Starting from Blanchland?

Not necessarily.  It wasn't a great starting point as there's sod all mobile signal there.

Can we start the drive a tad later than usual for the benefit of those coming from further afield? Say 12 ish?

The routes from the past years have been great by the way, I don't think many folk will take issue with them being reused either in bits or entirely.

Should we start with lunch then?

I've just stuck this in the WhatsApp, but for anyone not paying attention or not in there:

What about something like this?

Kicking off at the same parking as last time in Blanchland where there is NO MOBILE SIGNAL.  Head over the top into Weardale again via the hairpin at Townfield and up and over to the Rookhope burn.

Then down into Allenheads, up the East Allen not quite as far as Sparty Lea, left down over the East Allen and over the top to Coal Cleugh and up the West Allen, joining the A686 and following it up to Hayden Bridge.

Then over the A69, all the way up to the military road to head back east, and south again to @Schaefft 's personal horror film set.  Kicking it off at 12 I expect we would want a decent stop to eat some lunch, and there's sweet FA in terms of shops, so maybe stop at @tooSavvy's favourite cairn on the Weardale/East Allen border to eat pies from Alston?  Or just hold it out till we get to the Blair Which(sic) project at around 1400.

Or, this: perfect 50 miles and a Sainsbury's en route

The poll is now closed, 23rd of February is the date to mark in the Calendar! Looking forward to it, now I have to make sure that the Maserati will be ready as well!

Hang on, does the route go through Bishop Auckland then?

I mean, as a post town, just.

Ah, it looks like it does on the map, but if it's 12 I'll join you at the start in Blanchland anyway.   I tend to think of anything near the A68 as 'South of Dryden' and 'North of Dryden'.  I think Blanchland is a way north.

My street is named Consett, so I probably ought to join in.  However... all I've got at the moment is the Motability bus.  What's for sale over that way that might be worth making a collection thread on?

Posted

That's a possible, can you get me a link please?

@loserone, is the Megane for sale? If so how much are you thinking?

MrsV8 bought one new, and I used it as my wedding car.

No more or less than the Duster or the Zoë are for sale - at the right price everything is.

Except the express!

I'll have to give the Panda a wash and make it presentable.   It keeps getting gritted.   This is not good for an ageing Fiat.

You'll be in great company up here, living just 10mins outside of Hexham!

Twixfest is approaching fast. If you haven't in the WhatsApp poll yet, could anyone who is definitely going to come this Sunday confirm it in this thread? We don't need precise numbers but it always helps to have an idea what the turnout will be like.

The weather forecast is certainly looking promising*

Planning on heading south over the border for this on Sunday. Both cars currently have opportunities for improvement but confident one of them will be deemed good enough to make the trip 😂.
