Guess who is currently in Bordeaux...

And no, I'm not going to do a collection thread in which I have to take about 450 different impromptu roadside stops while steam comes out of the bonnet...

That's easy - just buy a different car. :-)
Plus, if you bring it home for some other shiter than that's notĀ  a collection thread - it'd be a delivery thread instead. No angst.
Solved - here you go, should be a fun* tripĀ

I believe we got a very similar special called the Splash. Definitely had the same seats.

An elderly couple in my neighbourhood had one and at the time it was the only prefacelift AX I'd ever seen. Only ever saw it move once. But then one day, in about 2009, it was gone and a KA Mk2 was in its place. The scrappage scheme had got another.

Never forgave whoever the hell the owner was for that...

Interesting, I took a (terrible) photo of an AX Splash scrappage scheme victim locally. Wasn't F210NCF was it?Ā

Well let's just say that I'm out here to drive something that will unquestionably qualify for a Future Shite thread...

Sadly I can't remember as I was very young at the time and could never get a photo. Lived in Nuneaton if that helps.

Nah wasn't it in which case but I do remember there being a fair few scrappage scheme 'victims' which riled me, although looking back I probably spent way too much emotion on it.Ā

Ā

I've still got madcap idea to import a Lybra or MK2 Delta. Very low risk, but I will do it.Ā

I find that I have to look in this thread with caution as there’s some really nice stuff in there.Ā

And I do love a left hooker.Ā

Looking at right hand drive cars for sale in France, as you do.

Staying well in his juices, apparently.Ā Screenshot_20240727_230605_Facebook.jpg.2a6d59c258f3bbe414bd47421a3c9495.jpg

Jargon - the phrase ā€œrester dans son jus" means untouched or still in it’s original condition or unmessed-with.

The bien - just refers to the thing - the lorry.

"Attraction Foraine" - fairground attraction - some kind of service vehicle - which probably explains it's preservation.

Advert has miss-spelt the vehicle name - it's a Latil not an Atil...šŸ˜

I dont know if you'll be able to see this but I'll share the ad anyway. A Belgian-built Austin 1300GT for 450€

https://www.facebook.com/commerce/listing/1046266893501778/

No photo description available.

The best bit is, theres a picture of the chassis plate. Look at that. Even got a phone number for the Seneffe factory. Imagine ringing that now.Ā

Amazingly there's still a signpost for British Leyland Belgium outside the old factory site even now. The factory is still there, but repurposed as a warehouse. You can still see a very very faint outline of the big round bathplug logo on the lawn outside.
