adaptive shocks ... £2.5k a corner

So he replaced it with the V10 non adaptive setup for £2k for all four corners sorted and fitted by a garage.

Is his a very low mileage one? I really think these cars suffer from not being driven enough. I did do some work on it and found it too be not too bad at all. It really didnt throw up much issues though.

I think getting out before it went bad/expensive is the main thing. I want to buy a new house so as you can imagine itll be handy having that money on hand.

Good luck with your Maserati (guess)

I chose an I8 over a R8, ironically a chat with a friend today who has been thinking of a Lambo until I suggested the R8 as it is DIY friendly. I love the I8 but am starting to think of an early R8 as a good investment and a ying to the yang of the hybrid.

Not particularly I don't think but he's not used it a whole lot in the last few years which I definitely doesn't help. Neither does him leaving it outside. Which is bonkers considering he has a double garage that is filled with crap worth far less than his R8!

The other issue he has is that it's a two seater and can't carry all his family. Then his M4 when stock was pretty much similar performance and now remapped, significantly faster. Obviously not the visual impact of the R8 but he can take all his family in it when going out.
