busmansholiday Posted yesterday at 22:20 Posted yesterday at 22:20 Congrats to @Inspector Morose (tell us all, if you can), unfortunately I'm planning on watching us play Plymouth (away) that day. Inspector Morose 1
Minimad5 Posted yesterday at 22:41 Posted yesterday at 22:41 I'm rota'd in for a 12hr night shift on the above mentioned date, but pencil me in, in the slim chance i can book it off. Well done boss @Inspector Morose for landing a new job 😎👍 Inspector Morose 1
Inspector Morose Posted yesterday at 22:52 Posted yesterday at 22:52 As I start on the 11th, Can I suggest an earlier date if possible? Well, where do I start? After a complete clusterfuck of a 2024, I decided that if I was to go it alone, I might as well do it where I wanted to be instead of really where I didn’t (nor where I was wanted, it seemed). After a very long chat with @Saabnut of this very parish at his salubrious Scottish retreat, he dropped that he was going to retrain as an MoT tester. It niggled. Now, as some know, my background is more bus engineering than car engineering; a car tester is one thing, maybe I should become a bus/LGV tester? I applied. I interviewed. I filled in many, many background checks. I got offered the position of Vehicle Examiner, starting on the 11th March. Based in Portlethen, just outside Aberdeen, my job will entail going to authorised testing facilities to carry out annual road worthy examinations on large vehicles. The training is long (16 weeks) but looks interesting. As a civil servant, there are some other perks along the way but it does seem a good working environment. We shall see. I’ll literally be heading north with little more than the shirt on my back (apart from acres of useless shit I’ve hoarded) I’ve got to find a place to live and somehow get some furniture in place, but first I’ve got to earn some money to put it into action! Thanks again to Saabnut who’s kind offer of some temporary digs for the short term will see me started, the rest will come along as and when. Talk about sailing close to the wind! so there you have it. I’ll become a man from the ministry and a civil servant in one fell swoop. From mild annoyance and bus know it all to the Autoshite devil incarnate in one easy move! dome, Supernaut, Stinkwheel and 38 others 13 28
Lord Sterling Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Congratulations @Inspector Morose. Shame you'll be going so far, it was nice to do some bimble missions treading around the West Mids with you, but I know you and I know that needs must. Personally I'm still on for a Belgium move but it won't be fast as I'm actually alright right now where I am right now. It's OK, I like it and given my luck I'm reluctant to take much risk that Okay-ness. As for a get together, yes an earlier date would be great as I'm pencilled in for the last day of my 4-night shift. Would anywhere between the 1st and 4th March be OK? I'm fully off between then. Supernaut Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Wahey, another potential member for the NE Scotoshite meet ups! I sort of tried to do a meet on the first Sunday of each month last spring / summer at the Fennel in Inverurie (they do a thing called V8 Breakfast every Sunday where lots of interesting metal turns up). It sort of worked then fizzled out. This gives me more impetus to try again. Will be good seeing more of you up round this way @Inspector Morose! Inspector Morose 1
Supernaut Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Oh, also. Seeing as you'll be in the area now... When are we getting a work party together to start on the smol green car? beko1987, loserone and chaseracer 3

No; this is an official handover to the Scottish delegation, and means you will require to be Woollarded at a petrol station of your choice before we post a collection thread safely delivering you to the frozen north. 2flags Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Congrats on the new job. Remember to take your thermals when you go north. I've heard it gets cold up there and they even get proper snow, the white stuff, not the grey wet stuff we get down here.

kirton Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Looks a possible subject to domestic negotiation etc etc. Especially if I can combine with a visit to an old colleague. Can we go and gaze at the Auction gates after the standard healthy* repast? Happy times. chaseracer 1
